Instead, Hunter ignored his congressional subpoena and scheduled a press conference on Capitol Hill. Hunter accused the "MAGA Right" of impugning his character for the last six years. Hunter also swore his father was "not financially involved" in his business dealings. The Supreme Court has announced its intention to review arguments in an appeal case involving three defendants facing charges of obstruction of an official proceeding in connection with January 6, 2021. This case holds significant implications, as a Supreme Court ruling could potentially reverse charges for numerous individuals, including 2024 GOP front-runner former President Donald Trump. Monarch High School in Florida was fined and placed on probation for breaching state law by allowing a male student to participate in girls' volleyball during the 2022-2023 and 2023-2024 seasons, according to the Florida High School Athletic Association. The school also violated F.S. 1006.205(3)(c), which says that "athletic teams or sports designated for females, women, or girls may not be open to students of the male sex." The mayor of Boston's office sent a shocking email to city council members, inviting them to an "Electeds of Color" holiday party. We just started a brand new series! 'The Church God Sees' is PEOPLE - that changes how we think about church. The "Church" is what is lived out in our lives every day. Today we are going to talk about a value that we should embody - Found People Find People! Message Notes: Mark 2:17 And when Jesus heard it, he said to them, "Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. I came not to call the righteous, but sinners." WHEN John 1:43 The next day Jesus decided to go to Galilee. He found Philip and said to him, "Follow me” Romans 3:10-12 As it is written: “There is no one righteous, not even one; there is no one who understands, no one who seeks God. We all need a lesson in patience! What is patience - and how do we get it? MESSAGE NOTES: James 5:7 NIV Be patient, then, brothers and sisters, until the Lord’s coming. PATIENCE: to be of a long of spirit; to not lose heart. Hebrews 6:12 “We do not want you to become lazy, but to imitate those who through faith and patience inherit what has been promised.” James 5:7-9 See how the farmer waits for the land to yield its valuable crop, patiently waiting for the autumn and spring rains. You too, be patient and stand firm, because the Lord’s coming is near. Don’t grumble against one another, brothers and sisters, or you will be judged. The Judge is standing at the door! The Farmer’s Lesson: Patience is WAITING. James 5:7 See how the farmer waits for the land to yield its valuable crop, patiently waiting for the autumn and spring rains. The farmer is not wondering IF, but waiting for WHEN. James 5:8 You too, be patient and stand firm, because the Lord’s coming is near. Patience isn’t INACTIVITY; it’s focusing on the RIGHT ACTIVITY. James 5:9 Don’t grumble against one another, brothers and sisters, or you will be judged. The Judge is standing at the door! When you don’t focus on the right thing, You blame people for everything. When you don’t focus on the RIGHT thing, You BLAME people for everything. Genesis 50:20 NLT You intended to harm me, but God intended it all for good. He brought me to this position so I could save the lives of many people. James 5:10 Brothers and sisters, as an example of patience in the face of suffering, take the prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord. The Prophet’s Lesson: Patience feels like SUFFERING. 1 Kings 17:1 Now Elijah the Tishbite, from Tishbe in Gilead, said to Ahab, “As the Lord, the God of Israel, lives, whom I serve, there will be neither dew nor rain in the next few years except at my word.” If you are not ready to suffer FOR God, then you are not ready to be used BY God. James 5:11a As you know, we count as blessed those who have persevered. You have heard of Job’s perseverance and have seen what the Lord finally brought about. Job 42:10,12 NLT When Job prayed for his friends, the Lord restored his fortunes. In fact, the Lord gave him twice as much as before! So the Lord blessed Job in the second half of his life even more than in the beginning. Job’s Lesson: Patience brings about GOD’S BLESSING. How do you have a God Centered Life? In what ways are you pleasuring seeking instead of God seeking? We need to learn what motives are selfish, and what is true humility! MESSAGE NOTES: James 4:1-5 NLT What is causing the quarrels and fights among you? Don’t they come from the evil desires at war within you? You want what you don’t have, so you scheme and kill to get it. You are jealous of what others have, but you can’t get it, so you fight and wage war to take it away from them. Yet you don’t have what you want because you don’t ask God for it. And even when you ask, you don’t get it because your motives are all wrong—you want only what will give you pleasure. You adulterers! Don’t you realize that friendship with the world makes you an enemy of God? I say it again: If you want to be a friend of the world, you make yourself an enemy of God. How do you rid yourself of chaos? Check out the choices that you are making. Those choices you are making are determining the direction of your life! It's not just experience that makes you wise. Wisdom is a combination of information and experienced APPLIED PROPERLY. James 3:13 “Who is wise and understanding among you?...” - Chaos happens when we become COMPLACENT - James 3:13 “Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show it by his good life, by deeds done in the humility that comes from wisdom.” Proverbs 24:30-31 “I went past the field of the sluggard, past the vineyard of the man who lacks judgment; thorns had come up everywhere, the ground was covered with weeds, and the stone wall was in ruins.” - Chaos happens when our EMOTIONS get out of CONTROL - James 3:14 “But if you harbor bitter envy and selfish ambition in your hearts, do not boast about it or deny the truth.” Proverbs 4:20-23 “My son, pay attention to what I say; listen closely to my words. Do not let them out of your sight, keep them within your heart; for they are life to those who find them and health to a man's whole body. Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life.” - Chaos happens when we LEAVE GOD OUT - James 3:15-16 “Such ‘wisdom’ does not come down from heaven but is earthly, unspiritual, of the devil.
