While Adrian is still MIA, Donnie and Linda covered the 2019 direct-to-streaming feature, ‘Grand Isle’ which features Kelsey Grammer as a low-falutin small-town investigator looking into a rash of missing (or murdered?!) teens, KaDee Strickland as a desperate wife, and Cage as your drunk uncle from down south (HUH HUH). At one point, Linda and Donnie say they didn’t realize it took place in the 80’s, to which Adrian complained that there’s an on-screen message saying, ‘1988,’ but this aint the big city! We can’t read!

You know KaDee Strickland from the ABC dramas "Private Practice" and "Secrets & Lies", and her new Hulu series "Shut Eye". In this special Valentine’s episode, KaDee confesses how she tried to play cupid between her girlfriend and actor Jason Behr before realizing she had been struck by the arrow herself. She shares her secrets to 10+ years of marriage with "Mr. Delicious" in La La Land, which let's face it, in Hollywood years, is a record. We chat about how motherhood underscores the awesomeness of female friendship, KaDee’s upbringing in rural Georgia (she had a pet alligator, for real...learned that tidbit watching her on "The View"), and we examine the mother-daughter dynamics in her family history. Veteran screenwriter Leslie Bohem tackles the seedy underworld of Los Angeles psychics in this Hulu Original series. Shut Eye follows Charlie and Linda Haverford as they attempt to rise up from their underling position in the Romani world in which they inhabit. This drama is an interesting peek behind the curtain into a world often passed by, and until now overlooked. What goes on in these psychic parlors? Who really owns them? What mysteries lay behind the neon signs? Strong performances from Jeffrey Donovan as Charlie, and KaDee Strickland as his tough and ambitious co-conspirator/wife Linda. Australian actor Angus Sampson plays Fonso, the "leader" of the Romani family. He sees to be channeling an over-the-top Tony Soprano with a gruff Batman voice and seems cartoonish in many scenes. His work (alongside Jeffrey Donovan) in Fargo Season 2 is worth noting as incredible, so anything he does in Shut Eye is forgivable. And if you did not think the cast could get any better it has David Zayas (Dexter), Emmanuelle Chriqui (Entourage) and Isabella Rossallini as Rita Marks (the true head of the Romani empire.) Shut Eye is a pinch of shows you know, a touch of a world you don't, mixed in with a really great cast. If the cards are right for this Hulu series, we see good things for this show in its future.
KaDee Strickland can next be seen starring opposite Jeffrey Donovan in Hulu’s upcoming drama series, “Shut Eye,” about the underground world of Los Angeles storefront psychics and the organized crime syndicate that runs them. Last year, Strickland starred in the ABC drama, “Secrets and Lies,” which also starred Ryan Phillippe and Juliette Lewis. Strickland is perhaps best known for her role as Dr. Charlotte King on the ABC drama, “Private Practice,” which earned her the 2011 PRISM Award for Best Female Performance in a Drama Series with a Multi-Episode Storyline. Her additional television credits include a starring role on the David E. Kelley series, “The Wedding Bells,” as well as roles on “Law & Order: Criminal Intent,” “All My Children,” “The Street Lawyer” and “Laws of Chance.” On the big screen, Strickland appeared in the critically-acclaimed Ridley Scott drama, AMERICAN GANGSTER, in which she played opposite Russell Crowe. She also starred in Tyler Perry’s THE FAMILY THAT PREYS with Kathy Bates, Sanaa Lathan and Alfre Woodard. Her additional film credits include the following: THE FLOCK, a thriller with Richard Gere and Claire Danes; FEVER PITCH, directed by the Farrelly Brothers and starring Drew Barrymore; the hit horror film THE GRUDGE; Woody Allen's ANYTHING ELSE; ANACONDAS: THE HUNT FOR THE BLOOD ORCHID; SOMETHINGS GOTTA GIVE; and THE STEPFORD WIVES. While studying at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, Strickland was cast in THE SIXTH SENSE and GIRL, INTERRUPTED, among other features filmed in Philadelphia. After receiving a Fine Arts degree, she moved to New York and continued her studies with master teacher Maggie Flanagan at the Maggie Flanagan Studio. In May 2006, the University honored Strickland with the Outstanding Alumni Award. During her time in New York, she acquired stage experience in productions of A Requiem for Things Past, Near Tragedy and in John Patrick Shanleys Women of Manhattan. Strickland resides in Los Angeles.
In this special Bonus Episode, Phil and Mike go head-to-head in our returning feature, Quizmaster Deathmatch (featuring Predator Vs. The Sting)! We also feature interviews with the cast and creator of Hulu's new Show, Shut Eye! We talk with Jeffrey Donovan (Burn Notice), Isabella Rossellini (Blue Velvet), Kadee Strickland (Private Practice), David Zayas (Dexter), and Emmannuelle Chriqui (Entourage)!
Jeffrey Donovan and KaDee Strickland have become experts on the dark underbelly of neighborhood psychics. The stars of Hulu's "Shut Eye" spent plenty of time researching that world, injecting themselves into the practice in some cases. Also in this episode, filmmakers Doug Liman and Simon Chinn discuss their new Netflix unscripted true crime series "Captive" and why documentary re-enactments have a bad rap. And IndieWire's TV team predicts the Golden Globe nominations.
Yahoo Style's Joe Zee and Lauren Tuck talk to actress Kadee Strickland about her new series Secrets & Lies and looks back at Private Practice. Don't miss the editors talk about the Big Five Stories of the week. Also, we talk to DKNY PR Girl Aliza Licht and play Cards Against Fashion Humanity!
