We continue the GangStarr Foundation Month talking about one of the most incredible albums of 1994: Jeru the Damaja's "The Run Rises in the East" with first time guest Rob Cave (fka Spec Boogie) of Lessondary Crew! We discuss the unorthodox beats from Premier that differed from his work with Guru, the unmistakable flows from Jeru, the unforgettable videos, and then unhinged rants on foods with gooey centers, the improbable success of Logic, and all of the revisions The Source made over the years to their 5 Mic ratings! You can find Rob's music here:https://robcavejr.bandcamp.com/musicIf you want exclusive content or wish to see the video of this episode you can become a Patreon member using the link below: https://www.patreon.com/calloutculturepodcastYou can find our music here:Zilla Rocca:https://5oclockshadowboxers.bandcamp.com/musicCurly Castro:https://curlycastro.bandcamp.com/album/little-robert-huttonhttps://shrapknel.bandcamp.com/Alaska:https://thatrapperalaska.bandcamp.com/

Pls sub to the PPM Patreon to support our ongoing struggle against the Diddler trafficking nexus and to access the recently declassified "Dossier #6.A": patreon.com/ParaPowerMapping This is an emergency broadcast in light of recent developments. Diddy Declassified class is back in session. Dossier #4 has been bifurcated. This first part, now unlocked for your listening pleasure & edification, is a solo segue back into the series, contending w/ some of the recent developments in the downfall of the House of Diddy: Dossier #4.A - Includes coverage of some of the recent developments in the Diddler's downfall, such as the grand jury indictment & a slew of additional lawsuit complaints that have been filed in recent weeks by plaintiffs like Thalia Graves & Michigan convict Derrick Lee Cardello-Smith, as well as Alfredo P. Gonzalez, an incarcerated Sinaloan cartel member that had his lawsuit demanding $666k (sus) in damages as compensation for the biz he lost after allegedly getting blacklisted in the streets of NYC once he refused to traffick "boys / girls" for the Diddler dismissed by the presiding judge (sadly)... Fellow convict Cardello-Smith was much luckier (himself in prison on sex crime & unrelated kidnapping charges), as he received an initial $100 mil default judgment in his favor as Diddy failed to show up for the court proceedings or file a responsive motion. In the solo intro, we also go pretty deep on illustrating the interlocking ties between Z i o n i s t powerbroking families the Lauders (Estée Lauder) and the Bronfmans (Seagrams & otherwise) which brings the Diddler's close proximity to the Epstein-affiliated Mega Group into full view... As well as Harvey Weinstein. Illustrating how all of these entries in Diddy's Rolodex intersect both in the corporeal sense at his lavish, salacious Sean John x Estée Lauder fragrance launch parties, but also on a shared ideological Z i o n i s t level. And then we also examine Diddy's appointment of defense lawyer Marc Agnifilo (past clients include sexual monsters like NXIVM leader Keith Raniere, Harvey Weinstein, Dominique Strauss-Kahn, & Martin Shkreli, among many others) from this perspective of his shared social circle that numbers many Lauders & Bronfmans, and which brings Diddy buddy Edgar Bronfman Jr.'s family's close ties to the human potential sex cult into the mix, and which seems like a very foreboding bellwether for the Diddler's legal prospects, as pretty much all of Agnifilo's high profile defenses of sexual criminals & otherwise have failed utterly. We also get some of Edgar Bronfman Jr's music industry career details on the board, including his stint as CEO of Warner Music Group, which led to Bad Boy becoming an imprint for about 4 years, before he sold the major to fellow Z i o n i s t Len Blavatnik (not to mention buddy of cinema sex pests Harvey Weinstein & Brett Ratner). We talk the Diddler's apparent distro of illicit rape tapes, which takes his filming & blackmail tendencies to new noided heights... This is explored via the Thalia Graves lawsuit and Diddy's relationship w/ Rhymes & Dimes porno publisher & former celebrity bodyguard Big Joe Sherman. We talk about the corruption & bribery scandal in NY, Mayor Adams indictment, & a seemingly unrelated Hudson Valley case that resulted in a Judge putting his gun in his mouth & pulling the trigger while in the midst of a firefight w/ feds... And then there's a ton more besides. The art for this series, the Diddler nexus parapower map, was expertly rendered by noided pod design mastermind & friend of the show Robert Voyvodic (@rvoy__ on Twitter). Bring him your art & design needs and say Klonny sent you! Clips & Music (For 4.A & 4.B): | Thalia Graves & Gloria Allred lawsuit presser | | Mobb Deep - "Rare Species" (Instrumental) | | News clip re Diddy's apprehension | | Jeru the Damaja - "One Day" | | Trevor Moore - "Help Me" (Drunk Texts to Myself) | | Scarface ft Ice Cube - "Hand of the Dead Body" |

