BT & Sal ignite a heated argument with Hoff over a hypothetical Mets trade proposal by Jim Bowden, which sends four top prospects (Tong, Sproat, Williams, Mauricio) to Detroit for one year of Cy Young winner Tarik Skubal. BT is "in a heartbeat" for the trade, arguing they must be aggressive to land a frontline ace. Hoff slams it as "irresponsible", insisting they absolutely cannot trade that "butt load of prospects" without a guaranteed contract extension, comparing the high cost to the Yankees' "bunch of nothing" price for Juan Soto. The debate centers on risk: the Mets' willingness to gamble on an extension versus the risk of being "stupid" and losing their best young talent for a one-year rental. BT and Sal dive deep into a fiery debate over the Yankees' third base decision for 2026: pursue the superior, clutch, but aging Alex Bregman or settle for the defense-first Ryan McMahon, warning against a DJ LeMahieu-like decline. On the Mets side, the discussion ignites over a trade proposal for Cy Young-level pitcher Tarik Skubal, requiring four top prospects (Tong, Sproat, Jett Williams, Mauricio). Sal views losing the prospects without a guaranteed extension as "irresponsible," while BT and Hof argue a generational talent like Skubal is worth the risk. Finally, the hosts battle over their Week 12 NFL Power Rankings, with BT controversially crowning his Denver Broncos as the AFC's best team, even predicting a Broncos vs. 49ers Super Bowl, while Sal struggles to trust the inconsistency of the Eagles and Bills.

It was fabulous to welcome Melissa Hague back to the Confidence Conversations podcast to explore something that comes up time and time again in coaching and confidence work: values.Melissa shares how values like curiosity, expertise, and home shape how she shows up in life and work, and how they support confidence, even when self-doubt is loud.We talk about what it means to live into your values, how they evolve, and how they can help you hold both confidence and nerves at the same time.If you've ever struggled to name your values, to understand how they could work, what they look like in the everyday or wondered how they link to confidence, this one's for you.” Love the podcast? Can the various mating rituals, displays, and behaviors of birds apply to the lives of humans in the 21st Century, with our own uniue rituals, displays and behaviors? It's a question that birder and writer Bryony Angell asks as she approached her own renewed dating life in an article The Migratory Suiter, published in the most recent issue of BWD. In doing so, she enlists the help of Dr Wenfei Tong. author of Bird Love: The Family Life of Birds, to compare the respective courtship drama of birds and humans. Sometimes the most interesting things happen when we stop trying to confirm what we think we know. In clinic, certainty can close doors—but curiosity opens them. There's a kind of listening that goes beyond the intellect, a way of paying attention that allows discovery to unfold on its own time.In this conversation with Dan Bensky, we explore the art of noticing. What it means to let medicine be a call and response rather than a performance of knowledge. We talk about the practitioner's stance—one that values modesty over mastery, sensation before interpretation, and the quiet skill of finding something you weren't looking for.Listen into this discussion as we trace ideas of Tong and connection, the dance between palpation and perception, the discipline involved with not-knowing, and how true competence might simply mean being willing to check yourself. This is a conversation for anyone who's ever paused mid-treatment and thought, “Huh… that's odd.” Because sometimes, that moment—the one that unsettles what you thought you knew—is where the treatment really begins.
