On this week's episode of Diving In Deep, Sara sits down with upcoming country star Kylie Morgan and talks about all things music and life. Kylie shares insight into how her career took off and the people that helped her along the way. The conversation not only explores Kylie's life as a country music star, but also her unexpected wedding, having a viral TikTok song, her close relationship with her mom, and a lesson on geography from Sara. About Kylie: Kylie Morgan has quickly proven herself to be a relatable storyteller and an engaging live performer. The Oklahoma native is known for baring her soul in her confessional lyrics and leaving her heart on the stage, whether she's headlining her own tour or supporting acts like Old Dominion. In doing so, she makes her listeners feel less alone. While Kylie began writing songs at a young age, it wasn't until her grandfather bought her a pink acoustic guitar for Christmas that it all came together. "I got my first guitar and it just clicked: Here's where a verse goes, here's where the chorus goes," she says of her early songs around age 12. "It actually started to make sense for me, and you couldn't get me out of my room writing songs." She has since spent the past 14 years honing her craft in the writing room and on the stage. Kylie vividly recalls first sharing a microphone with her grandfather at a young age while singing Elvis Presley's "That's All Right." At 14, she set out on the open road and began touring full-time and hasn't slowed down since. In August 2022 she made her Grand Ole Opry debut and less than a year later wrapped her first-ever headlining tour. Kylie also performed a career-defining set at Nissan Stadium at CMA Fest 2022 and joined Old Dominion for her first arena trek as part of the band's No Bad Vibes Tour. Shortly after she was taught her first chords on guitar, Kylie told her parents she was going to skip college and move to Nashville to be a country artist. By 15, the young artist was traveling back and forth to Nashville to write with anyone she could. One of her earliest co-writes and believers was Walker Hayes. Welcome Friends and thank you for connecting with us for another wonderful episode of CWC! In Today's episode we catch up with our good friend Paige King Johnson and talk about new music, life, and exciting things happening in 2024. Meet Paige: In a quiet North Carolina town 22 miles south of Raleigh, as a young 9-year-old girl, Paige King Johnson spent her days imitating the styles of Loretta, Patsy, Waylon, and Merle. Having a grandpa as her biggest fan also meant receiving the gift of her first guitar – a baby Taylor - and enrolling in lessons. After her grandpa passed, the bright-eyed dreamer carried on his memory by taking her newfound discovery to local fairs, festivals, and any other stage she was allowed to stand on. As she grew older, Johnson added “opening act” to her resume, supporting chart topping artists like Kane Brown, Oliver Anthony, Joe Nichols, Gabby Barrett, Diamond Rio, Scotty McCreery, Kylie Morgan, Neal McCoy and more. And with high school graduation came the realization that this was more than a hobby. The Angier native traded in horse pastures for the bright lights of Music City in 2015. Upon starting school at Belmont University for Music Business, Johnson honed in on the magic that had heavily influenced her as a child: the art of storytelling thru songwriting. We had the pleasure of interviewing Jay Allen Zoom video!Country singer Jay Allen has released his latest single, "No Prayer Like Mama's," through ONErpm. The new single is a touching tribute to the strength and devotion of a mother's love and is available now on streaming services worldwide.Inspired by Jay Allen's own journey, "No Prayer Like Mama's" is a tribute to the love and sacrifice of mothers. The song was born out of Allen's own experience of losing his mother to Alzheimer's disease and serves to honor the memory of all mothers who have dedicated their lives to their children, even in the face of adversity. The lyrics pay homage to the endless prayers that mothers offer for their children, from their earliest moments to when they've reached adulthood, capturing the beauty and power of that love that can transcend time and distance.Allen spoke about the song, saying “'No Prayer Like Mama's' was written after grieving the loss of my own mother. That process was a difficult journey, but now I find strength in believing that she's still with me. I hope this song brings honor to both mothers in heaven and those still with us.”Growing up near Cedar Falls, Iowa, Allen was influenced by the music he heard from both his father at rock concerts and his mother, who would sing country tunes on long car rides. Allen attributes his love for country music to his mother, and it's what ultimately led him to move to Nashville in 2013. He signed a publishing deal in 2014 and an artist deal with SONY/ATV in 2016. With the release of "Sounds Good to Me" in 2017, Allen was selected as Sirius XM's "The Highway Find."It was his 2018 hit "Blank Stares," a powerful tribute