On this episode of “Bad Speakers TV,” Ya Boi Shad and G. Downs sat down with the self-proclaimed prince of the South, Lil Scrappy. Lil Scrappy shared his life story, starting with his upbringing in Atlanta, Georgia, with his grandparents. Later, he moved in with his mother, unaware that he would stay with her for the rest of his adolescence. After relocating to a more urban area with his mother, Lil Scrappy faced challenges with kids who were more advanced than him. He also spoke about his mother's drug dealing, pimping, and hustling activities, including hiding money in various locations. Lil Scrappy's journey into hip-hop began when he started writing music at the age of 10. With his mother's financial support he engaged in activities like photo shoots and CD printing to promote his music. A pivotal moment came when Lil Scrappy met Lil Jon and signed with BME Records after his hit song “Head Bussa” became a local sensation. He also recounted how he secured a record deal for the Atlanta group Crime Mob by simply mentioning the group to the record label. Lil Scrappy discussed the success of his hit single “Knuck If You Buck” and how he felt compelled to jump on the record. He also spoke about the breakup of Crime Mob and the reasons behind it. Lil Scrappy shared his early hit “No Problems” and mentioned his first album as a joint effort with the group Trillville. He also talked about the tension he faced when he wanted to collaborate with hip-hop icon and mogul 50 Cent. Lil Scrappy described 50 Cent's personality and how he offered financial assistance during a difficult time when Lil Scrappy needed mouth reconstructive surgery. He also discussed his hit single “Money in the Bank” and how it led to a residuals deal with the WWE. The WWE named one of their pay-per-views after the song, and Scrappy continues to receive money from them to this day. He then talked about signing with Ludacris and how the deal didn't work out in the long run. He also discussed the hit single “Bang” by Young Jeezy featuring Scrappy and T.I. and how the song came about. There was also an unreleased video for the song. He spoke about Kanye West and his recent rent situation, explaining why he understands some of Kanye West's statements. He also discussed how he earns money from the hit single “Buy You a Drink” by T-Pain and Young Joc because they used the song's money in the bank. He also talked about dating Amanda Seales. He also discussed Love and Hip Hop Atlanta, explaining his decision to join the show and how the opportunity arose. He addressed the authenticity of the show, delving into the viral episode where he and Stevie J engaged in a fight. Additionally, he shared insights into his relationship with his baby mom, Erica, and his interactions with other cast members on the show. He talked about his podcast and his top five Atlanta rappers of all time, including who he currently listens to and his current interests in hip-hop. Finally, he discussed his brief stint as a wrestler and his desire to do it again, but this time with the WWE. https://www.youtube.com/c/BadSpeakersTV https://www.instagram.com/badspeakerspodcast https://www.tiktok.com/@badspeakerspodcast https://twitter.com/BadSpeakers https://www.facebook.com/badspeakerspodcast

Guest Anthony Prince shares his proufound life experiences, which powerfully illustrate that past circumstances do not define our future and who we chosse to be. Growing up in a tumultuous environment, Anthony faced numerous hardships, including a chaotic, militant foster-family life that often resembled a criminal organization rather than a supportive environment. His story highlights how circumstances beyond one's control can lead individuals down difficult paths, often resulting in choices that may seem incomprehensible to outsiders. Welcome back to Hip Hop History this week we are getting into the fourth pillar of hip hop. This week it is all about the emcee. From DJ Kool Herc being his own emcee, to who is widely considered the first emcee, Coke La Rock. to game changers like Sugar Hill Gang, Kool Moe Dee, Big Daddy Kane, Rakim, The Notorious B.I.G., Jay-Z, Crime Mob and Migos. Rap has changed so much in the 50 years since its inception, but also has held on to some of the things that made rap, rap. Listen to this episode and find out the songs that were rap before rap, from the ground work laid in gospel music and rock n' roll, to pop acts who made it to billboard before a real rap track could. We have added snippets of tracks from way before 1974 to current day tracks and show the evolution of what an emcee is. Thank you to all of the emcees, M.C.'s, MC's and all the rappers for keeping the art form alive and well. Thank you to everyone who laid the ground work to make rap music the number one music genre in the world. And thank you for listening to this episode of Hip Hop History, thank you and have a great day.

