Another One-Nil win at the Fortress has Charlotte FC poised in the Top 5 of the MLS Eastern Conference, as a playoff berth starts to become less of a hope and more of an expectation. The result was perfect despite the match being a bit of a tough watch with missed chances galore...even the Gaffer only rated his squad at a 6/10. Hayes & Brams are here to break it all down and get ready to Go Again in the midweek, home vs Orlando SC. We dive into scoring woes, defensive prowess, Bronico's workrate, Agyemang's inconsistency, potential new signings, playing and training in the heat...and the big ask from TSE for $650 Million dollars of our tourism budget. It's an episode with a little bit of everything and it's always For the Crown, Baby!

In this episode of the Designated Players Podcast, the guys are back and this week they're coming with a quarter season recap on MLS action thus far. As we are just about at the quarter mark for most teams, we wanted to take a look at each team and answer a few "simple" questions. We ask, 1) is the team under or over performing, 2) who has been the best player, and 3) who has been the team's most and least impressive players this year. Some teams were so easy it only took about a minute to answer, others however we are still trying to answer to this day. We did have to split the recap into 2 separate episodes, so this episode is covering the Eastern Conference, and we will be discussing the Western Conference in episode 151, so give it a listen!Recorded on: 4/11/2023Let us know your thoughts and if we got it right or right!Send any emails with questions or comments to: thedppod@gmail.comFollow the Pod on Social Media!Website: https://thedppod.buzzsprout.com/Twitter: https://twitter.com/TheDPPod1Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/designated_players_podcast_/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/TheDPPodTikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@thedppod

The latest AFTN Soccer Show is out for another packed show of Vancouver Whitecaps and Major League Soccer chat.Although this week it is in fact mostly MLS talk as the playoffs got underway this past weekend. Full of excitement, drama, controversy, and actual WTF moments, once again it all felt like a league far removed from where the Whitecaps are right now. A reality slap right in your face. Blam! Blam! (that will make more sense when you listen to the show!)We look at the six playoff games played so far and some of the questions coming out of them like why don't teams invest in their defences more, how much advantage will teams allowing fans in have, and does the success of Nashville emphasise the need for Vancouver to add some MLS veterans? The games signalled the end of the road for one of the two Canadian teams to make the MLS postseason - Montreal Impact - and we hear from Thierry Henry and Luis Binks about the end to their league season and the wait now for Champions League games next month. And of course we look at the craziness that was that Orlando City v NYCFC penalty shoot out, and hear the postgame thoughts of Oscar Pareja and Nani.Plus we look at the MLS awards, the layoffs at MLSsoccer.com, and talk MLS jersey sales. Here's the rundown for the main segments from the episode:02.37: MLS Western Conference playoff chat39.16: MLS Eastern Conference playoff chat 51.40: Montreal Impact chat featuring Thierry Henry and Luis Binks67.24: The epic that was Orlando City v NYCFC98.46: Wavelength - Red Flag '77 - Football Crazy102.30: MLS awards and a fun quiz115.27: MLS layoffs and the state of football media in North America

This week on Last Word SC Radio, Matt and Rachael get together to discuss the Colorado Rapids COVID news, Gonzalo Higuian's auspicious debut, and LAFC losing to San Jose Earthquakes. The two discuss who the best team at the top of the MLS Eastern Conference. We then do the Round Table and Weekend Pick 'Ems.
Nashville SC sits in ninth in the MLS Eastern Conference standings with 10 games to go in the 2020 regular season. Unbeaten at home since the season's restart, continuing such form could lead Nashville to making MLS Cup playoffs. Will this feat for Nashville come to pass? Plugged In co-hosts Drake Hills and Nick Gray break down the remaining games for Nashville in 2020, analyze which matchups are must-wins and discuss the importance for Nashville continuing its good form at Nissan Stadium. Soccer is back (in some places) and yet the MLS keeps canceling things. We are here to talk about some of those things that are now not going to happen in 2020 and the return of the Bundesliga (behind closed doors), with one eye firmly glued to any updates of MLS potentially bringing all teams to Orlando for some games. Friend of the PawedCast Patrick Murphy of Massive Report jumped on with us this week to tell us what the pandemic has been like in one of the other MLS Eastern Conference cities — Columbus — and to give an outsider’s perspective of the MLS-to-Orlando plan, along with other thoughts in this weird and awful time. Big thanks to Patrick for joining us. Again. We answer our listeners’ questions, which includes some discussion of beer as well as what pizza ingredients are represented by Orlando City players, among other topics. If there’s anything — and we do mean anything —you want us to address on our next show, just ask by tweeting it to us at @TheManeLand with the hashtag #AskTMLPC. We continued our rewatch of the Marvel Cinematic Universe this week, discussing both Captain America: The First Avenger and Marvel’s The Avengers. Needless to say, the quality improved this week and it is reflected in our updated power rankings. Be sure to give us yours! Finally, we get to some NWSL news, as the entire league could be headed to Utah to play in a tournament from late June to late July. Basically it’s the MLS-to-Orlando plan, except in Utah and with fewer teams. But soccer is good, so we hope that if the teams can’t play in their home stadiums, that they can finally get the season underway somewhere. Stay safe and enjoy the show. Here’s how show No. 197 went down: 0:15 - Everything is canceled! Well, not the full MLS season (yet) but the league did nix three high-profile events. Oh, and there’s soccer in Germany going on in empty stadiums. It’s pretty great to see, even if VAR still sucks (but I have a fix for that!). 28:57 - Patrick Murphy brings a Columbus-centric view of the coronavirus pandemic and subsequent sports stoppage to the show. Plus, we get the outsider’s opinion on the entire league coming to Orlando. Oh, and he hasn’t watched Tiger King yet. 54:27 - Questions about pizza, beer, and soccer. Plus our MCU rewatch continues as we discuss Captain America: The First Avenger and Marvel’s The Avengers. Oh, and the NWSL might all get together in Utah and play a tournament or something, so that’s cool. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