Pastor Jeru starts our Summer series called Timeless.
Zmo has been getting on me about this for months. So I decided to set it off with my brother from the same mother Dj Disc Dolo. We go over the impact as well as the historical context of Jeru Da Damaja's debut album, “The Sun Rises in the East.” We discuss the production, lyrics, and the impact Jeru had on the Boom Bap sound. This album is a classic but is underrated. That is not a hot take. It should be discussed alongside classics such as “Illmatic”and “Southernplayalisticadillakmusic.” Free Palestine and we express solidarity to them and other oppressed peoples around the world. Saīsinātā veidā piedāvājam tolaik 24 gadus vecās Viļakas bibliotekāres Viktorijas Stivriškas atmiņas, kas atklāj gan to, ko Latvijas cilvēki juta, gan to, kā viņi savā Baltijas ceļa vietā nonāca... "Mūsu Baltijas ceļa posms bija Rūjienas apkaimes Oleru ciems Jeru pagastā. No Viļakas izbraucām saulainā pēcpusdienā. Paldies par to!
Intro to the Climactic Battle over Jeru - Zech 12
In this episode, we will discuss the two new projects on the horizon. The first is one we got wind of during the fall of 2023 where Common announced he is working with Pete Rock on an upcoming project . The first single is called Wise Up. Secondly, on the 30th anniversary of Illmatic in April, Nas and DJ Premier have a new track Define My Name and apparently an album on the way! Shout out to Jeru's Sun Rises in the East who also had its 30th anniversary last week.
This week we count down the Top 5 Posse Cuts part 2 adding on to part one released back in 2022. We dissect each song and pick who had the best verse from each one. https://www.instagram.com/str8_the_clippa?igsh=cTBzNnFhenRkN3Nl&utm_source=qr https://www.tiktok.com/@brandonhetzel996?_t=8l9P80UjA8R&_r=1 https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100086006336425&mibextid=LQQJ4d
B. Cox reviews Gang Starr's classic fourth album Hard To Earn as it turns 30. After the critical success of 1992's Daily Operation, Guru and DJ Premier took a brief hiatus to pursue individual projects. Guru launched his Jazzmatazz series and Premier became one of the most sought after producers in industry, working with the likes Jeru the Damaja, The Notorious B.I.G., Nas and KRS-One. Coming back to record their fourth, the group wanted to prove that they were versatile and wanted to show that they could stray from their jazz-sampled sensibilities on their previous album and could rock with a different sound.Heavily involved with the project was the Gang Starr Foundation, a collective that was aligned with the duo that included the likes of Jeru, the hip-hop duo Group Home, Big Shug, Freddie Foxx (Bumpy Knuckles), Afu-Ra among others. The project featured Jeru, both Lil Dap and Melachi the Nutcracker and Big Shug. Unlike Daily Operation, the album was produced under a wider variety of musical influences. The album featured two classic singles: "DWYCK" with hip-hop duo Nice & Smooth (which was supposed to be originally on Daily Operation and "Mass Appeal". The album was critically acclaimed upon release and reestablished Gang Starr as a force within hip-hop. Sid Sowder! Episode No. 105! Too Much Rock!Wow! So much coolness.I was honored to meet and visit with Mr. Sowder, who has been doing his Kansas City music-community thing for a quarter of a century! Insane!Too Much Rock is his Web site, and I would really appreciate it if you would check it out. Even if just for a moment. He shoots concerts and curates his footage and images from numerous local live performances. He cranks out a weekly podcast that has been dropping weekly half-hour episodes for more than 12 years. And -- and! -- he produces a vinyl singles series! It's pretty wild.Sid was kind enough to share a little bit of his time with me, and we chatted life, this passion project of his, and a little bit about a few of his favorite albums. Those were these:Paranoid (1970), Black SabbathJoe Jackson's Look Sharp! (1979)Entertainment! (1979), Gang of FourAngry Samoans's Inside My Brain (1980)The Crew (1984), 7 SecondsSo, check out Too Much Rock. Check out my conversation with Sid. And, I don't wanna be that guy, but...sometimes ya' gotta be that guy: Please support local music.Thank you.copyright disclaimer: I do not own the rights to the audio samples contained within this episode. Pastor Jeru preaches on our standalone series entitled Repentance & Restoration.