I'm here to remind you that you are going to have to knuck and buck at your dreams. Knuck and buck at the haters. Knuck and buck at the naysayers. Knuck and buck at anything that doesn't serve in the betterment of you. What do I mean by that? Well, let's be honest. Life isn't a cakewalk, but it wasn't supposed to be.No one said it was going to be easy, but it was guaranteed that it would be worth it. Now, oftentimes you have obstacles or trials and tribulations that come our way and we isolate ourselves. We hide in the corner or even sometimes we run away. Well, it's time to change the narrative. It's time to show up to show out. And it requires you to get knuck if you want to get buck. It reminds me of this track from way back, way back when. It's from Crime Mob featuring in Lil Scrappy entitled, "Knuck If You Buck" and in it the rapper Princess says, "Yeah, we knucking and bucking and ready to fight. Bet you I'ma throw them thangs, so haters best to think twice." Is you ready? Remember, it's about the size of the fight in the dog and not the size of the dog in the fight. How bad do you want it? What are you to do if that hater is you? Hmm? You're going to have to stand up. Stand up so that you can show out because you know your truth and you know what it is you want. And you know what you don't want, because you are not happy. So get after it. Go after it and get knuck so you can get buck. All right. That's it for your dose of "Vitamin D." Be sure to follow us on all social media @VitaminDDawnDai and until next time, always remember, "you are your greatest asset." See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
“The snap music movement f*cked me up as a producer, but it was cool cause we was putting on for the city… Johnnie Cabbell played me “Laffy Taffy” and I said what the f*ck is this.. To a producer snap music was horrible.” ~ Lil Jay of Crime Mob & Don P of Trillville Crime Mob and Trillville do their first ever joint interview on The Progress Report Podcast to speak on their journeys in the music business, music genres in Atlanta changing over time (crunk, snap, swag, futuristic, trap music), getting their business affairs in order finally after 2015, their music getting sampled, their music becoming modernized now with social media, ghost writing, the new generation of Crunk Music, Migos popularizing Crime Mob's sound, and getting involved with the Millennium Tour and bringing a different energy to it.

Life can either happen to you or you're going to have to happen to life. And I don't know about you, but I'm going to choose the latter. Because I believe that we are in control of our lives. We can manifest things. Now, I do believe there are some things that we cannot control. Those things are simply out of our control. And it reminds me of this quote. Now, I don't know if I made this up, but it came to me. "While we cannot determine the weather, we can dictate how we weather the storm." Catch it. So I'm thinking to myself, we have so many adversities that come our way, right? It's almost as if we're like in a fight. And half the time we don't go after things because we are afraid of confrontation. I got another memo for you. You remember that track way back in the day and I'm saying way back because shoot to some, it is. "Knuck If You Buck" with Crime Mob featuring Lil' Scrappy. I feel like in life sometimes you're going to have to "knuck" when things get a little "buck" you feel me? And in it Princess says, "Yeah we knuckin' and buckin' and ready to fight. Bet you I'm going to throw them things so the haters better think twice." I messed that all up. But you know what I'm saying? The point is is that life is going to throw you blows and you can't crouch down and not participate in the fight. You got to fight for what you want. And half the time, that's a spiritual warfare. Half the time that's you mentally staying in the game. So stay in the game and get "knuck if you buck." All right. That's it for your dose of "Vitamin D." Be sure to follow us on all social media @VitaminDDawnDai and until next time, always remember, "you are your greatest asset."See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Recently we sat down with Lil Scrappy for an exclusive in-depth “Off The Porch” interview! During our conversation, he talked about the changes the city of Atlanta has gone through over the years, jumping off the porch when