In this episode I chat to the wonderful Emily, who reached out to me over instagram wanting to share her positive birth story! Emily, a first time mum, decided to have a home birth, and explains the prep she did in pregnancy, as well as how she handled her birth. It's such a wonderful (and funny!) story that I hope reassures any parent hoping for a home birth! Emily Baker is a secondary school teacher and first time mum and gave birth to her son Stanley at home in July this year. After a really positive antenatal and homebirth experience with the NHS, Emily is now training to be a Hypnobirthing Instructor. Emily wanted to share her birth story in the hopes of inspiring other pregnant people in the same way that she felt so inspired by this podcast throughout pregnancy. Emily used her acting training as well as her birth education and research to have a successful physiological homebirth; using vocal techniques, breath work, focus and visualising her baby's journey throughout labour. Koala Airlines has a website, a management team and a vision to redefine air travel in Australia. Its boss is tight-lipped about where it will fly and when. But if it gets into the air, can it really succeed in taking on the big players Qantas and Virgin when so many others have failed, most recently Rex.  Today, Emily Baker on her Four Corners investigation into why Rex couldn't compete. Emily Baker explains that Koala Airlines aims to provide a different product or service, similar to how Aldi and IGA operate alongside Coles and Woolworths. She highlights that the Australian domestic market is dominated by a duopoly of Qantas and Virgin, making it challenging for new entrants. Emily discusses how Rex's attempt to enter the jet market and compete on the Golden Triangle routes ultimately led to its downfall. She also notes that Qantas and Virgin's aggressive competitive strategies played a significant role in Rex's failure. Emily says there's evidence that a third airline would push down airfares, and one way to achieve that would be to force Qantas to sell off Jetstar. Featured: Emily Baker, Four Corners reporterKey Topics:Koala AirlinesAustralian aviation marketQantas and Virgin duopolyRex Airlines failureGolden Triangle routesAirline competitionAirfare pricesBill AstlingLim Kim HaiJohn Sharp

An Artist in the Archive: Researching & Sculpting Nylon with Emily Baker

Artists bring a unique perspective to historical archives. Like any other researchers, they read and examine documents and collections to learn about their subject. Where their methods diverge is to use archival sources to shape the form and meaning of art created in two and three dimensions. The experiences of past people, accessed through the documents they left behind, can breathe life into the materials worked by an artist's hands. Visual artist Emily Baker, assistant professor of sculpture at Georgia State University, specializes in metalworking. When she encountered the repeated claim that nylon is stronger than steel, she wanted to learn more about the material, its production, and its meaning. Conducting research in the DuPont Company archives held in the Hagley Library, Baker gathered a treasure trove of context information and specific examples of nylon being linked to consumer psychology. Most notable in this connection was the frequent reference made in the archive to sex and gender roles and boundaries and their relevance to nylon. In support of her work, Baker received a grant from the Center for the History of Business, Technology, & Society at the Hagley Museum & Library. For more information, and more Hagley History Hangouts, visit us online at hagley.org.

We talk about angel cards, and oracle cards, and the difference between them as well as talking about tarot cards.  Tarot cards are different from the previous types of cards and are much more complex.  The other type of card used for readings is playing cards, which are used much like that of the tarot set.  Emily has also created her own set of cards called Perceptionary Cards, these are not a tarot set but much more left up to the user to interpret what they see and feel in the card.Jane at Mystique Wellbeing in Shrewsbury does sell a number of different types of cards, if you want to discuss or look at sets why not pop into her shop or contact Mystique Wellbeing?  https://www.facebook.com/people/Mystique/100059696545215/For a set of Perceptionary Cards go along to www.emilyjbaker.co.uk/shop to get your set there. Jane and Emily are both working psychics/mediums; yes, you can book a reading with them.  Emily also does public demonstrations with her mediumship and psychic art or mediumship with art. Breaking Free - A Body, Mind, Spirit Approach to Mental Health

Have your ever felt that the science of energetics (the balance of divine feminine and masculine energies) is too intangible for you to connect or understand? In this podcast, I invite Emily Baker, an Intuition and Leadership Life Coach, to discuss with us her “staircase model”. This model combines science, psychology, and energetics in an effort to show a predictable pattern of how energy expands and interacts within each of us as we grow across our lifespan and particularly as we learn to hear and follow our own intuition to create balance and union with others. Emily also focuses her work on understanding the rise of the divine feminine and how this rise may trigger responses in the masculine that are predictable and understandable. Her work is to help us find union between these energies as we rise together. Learn the predictable patterns you can use as guideposts to navigate your process of growth and development and join Emily as she uses the power of story to give language and structure to the masculine and feminine energies. There is a dance both within us and between us and all systems in our circles of these energies, so learn to better understand that dance and feel into where you are in your journey. Let's be more prepared to navigate our intentions to heal, expand, and show up in wholeness!