to his mother who suffered from early-onset Alzheimer's, that first caught the attention of national audiences. The song went viral, reaching over 500 million views on Facebook, and showcased Allen's raw talent and dedication to raising awareness for the Alzheimer's Association. As a result of his advocacy efforts, Allen has been involved with several international events, including the Rita Hayworth Gala, which have raised over $100 million for the Alzheimer' Association and has received numerous accolades, including The Caregiver Award from the National Alzheimer's Association.Allen has also been recognized for his music. He was named Favorite Competition Contestant at the 2022 Country Now Awards and featured in Music Mayhem Magazine's 2023 Artists to Watch. With the release of his debut EP Bulletproof, which includes the single "Mustang on Mud Tires" featuring UMG country artist, co-writer, and now-wife Kylie Morgan (along with Nate Kenyon and Blake Bollinger) Allen continues to captivate audiences with his emotional and heartfelt music. We want to hear from you! The running offseason is an opportunity to make gains in other places and friend of the podcast Kylie Morgan of “The Morgan Method” joined us again to chat about this and had some other great information she passed along. Kylie is always a wealth of information but it was also nice to hear about her personal recovery from knee surgery. It was a long road and Kylie was ecstatic to finally toe the line at the 2022 Squamish 23k race. She gives some great perspectives and tips on how to get through such a long recovery. “Get the small things sorted before they become big things. Don't keep running through an injury. A couple of days off now is a whole lot better than a couple of weeks off later. It's not going to kill your training.”Kylie was on the podcast back in episode three and chatted about the benefits of strength training in general. I promise it will be 15 minutes well spent and you will look forward to the next episode!I wanted to create a trailer for the podcast as some of the players have the option to highlight one. My wife Sheena (she’s also a makeup and hair superstar!) was kind enough to take me out for a photoshoot recently as well. Kylie Morgan is a singer songwriter with a huge heart. She is a passionate performer who has used her love for music to talk with teens about anti bullying and mental health. She shares in this podcast about one of her first songs telling the story of a young girl who killed herself and around how that song then went onto touch and even save other lives once it was shared. That is when Kylie says she "really understood the power of music". EMI Records Nashville's Kylie Morgan began writing songs in her hometown of Newcastle, OK when she was only 12 years old. A masterful storyteller, the singer-songwriter released her music independently in her early teens, garnering national attention from music producers and television executives. At the age of 16, she was named “Who New To Watch” by the Country Music Association. This early success led Kylie to begin making regular trips to Nashville, crafting her voice and polishing her songwriting. When she turned 18, she made the decision to call Music City home. Recognizing Kylie's unique talent, the SMACKSongs team signed her to their roster under the guidance of GRAMMY Award-winning songwriters, Shane McAnally and Josh Osborne. An avid yoga enthusiast, Kylie has earned her official Yoga Alliance Certification. She participates in yoga daily and it has become part of her lifestyle. Kylie has previously toured with artists including Dan + Shay, Little Big Town, Maren Morris, Gavin DeGraw, Brett Eldredge and Billy Currington. Kylie was named as part of CMT's Listen Up Class of 2019 and will be performing shows across the country this summer, opening for Jon Pardi, Kip Moore, Devin Dawson, Lady Antebellum, Carly Pearce, and more. Kylie is currently in the studio working on her debut album with producers Shane McAnally and Ben Johnson. Connect with Kylie: Website Spotify Facebook Instagram TicTok Twitter YouTube
We had the pleasure of hosting country musician Kylie Morgan back on Friday, November 15, 2020. We had a great time chatting about her video shoot for her song Break Things, where she got to do just that, break a bunch of things! I remember moving into college at 18 being a bit of a challenge. Talk about a culture change. But imagine moving to Nashville at 19 to start a music career. That's what Kylie Morgan did. She knew from a very young age that she wanted to be a singer and nothing was going to stop her. But she needed to find some balance in her life. That's when she started trying out yoga. The practice became so special to her that she even became a certified instructor. We first started to discuss our shared interest in wellness a few months back when I met Kylie during her radio tour. I'm glad we got a chance to catch up again to talk more about what life has been like during the pandemic, her journey to Nashville and the wellness practices that keep her balanced.