he was 12, his mother being active in the streets when he was growing up, getting the name Scrappy by having to defend himself, making lyrical rap when he first started, making “Headbussa” when he was just 15 years old, getting into a fight while performing the song, signing with BME, meeting Lil Jon after he signed, says that Lil Jon was more focused on Trillville than him, not getting any help on the double-album with Trillville, getting into an altercation with the police at a concert in Orlando, getting hit in the face with a bottle at one of his shows, everybody turning their back on him while he recovered, 50 Cent reaching out to him, doing a joint-venture with Lil Jon & G-Unit for his debut album ‘Bred 2 Die, Born 2 Live', not being happy with the way the album was marketed, signing with Disturbing The Peace, explains why he never released an album with them, walking off a Tyler Perry movie set to do the music video for “Helicopter”, not wanting to do ‘Love & Hip-Hop' at first, discovering Crime Mob, his new single “GA/FL” with Tom G, upcoming album, and much more! --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/dirtyglovebastard/support
Atlanta rapper Lil Scrappy made his rise to stardom during the crunk era of music alongside Lil Jon and acts like Crime Mob and Trillville. With songs like “Head Bussa” and “No Problems”, Lil Scrappy became recognized as the Prince of the South. He would eventually link with other Hip Hop acts and labels such as 50 Cent, Young Buck, G-Unit, Ludacris, and DTP to further establish his position as a rapper. In 2021, Lil Scrappy transitioned to reality television and made his debut on Love & Hip Hop Atlanta. He has been on the show ever since and on a new episode of The Progress Report Podcast, Lil Scrappy discusses his thoughts rewatching past episodes, coming up on 106& Park, fatherhood, relationships with other rappers, growing up with Momma Dee, and more! --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/theprogressreportpodcast/support

“As an entrepreneur in the music industry, I've learned to constantly find inspiration in all things around me, keep my ears to the streets, and support the youth”. Ambitious, courageous, and compassionate are words to describe Lalaa Shepard. She is a brand manager, media personality, DJ liaison, and owner of The Progress Report Media Group. She got her start in music and entertainment in her hometown Cincinnati, Ohio by working with local musicians and studios while in Highschool. Her mother introduced her to all genres of music from Hip Hop, gangster rap, R&B, soul, while her father introduced her to reggae music. Lalaa was heavily influenced by television shows such as BET's Rap City the Basement and 106&Park. Her ear for music was evident as she became the go to person for burning CDs full of underground records from local artists, Soulja Boy, Gucci Mane, Diamond of Crime Mob, and many other artists whose music was on LimeWire. Lalaa eventually relocated to Queens, New York to attend St John's University to study Public Relations and Journalism. During this time, Lalaa maintained a full-time job, 18 school credits, and wrote music articles for Yo! Raps. She eventually traveled back to Cincinnati to graduate college from Xavier University with a degree in Public Relations and Strategic Business Management in 2013. In the summer of 2013, Lalaa took advantage of social media by reaching out to her favorite music producers in attempt to assist them and get her feet wet in a more competitive music atmosphere. This led to Lalaa relocating to Atlanta, Georgia, and establishing a lucrative relationship with music producer Dun Deal (Dun Deal On The Track), the producer of Young Thug's “Stoner”, Migos “Hannah Montana”, Trey Songz “Cake” and many other records. Lalaa also assisted other musicians and began working with the Coalition DJs of Atlanta starting off as an intern and working her way up to become their official brand manager. Lalaa soon became recognized as the go to person for music placement, artist development, media exposure, and social media awareness. Lalaa then launched her own media company, The Progress Report Media Group (TPR Media Group) in 2015 offering Public Relations services and interviews to artists and producers that she developed relationships with over the years. Lalaa has been fortunate enough to speak with some of her favorite