We are thoroughly back into our regular episodes after a bumpy, special-riddled journey of recent times. And this one is about Erasure's sixth album 'I Say I Say I Say' from May of 1994. We have already done an Erasure album back in Season 2 and we thought that that record was just ok, maybe this one will be more up our street? Along the way we also chat about Jeru the Damaja, Pearl Jam and, erm, Toad The Wet Sprocket so enjoy those diversions. And as always check out the companion playlist for this episode with all of the songs we talk about included on it and please feel free to get in contact if you fancy - you can do so via our Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages. And you can catch up with our ongoing playlist made up of songs from all of the albums we've covered so far right here.

Pastor Jeru shares from Psalm 46 to start the year.
On this episode of the DOD45 show, episode 40, @ArtByTai & Adrienne have a chat with Dope Knife, while Tai sketches him a skull-inspired drawing. They discuss Mack's newest album The Dope One, released on @fakefourinc , and his family's journey from Liberia in the 90's fleeing the Civil War and ending up in Savannah, GA. They also discuss the origins of the moniker Dope Knife & how it reflects his grimey side, and Mack comments on Jeru the Damaja's influence on hip-hop. He also shares his appreciation for Ice-T and the discussion eventually imagines a scenario with a Dope Knife/Ice-T collaboration. Knife admits he wishes he had the opportunity to participate in the original Scribble Jam battles, and at some point they have a conversation about zombie ants and the state of Dope's podcast Waiting on Reparations. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/artbytai/message Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/artbytai/support

B. Cox reviews hip-hop duo Gang Starr's third album Daily Operation. After their critical and commercial breakthrough with their sophomore album Step In The Arena the year before, Guru and DJ Premier sought out to capitalize on their notoriety and recognition within hip-hop circles while staying true to the underground. Featuring appearances by the likes of Jeru the Damaja and Lil' Dap (soon of Group Home fame), the album was driven by a more lyrically confident, yet introspective, confident Guru and the jazzy yet hard hitting production of an improving DJ Premier. Though the album did not attain the commercial success of a RIAA certification, it has been hailed by critics and fans alike as another album pioneering both jazz infused hip-hop and a leading influence on the New York and East Coast underground scene in the early 1990s.Visit The Vault Classic Music Reviews Onlinewww.vaultclassicpod.comLearn More About the "Podcast GPS" BootCamp Course!www.vaultclassicpod.com/podcastgpsSupport The Vault Classic Music Review on Buy Me A Coffeehttps://www.buymeacoffee.com/vaultclassicpodShow NotesAlbumism: Gang Starr's "Daily Operation Turns 25" | Anniversary Retrospectivehttps://albumism.com/features/tribute-celebrating-25-years-of-gang-starr-daily-operationRock The Bells: Classic Albums: Daily Operation by Gang Starrhttps://rockthebells.com/articles/gang-starr-daily-operation/The Boom Box: 25 Years Later: Gang Starr's "Daily Operation Forged A Path For Hardcore Individualityhttps://theboombox.com/25-years-later-gang-starrs-daily-operation-forged-a-path-for-hardcore-individuality/Support this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/the-vault-classic-music-reviews-podcast/donationsAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy
