Vegans are visionaries. We hold a vision of a nonviolent future where all animals are free from human imposed commodification, suffering, and killing. What if this vision was on the ballot and we could vote on it? That could be happing soon with the Oregon Initiative Petition 28 — officially titled the PEACE Act, People for Elimination of Animal Cruelty Exemptions. This ballot initiative would eliminate the legal exemptions that currently protect hunting, fishing, trapping, and farming from Oregon's animal abuse statutes. David Michelson is the visionary heading up this historic effort and on this episode he shares insights into the campaign including why he decided to start it, why in Oregon, and what its passing would mean for animals. He also clears up some misconceptions about the campaign and talks about our vision as a movement and how we need to hold onto the hope for total animal liberation. David Michelson is the lead organizer behind a ballot initiative campaign in Oregon that seeks to ban the killing and breeding of all animals statewide—including those on farms, in research labs, and in the wild. David started this campaign in 2020, and is currently working on qualifying it for the 2026 upcoming election. #ciencia #curiosidades #divulgacion

Healing isn't a checkbox; it's a way of relating to what hurts. We sit down with Insight Meditation teacher and author Justin Michelson to explore a grounded path through stress, pain, and trauma that begins with self-compassion and widens into nature, lineage, and something larger than ourselves. Justin's website: JustinMichelsonDharma.comJustin's book: The Dharma of HealingFrom his first teen meditation class to hard-won lessons with overwhelming energies, Justin shares how he moved from striving to surrender—trading the warrior stance for a bow that restores safety and connection. We dive into a powerful framework he calls the four turnings of the wheel of healing: surface compassion for daily frictions, depth compassion for buried fear and grief, collective compassion for what family and culture seeded in us, and universal compassion that lets us rest in a benevolent field. Along the way, we unpack his striking metaphor of self-aversion as psychological autoimmunity—how our ancient impulse to pull away from pain turns inward and keeps wounds stuck—and how kind attention unwinds that loop. For listeners far from forests, Justin offers simple, sensory ways to let nature be a teacher: a patch of sun, a street tree, the feel of wind as a reminder that we're held by more than our thoughts.Justin also opens a window into his Native Foods Nursery, where tending edible native plants becomes a living practice of reciprocity and belonging. Teaching, for him, is shared practice—not perfection—where the goal is to help people remember their own inner wisdom and build resilience that can meet a turbulent world. If you've been craving practices that are practical, humane, and spacious enough for real life, this conversation offers a map and the companionship to walk it.If the episode resonates, share it with a friend who could use a gentler path forward, and leave a review so more people can find these practices. Success blinded him. Feedback opened his eyes.Dan Michelson, CEO of RLDatix, told me a feedback story that completely changed his leadership. He said:“Success blinded me to what I personally needed to get better at.”Most top leaders don't realize they're slipping until someone tells them the truth they don't want to hear. This feedback was so hard to hear that he literally blamed the person who gave it to him.Years later, he says that moment became a defining moment. He realized that success had insulated himself from also having the hard and direct feedback conversations his team needed. When he stepped into leading 2,300 people, the cost of avoiding feedback became impossible to ignore. That's when he adopted a simple mantra that now defines his entire leadership approach:“Coaching is caring.”He even told me about a 3.5-hour feedback meeting... not because something was broken, but because growth mattered that much!!!Here's the truth:Feedback hurts.Avoiding it hurts more.Great leaders CHOOSE the pain that builds them.Agreed?-----Connect with the Host, #1 bestselling author Ben FanningSpeaking and Training inquiresSubscribe to my Youtube channelLinkedInInstagramTwitter

Step into the world of London's most iconic cheese emporium with Patricia Michelson, founder of La Fromagerie, as she joins The Go-To Food Podcast. From a single wheel of Beaufort cheese smuggled home from a disastrous ski trip to running three of London's most beloved food destinations, Patricia shares how a moment of serendipity sparked a movement that transformed how the city eats. Hear how she turned her garden shed into a “cheese cave,” won over Michelin-starred chefs, and built a thriving, independent food business — all without investors, all on instinct. In this conversation packed with stories and flavour, Patricia recounts her early days selling cheese at Camden Lock Market, the birth of her Marylebone café culture, and the surprising musical history of her family — including her brother's 1960s restaurant, Mr. Love, on Brook Street, where Jimi Hendrix once stayed upstairs. From those heady Soho days to her invention of “small plates” years before it became a trend, Patricia's journey is a love letter to creativity, connection, and courage in the world of food. From truffle pasta and toasted cheese made with a splash of white wine to tales of chefs like Gordon Ramsay and Jamie Oliver discovering the joys of raw milk, Patricia brings the spirit of London's culinary scene to life. This is a story about taste and tenacity, told by the woman who taught a city how to eat cheese — with a rock'n'roll twist.--------Please leave us a great rating and a comment and share it with your friends - it really helps us grow as a show.If you're in the industry and are looking for the greatest POS system in the world than look no further -as Blinq are tearing up the rulebook—no long-term contracts, no hidden fees, and no per-device charges.Just £69 a month for unlimited devices and 24/7 UK-based support that's always there, in person when you need it.Built for hospitality, by hospitality, blinq is the fastest, easiest POS system on the market—so intuitive, anyone can use it. Luke shares the journey from that first bed build with his church youth group to leading an international movement powered by volunteers, local chapters, and companies eager to make a difference. More than just building beds, they are a community working together to restore dignity, comfort, and hope, one child at a time.If you've ever wondered how a single act of kindness can create a wave of positive change for so many, Luke's conversation will beautifully demonstrate this. Luke Mickelson transformed a simple family project into Sleep in Heavenly Peace, an international organization that has provided over 300,000 beds to children who were previously sleeping on floors. What began as a bunk bed built with Boy Scouts in his Idaho garage has evolved into over 400 chapters across four countries, addressing the hidden crisis of "child bedlessness" that affects approximately 3% of children in every community.Let's enjoy his story.
