Cobalt Blue Ltd chief executive officer Dr Andrew Tong talked with Proactive about the recent three-year extension to major project status for the Broken Hill Cobalt Project. Dr Tong explained that this extension provides crucial time to advance the project to a financing decision, particularly as cobalt prices have declined over the past few years. “We need to wait for that cobalt price to come back, to be able to attract the investment,” he said. He also highlighted the project's potential to deliver a standalone cobalt supply that is independent of copper and nickel industries, noting that most of the world's cobalt currently comes as a byproduct from the Democratic Republic of Congo. Additionally, Dr Tong discussed Cobalt Blue's new scoping study for the Halls Creek Copper Zinc Project in Western Australia. The study outlines a ten-year project with the first five years as open-cut mining and the latter five years underground. Initial production targets include 5,000 tonnes of copper metal and 15,000 tonnes of zinc sulfate. Dr Tong expressed optimism about advancing Halls Creek to a feasibility study and bringing it online within the next three to four years. U.S. Military Records Highest Aviation Accidents In A Decade; What Is The Major Cause Of Rising Incidents? The EurAsian Times says, “FY2024 was one of the worst aviation safety years for the US Army in a decade.” They cite statistics from the Aviation Division of the Directorate of Analysis and Prevention at the U.S. Army Combat Readiness Center showing a “steady decline in mishap rates per 100,000 hours beginning in 2006.” FY2022 saw a record low of 0.50 Class A mishaps per 100,000 hours, but that rate doubled in 2023 and the FY2024 Class A mishap rate (1.90) was almost four times greater than FY2022. Air Wisconsin Halts Scheduled Flights, Future Uncertain American Airlines' 5-year contract with Air Wisconsin for regional capacity has ended. The April 3, 2025 breakup was announced last January, when Air Wisconsin President and CEO Robert Binns noted that the airline is making a “strategic shift” to focus on government-subsidized Essential Air Service flying and charter operations. To date, the airline has been unsuccessful in winning any EAS contracts. Tong'an Changcha, a Zen master from China, wrote the poem 'Ten Verses of Unfathomable Depth' in the tenth century. It is still considered to be among the most profound teachings within the Zen tradition. Changcha lived in the Jianchang county of the Hong region and was a master of the Dharma with lineage inherited from Jiufeng. Changcha's poem, “Ten Verses of Unfathomable Depth,” is the basis for the work Unfathomable Depths by Sekkei Harada that explores Sōtō theory and practice. The book uses Changcha's poem as a starting point to address questions about the nature of Dharma transmission, how to practice with koans, and how to understand the "just sitting" of Sōtō Zen.