artists that she grew up listening to such as OJ Da Juiceman, Webbie, and Diamond of Crime Mob. The company now has 110,770 combined subscribers on social media, over 5 million views via YouTube, and has been featured on major publications such as XXL, SOHH, Dirty Glove Bastard, VLAD TV, HotSpotATL.com, Medium, DJ Akademiks, Worldstar, 96.7 The Beat ATL, Voyage ATL Magazine, Hot New Hip Hop, and Feedspot. Along the way, Lalaa has gained several mentors including DJ Scream who eventually invited her to join ‘Trapped Out Thursday's on 96.7 The Beat ATL/ iHeart Radio pre COVID-19. Lalaa also has hosted several music events and music conferences in Atlanta, LA, and North Carolina. She is committed to pushing the community forward making The Progress Report Media Group a household name. On a new edition of Conversations with Lalaa presented by The Progress Report, Lil Jay of Crime Mob tells the story of forming Ellenwood Area, Georgia (Atlanta) based group Crime Mob. The Hip Hop/ Crunk group created notable records such as “Knuck if you Buck”, “Stilettos”, “Rock Yo Hips”, “Circles”, and released 2 studio albums, ‘Crime Mob' and ‘Hated On Mostly'. During the interview, Lil Jay details growing up with his sister Princess and how she and Diamond weren't originally supposed to be a part of Crime Mob. Lil Jay was influenced musically by the likes of Three6Mafia, Lil Jon, Oomp Camp, Master P, and Pastor Troy and Lil Jay admits to making “Knuck if you Buck”, a song that would forever change his life, on a demo version of a Windows 95 program then he eventually converted to Fruity Loops. “Knuck if you Buck” would later go on to be sampled by several mainstream artists such as King Von, Lil Wayne, and the viral “Juju on the Beat” song. Lil Jay also discusses his intimate relationship with Diamond and how her on and off again relationship with Princess would eventually lead to the demise of Crime Mob. Crime Mob fans should be excited to know that there MAY be an upcoming third studio album, if everyone can get on the same page. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/theprogressreportpodcast/support

There's power in numbers, especially when it comes to black women. YMCMB songstress Shanell, former Danity Kane star D. Woods, Princess of Crime Mob and platinum-selling songwriter Mika Means have merged their talents together to form Project Girls Club, a group that not only boasts big female energy but also a sisterhood like no other. The ladies' first single "Run Up" is all about the girl power while playing with boastful 808s. The video does the same with the ladies turning up industrial style as their colorful personalities bursts out on every verse.
In August 2018-- Warner continues to re-release classiks on their digital compilations, giving us the opportunity to revisit gems from Crime Mob, Ciara, & The Braxtons, as well as Ashley Tisdale! In new releases, Justin Bieber (looking progressively flustered) lends his angelic voice to DJ Khaled's latest pop-hop number with Quavo. Ella Mai's single from early 2017 that became a sleeper-hit over the summer of 2018 is given a remix with -- who else?-- Quavo and Nicki Minaj. At the end of the show, three cuts from Lily Allen's "No Shame" are included, some of her most personal and musikally rousing material yet! I also perform stupid surgery on Kanye Wests' addition to Nas' new album (hard because of not just Kanye's appearence). #Quavoisoneverything Trackslist: 1. Like You (Re-Release) - Ciara & Lil Romeo - Hip Hop 2. Not Tonight (Album Version) (Re-Release)- Lil Kim - Hip-Hop 3. The Boss (Re-Release)- The Braxtons - Disco 4. He Said, She Said (Re-Release) - Ashley Tisdale - Progressive House 5. Rock Yo Hips (Re-Release) - Crime Mob - Hip-Hop 6. No Brainer - Justin Bieber + DJ Khaled + Quavo - Hip-Hop 7. Boo'd Up (Remix) - Ella Mai + Nicki Minaj + Quavo- R&B 8. Everything (BNM Edit) - Nas + Kanye West + The-Dream - Hip-Hop 9. Come On Then - Lily Allen - Electropop 10. Trigger Bang - Lily Allen - Pop 11. Everything To Feel Something - Lily Allen- Chillwave

We got a full house this week. Pastor Troy pulled up with Princess from Crime Mob and Darren Brand snuck off the Wild N Out set to join us. We talk to Troy about his thing for "little women", his beef with Master P, and of course we get some exclusive stories from the Southern Rap Legend. Things got a little weird when we tried to talk to Princess...
