The Miami Bass movement was extremely prominent in the 80s and 90s, thanks to legendary artists like 2 Live Crew, MC Shy D, Planet Patrol, Gucci Crew, Anquette, Poison Clan and Clay D. The DJ's also played a significant role in the movement as well, like Mr. Mixx, DJ Magic Mike, DJ Laz, Uncle Al, Jam Pony Express, Felix Sama, Power Supply and Jealous J (Jim Jonsin). While most people think Uncle Luke when talking about Miami Bass, the scene was so thick as Andre would say. Before you had Pitbull, Flo Rida, Kodak Black, Rick Ross, Ace Hood, DJ Khaled, Stitches, Lil Pump or XXXTENTACION, you had this great music featured on our 1 hour and 23 minute mix. We know our core audience is prominently east coast (bias) and we all know where hip-hop started. If you're a fan of Take It Personal, you'll know we cover everything and take pride in showcasing music from all over. But it's important to listen, understand and appreciate what other regions like the South have to offer. We don't expect you to love everything we play, but everything played on this tribute was played for a reason. This is an extensive timeline of Miami Bass themed music and while the Miami sound evolved and featured less bass as the years went on, all these tracks capture an important time in music, especially in the MIA. This is our Miami Bass Tribute. We hope you all enjoy it!

What is it about modern producers that makes them as marketable as performing artists? The crew unpacks this and other questions as we talk about how the role of the producer has evolved into a tastemaker for the music industry. Topics include: The difference between producers like Puffy and DJ Premier, what makes a producer hot, and defining "traditional" hip-hop production and what it sounds like. We also provide a sonic exploration of the genesis of Atlanta's beats that links MC Shy D to Young Thug. We close the show with the King of TV, and talk about Atlanta, one of our new favorite TV shows. Thanks to BrooklynRadio.com and Brickhaus Studios. P.S. Don't do it, Delores!
The crew is joined by Tommy and Daniel, two 'hip-hop heads' and we discuss what it means to be a hip-hop fan, how fans have changed and advice for younger hip-hop fans on how to be official. We also get into the Lord Finesse lawsuit, business management and MC Shy-D. Shouts to notjustnoise.com!
The city of Atlanta has a complex and long history with Hip Hop going back into the late 1970’s. Much of this history pre-LaFace records, pre-Outkast and GooDie MoB isn’t known. Headland & Delowe is a documentary series attempting to weave together the story lines of the artists, managers, promoters and journalists of Atlanta Hip Hop over the past three decades to get an understanding of where Atlanta Hip Hop has been and where it might be going. In this episode I speak with pioneers like B-Boy Zapper of ATL’s HBO crew, MC Shy D and DJ Jelly, current stars like Cee-lo, Pill and DJ Mars and underground stalwarts like Senor Kaos and H20. Welcome to Headland and Delowe. This Internet radio series initially aired on BrooklynRadio.net in late 2010 and 2011. A film version of this audio documentary is in production. As promised, I'm offering the entire series for free. The series theme music changes with each episode. The instrumental is produced by ATL’s DJ Variable of the Audubon Society DJ tandem. All of the music beds and bumpers featured in this series is Rap & Hip Hop from the City of Atlanta. In order of appearance: Lil Will ft Cool Breeze - “Looking for Nikki” MC Shy D - Shake it Mojo - “Jump Stomp & Twist” Crime Mob - “Knuck if you Buck” (Instrumental) Cee-Lo ft GooDie MoB - “Night Train” Grip plyaz - “You already Know” (Live) Shawty Lo - “Dey Know” (Instrumental) Outkast - “Crumblin’ Erb” Success ‘N Effect - “Freeze” Mass Influence - “Rhyme Placement” Sammy Sam - “The Hitman” Kilo ft. Big Boi - “Love in your Mouth” Pill - “Hear Somebody Coming” DJ Spinna ft Senor Kaos - “Just call me Senor” Ghetto Mafia - “Trap Be Jumping” (Instrumental) Donnis - “More Fiya” DG Yola live with the XO Band - “I aint gon’ let up”
A groovin mix of hip hop goodies and a sprinkle of house tracks! Included in the lineup: Gucci Crew II, MC Shy D, 69 Boyz, Ciara, Fonzworth Bentley, Black Eyed Peas, Louie Vega, Cajmere & More!--DJ LoveDeluxe
In homage to the music he suckled on as a youth, badass beat junkie Bobby Corridor has put together this colossal hip hop megamix, shoeshorning an obscene 600+ tracks into 90 minutes. In what he describes as 'a blip in the matrix', Mr Corridor has been nominated for best hip hop DJ in this year's DJ Awards. If you'd like to help Bobby on his way to sipping a mojito around the pool as Cox and Tong lord it about in their g-strings, head over there and give your support! Alternatively, you can make yourself a mojito and check out Bobby's wicked Reggae Source mixtape that he recorded for Spannered in 2007. Everybody in the house say hell yeah!
