We get into taking the head coaching job at the age of 27 and what that meant to him. We talk about Coach Stevens from Powell High School and the influence that he along with his dad and Clark Duncan had on Matt as a player and a coach. We finish up with talking about last year's state championship and how coming up short in 2011 fueled him as a coach and he learned from that experience. My name is Matt Medlin has been in Physical Education teacher in Walton County since 2004. He am currently at Youth Elementary School in Loganville, Ga. About Matt: He is married to his beautiful wife, Jenny Medlin. They been married since 2009 and she is currently a teacher's assistant at the University of Georgia. His parents are both retired teachers from Dekalb County and his twin brother, Jason, is also a teacher in Augusta. Teaching might be in the blood for them! He was a graduate of Loganville High School class of '99, GC&SU in '04, and then went on to earn his Master's Degree at Walden University and his Specialist Degree at Lincoln Memorial. The Early Birds Club: In 2008 he started an early morning PE club for the older students in the school. What he had envisioned since he was in the 5th grade, now finally became reality. He began the club with 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders...maxing out around 75 students on a good morning. Five years later, the club is strictly 4th and 5th grade...they meet two different days....and he has over 175 club members strong. The students get to experience wacky, crazy games each meeting.