We reunite members of Crime Mob to get the inside story of Knuck If You Buck, the club anthem that defined the crunk era and took them from high school kids to rap legends. All tea, no shade—straight from the people who lived it: Diamond, Princess and Lil Jay.
In this episode my cohost, Kristy Chiles and I discuss Beyonce's 2018 coachella performance, today's RnB and hip hop and the huge influence it has on American minority culture.
Vince Phillips episode: full video is available on the Patchwerk Studios Youtube channel. In this episode Sammy sits down to speak with one of Atlanta's most well respected entertainment attorneys, Mr. Vince Phillips to discuss the following.... - why he decided to study entertainment law - how watching Jermaine Dupri go from "rags to riches" inspired his whole BME team - what it means to be a "skilled" entertainment attorney - what make him unique in the way he handles his clients - working with Lil Jon, Lil Scrappy, Trillville, Crime Mob, Young Bloodz, Young Jeezy - suggestions for new artist when dealing with attorneys - some of the differences between representing film vs music clients - the 360 deal & how it's evolved over time
This week Lolo and Valkyrie discuss Never Let Me Go By Kazuo Ichiguro. We look at dystopia and cloning and whether Juju on the Beat shows Crime Mob enough respect. (hint: it doesn't) Pour yourself a glass of wine. We play classy hoes this week...
S10E11 Of Live At 605: It's the penultimate episode of Live At 605 so you know we're bringing that hot fire! This week we tap into our trap roots and give praise to Crime Mob, Fetty Wap and TLC! We talk about getting knock over by a fat man, punched in the face by a girl and almost hit by a monster truck during a walk. We both have bad Subway experiences, John tickles the keys during a jam session and we celebrate a 1 year anniversary! We also talk alien encounters/demon possessions, give advise to a fan about the Super Bowl and we discover a new genre of karaoke. John meets a charismatic man, Val finds a mystery hat and lots of bum holes! Plus, our band of the week will take you to town! All this and more on Live At 605! June 26 we debuted a song that touched us musically. Our hosts were compelled by what they heard and booked the artist that performed that song. Ohio's very own Miss Storm brings her "Gunz and Roses" to The Neo Soul Show for a soulful conversation with the Q-Man and T. Mitch!! With a resume that includes Crime Mob, Lil Wayne, Erykah Badu, Musiq Soulchild and Keysha Cole, you should all "Love Music" by the end of the show.

The city of Atlanta has a complex and long history with Hip Hop going back into the late 1970’s. Much of this history pre-LaFace records, pre-Outkast and GooDie MoB isn’t known. Headland & Delowe is a documentary series attempting to weave together the story lines of the artists, managers, promoters and journalists of Atlanta Hip Hop over the past three decades to get an understanding of where Atlanta Hip Hop has been and where it might be going. In this episode I speak with pioneers like B-Boy Zapper of ATL’s HBO crew, MC Shy D and DJ Jelly, current stars like Cee-lo, Pill and DJ Mars and underground stalwarts like Senor Kaos and H20. Welcome to Headland and Delowe. This Internet radio series initially aired on BrooklynRadio.net in late 2010 and 2011. A film version of this audio documentary is in production. As promised, I'm offering the entire series for free. The series theme music changes with each episode. The instrumental is produced by ATL’s DJ Variable of the Audubon Society DJ tandem. All of the music beds and bumpers featured in this series is Rap & Hip Hop from the City of Atlanta.
