The Gosford Glyphs (also referred to as the Kariong Hieroglyphs), are a set of around 300 rock carvings that are associated with many conflicting and intriguing stories of origin. Situated within Brisbane Waters National Park, on the New South Wales Central Coast, Australia. They are nestled deep within this intriguing landscape, heavily populated with many Indigenous sacred sites, such as The Grandmother Tree, significant landmarks and rock carvings. The Hieroglyphs have caught the attention of many locals - and international people alike. Having never visited this site before, Shannon and Laura thought it was time to put on their walking shoes, play dodge the mozzie (and snake), and get exploring! This episode explores theories that both support and debunk the purported authenticity of the hieroglyphs, and of course Shannon and Laura each weigh in and offer their own thoughts. Interview by Kris PetersHailing from the quiet town of Taree on the New South Wales Central Coast, emerging metal outfit Diamond Construct are anything but.Brash, loud, and in your face with no respite, Diamond Construct are a hurricane of musical intensity that is only just starting to gather real force.Since dropping their self-titled debut album around the turn of the decade, Diamond Construct have been working tirelessly on the live circuit, landing shows with Alpha Wolf, Justice For The Damned, Stray From The Path and Bury Tomorrow, with recent times seeing them perform at CVLTFEST plus hit the road with two of the Japanese bands on the bill, Crossfaith and Paledusk.Last year saw Diamond Construct sign with prestigious US label Pale Chord, subsequently releasing three killer singles, Hell Inside You, Switchblade OST and Jynx. All three are taken from the band's new album Angel Killer Zero, which will be unleashed on April 26.HEAVY caught up with Diamond Construct frontman Kynan Groundwater to find out more. We ask him if those trio of singles are a good sonic representation of what to expect from the whole album."I think it's a pretty big picture, but it's not the full picture," he measured. "There's so much more to dive in on in the album. When writing such a big piece and body of work like Angel Killer Zero and having that diverse sound that we've had over the years, it was hard to fit everything into just 11 songs. If anyone thinks that they've heard it all from those three, they've got another thing coming. