The Hotwives of Orlando is a 2014 Hulu Original comedy series. The show spoofs on reality shows like The Real Housewives, focusing on a fictional group of women in Orlando who lead extravagant, dramatic lives. Each character embodies a different reality TV stereotype, from the ditzy trophy wife to the volatile diva, and the show follows their ridiculous feuds, parties, and over-the-top personal dramas. Critics generally appreciated The Hotwives for its clever satire and comedic performances, especially by the ensemble cast, though it remained a niche favorite. Its commitment to skewering reality TV conventions earned it praise from fans of parody and satire. Can a show like this be appreciated by a group of guys who generally don't watch the genre that The Hotwives of Orlando is parodying? Listen as they deep dive the show's first episode, "Meet The Hotwives". Starring:  Casey Wilson, Angela Kinsey, Danielle Schneider. Laugh Tracks Legends of Comedy with Randy and Steve

Saturday Night Live has always had cringeworthy characters and none moreso than Pat Riley, the androgynous, uncomfortable, and very funny creation of Julia Sweeney, this week's legend. With deep improv roots, Julia was on SNL for four years in the early 1990s, but after life dealt her a bad hand with a cancer diagnosis, she pivoted to one-woman shows, including God Said Ha! (about her medical journey) which later had a movie version produced by Quentin Tarantino. Since then, Julia has continued with one-woman shows and juicy supporting roles including as Andy Bryant's micromanaging mother. As always find extra clips below and thanks for sharing our shows. Want more Julia? Julia's most famous character was the androgynous and cringe inducing Pat Riley who she created at the Groundlings Improv Company, then took to Saturday Night Live and the big screen. Here Pat interacts with another legend -- the great Catherine O'Hara -- and the results are comedy perfection. https://youtu.be/Y6PcTOKSP0A?si=5FABnp5ebnNCJBpi Julia turned her greatest challenge -- a cancer diagnosis -- into her greatest triumph, the one-woman show God Said Ha! It's an intimate, tender, emotional, and very funny look at an often taboo topic. This snippet will give you a flavor, but the whole film is well worth your time.https://youtu.be/NcxWc6bpA-w?si=yvpfM5nKX7j7k9iG In recent years Julia has continued with one-woman shows, but she has also taken some great character roles such as that of Aidy Bryant's nagging mom in the Hulu Original series Shrill.https://www.metacritic.com/.../season-1/episode-2-date/

This week Andrew and Ted share their thoughts about the Hulu Original "Donor Party" ... oh wait a minute. That's right Ted couldn't make it pass the 20 minute mark so they called an audible at the line and watched Netflix's original "They Cloned Tyrone", starring John Boyega (Fontaine), Jamie Foxx (Slick Charles), and Teyonah Parris (Yo-Yo) with appearances by J. Alphonse Nicholson and Kiefter Sutherland. While filmed in Atlanta, Ga, the film takes place in Baltimore. Fontaine (John Boyega) is a drug dealer and during the course of making money collection from one of his distributors (Slick Charles, played by Jamie Foxx) he is killed by a rival. A killing that is witnessed by Slick Charles, Yo-Yo, and another one of Slick Charle's lady's of the night. However, the next morning Fontaine wakes from his own bed and returns to Slick Charles to collect his money once again. This of course raises Slick Charles and Yo-Yo's suspicion because they witnessed Fontaine's killing. Yo-Yo, a Nancy Drew fan, has a real life mystery on her hand and sets out with the help of Fontaine and Slick Charles to understand what is actually going on. Tune in to get Andrew and Ted's "spoiler free" opinion of this Netflix original.

Welcome to day 9 of our Sundance/Slamdance Film Festival coverage! Joined again by our Park City cohort & honorary bitch John Wildman of Films Gone Wild, we're highlighting a Sundance film and series that focus on Indigenous issues. Twice Colonized is a documentary that tells the story of Aaju Peter, a Greenlandic Inuit lawyer and activist who is working to bring her colonizers in both Canada and Denmark to justice, and defend the human rights of Indigenous peoples of the Arctic.  We had the pleasure of sitting down with Aaju Peter and director Lin Alluna, to discuss the difficulty of following Aaju through some of the toughest moments in anyone's life, the importance of bringing some light and fun into the film, and what it means to be Twice Colonized. The episodic docu-series Murder in Big Horn gives a thorough examination of the tribal members and communities in Big Horn, Montana who are fighting an epidemic of missing and murdered Indigenous women (MMIW) that has been reoccurring since colonization. Directors Razelle Benally and Matthew Galkin discuss how these social issues can be traced all the way back from the roots of being placed on the reservation, the frustration and anger that comes with not receiving sufficient help from the police, and how the community is left to pick up the pieces. Welcome to Day Seven of our Sundance/Slamdance Film Festival coverage! Per the usual with Honorary Bitch John Wildman of Films Gone Wild, we're highlighting three Sundance documentary films that focus on strong women who changed the game.In Pretty Baby: Brooke Shields, we get an inside look on how her rise to fame at a young age caused her to be sexualized as a child, and the repercussions (both good and bad) that this had on her career on her personal life. We sat down with returning guest, director Lana Wilson (who we interviewed in 2020 for her Taylor Swift documentary, Miss Americana), to discuss what it was like to tell the story of an American icon, and how the most important part of her film is about the relationship between a mother and her daughter. The Disappearance of Shere Hite tells the story of a woman who should be widely known and talked about, but sadly, as the title suggests, her life story has disappeared from our country just as she did. Shere Hite was the author of The Hite Report, published in 1976, and was a nationwide study on female sexuality based on thousands of questionnaires that she received from women across the country. The book is a blueprint of what women really think about sex, and the importance of clitoral stimulation. Director and returning guest Nicole Newnham (who we interviewed in 2020 for her film Crip Camp), shares our frustration in the men who were threatened by Shere's work, and explains why it was important to share both the strength it took for Shere to do this revolutionary work, and her weaknesses that caused her to eventually leave the country.Going To Mars: The Nikki Giovanni Project highlights the life and legacy of legendary poet Nikki Giovanni. Directors Michele Stephenson and Joe Brewster sit down with us to talk about Nikki's unique outlook on life, how this film deals with tough topics at times and will also have you laughing out loud, and why it is so frightening to interview her. Congratulations to Michele and Joe for winning the Sundance U.S. Non-Fiction jury award for capturing Nikki's past, present, and future. Follow director Lana Wilson on IG & TwitterFollow director Nicole Newnham on IG & TwitterFollow Director Michele Stephenson on IG & TwitterFollow director Joe Brewster on IG & FB & Twitter--Thanks for listening and for your support! In this episode, Jeni and Ellie cover a lot! The story begins with Jeni telling Ellie about her trip out of town spent avoiding the "Timeshare" employees at the Orlando Resort where she stayed. Ellie and Jeni then discuss Will Smith's video apology, which somehow leads them into navigating through parenthood and how to help their children succeed in sports or talents without being pushy stage moms. Jeni and Ellie were guests on the podcast, https://www.getyourbingeon.com/ (Get Your Binge On) with Jessica Bolton this week to discuss the Hulu Original https://variety.com/2021/tv/news/michael-keaton-batman-dopesick-1235142367/ (Dopesick). The series covers the Opioid crisis created by Purdue Pharma and the FDA, in which they misled the medical community into believing the drug was not addictive.