Episode Notes:Dr Ho describes an empirical research agenda focused on how security actually operates in organisations. He explains his experience with getting this research off the ground to allow them to perform the research in this setting.Study setting and scope: eight-month randomised controlled trial at UC San Diego Health involving ~19,500 employees and ten distinct phishing campaign lures.Annual awareness training: the study found no significant relationship between how recently staff completed the mandated course and their likelihood of failing a simulated phishing campaign.Embedded training (when someone clicks a phishing simulation and is immediately redirected to training): the measurable improvement was very small (≈2% reduction in failure rate) and varied significantly by lure and engagement.Engagement challenge: The vast majority of embedded-training sessions were extremely short or incomplete, a key factor in explaining limited effect size.Variability of lure difficulty: Some phishing lures elicited very low click-rates (~1.8%) while others up to ~30.8%, indicating that the phishing stimulus matters as much as, or more than, the training intervention.Practical takeaway: Organizations should treat training (especially annually mandated modules) as only one part of a broader defence strategy, and design empirical measurement systems (including controls, realistic lures, and sustained engagement) before assuming large effect sizes.About our Guest:Dr Grant Ho Profile: https://cs.uchicago.edu/people/grant-ho/Papers or resources mentioned in this episode:Ho, G.; Mirian, A.; Luo, E.; Tong, K.; Lee, E.; Liu, L.; Longhurst, C.A.; Dameff, C.; Voelker, G.M. Marcus Loane said no. The King said yes. For the first time in more than 800 years, an English monarch has prayed publicly with the Pope.King Charles III — the Supreme Governor of the Church of England — joined Pope Leo XIV in the Sistine Chapel in a highly choreographed moment of unity. But for many Protestants, this was not a moment to celebrate, but to grieve,The Reformation was born out of deep conviction that Rome had departed from the apostolic gospel — that salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone. Those convictions have not changed. And yet, the sight of a Protestant king kneeling in prayer beside the Pope suggests that they believe these dividing lines no longer matter, that the Reformation is no longer relevant.Half a century ago, in 1970, when Pope Paul VI visited Australia, Sydney Anglican Archbishop Sir Marcus Loane — refused to pray with the Pope, saying shared prayer implied shared faith, and that the great truths of the Reformation still mattered: salvation by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone.Loane's grandson, Dr Stephen Tong, joins Rachel Ciano, Lecturer in Church History at Sydney Missionary and Bible College, and Dominic Steele on The Pastor's Heart to discuss what's happened in Rome this week - as the leaders of the Roman Catholic and Church of England Churches downplay the Reformation's significance. The Mets handled business on a Thursday afternoon at Citi Field, beating the Padres 6–1 behind a sharp rebound from rookie Jonah Tong and home runs from Pete Alonso and Brandon Nimmo. Tong struck out eight over five innings and allowed just one run as New York clinched the series and widened its cushion for the NL's final Wild Card spot. Alonso homered in the first (his fourth straight game with a HR) and later added a sac fly, while Nimmo broke it open with a three-run shot in the third. With the win, the Mets are 79–74—two games up in the Wild Card race—with nine games remaining. #Mets #LGM #MetsWin #MetsNation #NYM #MetsBaseball #PeteAlonso #BrandonNimmo #JonahTong #CitiField #MetsVsPadres #MetsHighlights #MLB #MLBPlayoffs #MLBWildcard #Baseball #MLB2025 #LetsGoMets #QueensBaseball #NewYorkSports #LockedUpSports

Some things can't be seen—only felt. The texture of presence, the quiet shifts in atmosphere, the way the body speaks before words arrive. In the clinic, it's not always the protocols or point prescriptions that lead the way, but something quieter. Something more fluid. In this conversation with Felix de Haas, we meander through the tactile world of East Asian medicine—through pulse, palpation, and the subtle feedback that unfolds when you listen with your hands. Felix shares how Chinese medicine didn't just appear in his life—it found him. And how the most meaningful parts of practice often live in the places we're still learning to trust.Listen into this discussion as we explore the idea of 通 tong as communication and opening, the felt shape of qi, why protocols eventually fall away, and how clinical insight often begins with not knowing.Felix brings a lifetime of experience, sense of history, and a willingness to stay curious. This conversation is for anyone who's ever wondered if the body might be whispering more than we're used to hearing.

Sal and BT furiously debate the Mets' decision to keep rookie Jonah Tong in the rotation while moving veteran Sean Manaea to the bullpen. Sal argues that it's a "stupid" and illogical move, given Tong's recent implosion where he couldn't get out of the first inning, and Manaea's more stable, albeit inconsistent, performance. While BT acknowledges Tong's "electric stuff" and Manaea's struggles, he respects the organization's conviction in their top prospect. The hosts dive into the numbers, including Tong's high ERA and walk rate, contrasting it with Manaea's, to highlight the baffling nature of the decision as the Mets are in a tight playoff race.

Hour 1 Jerry and Willie Colon fill in for Boomer and Gio, discussing the start of college football season, which Willie and Eddie love, unlike NFL-fan Jerry. They feel old watching sons of players they grew up with. The Mets beat the Phillies, with controversy around Juan Soto's timeout and appreciation for Francisco Lindor. Willie hopes parabolic mics and this series turn the Mets around. The Yankees and Giancarlo Stanton continue their success against the Nationals. C-Lo's update covers Brandon Nimmo's walk-off, Edwin Diaz's save, and Jonah Tong's upcoming MLB debut, which Jerry believes will spark the team. Jerry and Willie agree Stanton is a Hall-of-Famer and enjoys playing outfield. The Yankees gained a game as the Blue Jays blew a lead. The Giants waived Tommy DeVito, and the Jets cut Malachi Corley. Finally, Jerry asks Willie about Burning Man, leading to a discussion of his sandstorm experience in Arizona, whether he could perform in an "orgydome" at his age, and which former teammates and show crew members he'd take. Hour 2 The hour begins with the engagement announcement of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce. Willie discusses prenups, having one himself, while others on the show do not. Eddie sees prenups as a sign of mistrust. Jerry wonders if the engagement will help Kelce focus on the upcoming season. A caller provides a female perspective on prenups. C-Lo, who also lacks a prenup, provides an update. Jerry and Willie note that cheating isn't exclusive to men. In sports, the Mets beat the Phillies, Giancarlo Stanton led another Yankee win, and Shedeur Sanders made the Browns' initial 53-man roster. The hour concludes with Jerry telling Willie about Shaun Morash's bet that Travis Kelce will incorporate Taylor Swift's last name into his. If so, Evan will take his wife's name as payment. Jerry and Willie agree with Evan's stance but wouldn't have risked the same wager. Willie emphasizes athletes' need to protect earnings, especially in the NFL. Hour 3 The hour began with a discussion on Micah Parsons' hold-in and alleged back injury, with Willie and Jerry expecting a deal, though Willie notes the difficulty of returning to play immediately. NFL cutdown day saw the Jets release Malachi Corley, prompting Willie to suggest they need another receiver. Willie also explained how small-school players are scouted, calling the combine overrated. C-Lo returned with an update after a segment on the Jerry Jones Netflix documentary, which C-Lo and Jerry are enjoying. The conversation then shifted to concussion protocols then versus now. The Mets beat the Phillies after Ryan Helsley blew a save and are going for a sweep tonight. The Yankees won against the Nationals with Luis Gil pitching five strong innings, saved by Tim Hill. The Yankees and Mets will play on 9/11 next year, with the season starting unusually early on March 25th. C-Lo presented musical clips, including Evan and Shaun singing "Tong" and Gary, Keith, and Ron singing "Take Me Out to the Ballgame," leading to a discussion on karaoke songs. The hour concluded with Jerry sharing a coincidence related to a small college and then discussing excitement for college football. Finally, Jerry recounted a story about a man in Wisconsin who faked his death to leave his family and meet a woman, now facing jail time. Hour 4 The final hour begins with Jets radio voice Bob Wischusen, following Willie's story about Mike Tomlin using “In the Air Tonight” to motivate his team. Bob discusses the Jets' potential for a good season, expressing optimism about their chances of playing meaningful games in December. C-Lo returns for his final update, where Willie learns about "Al" after CBS Sports Network aired Jerry's "fraud" clip. Ryan Helsley blew the Mets' lead, but they won in the 9th. Giancarlo Stanton drove in all five Yankees runs in their win, leading Jerry to call him a first-ballot Hall-of-Famer. C-Lo wonders what Travis Kelce had left to say proposing to Taylor Swift, while Jer ...
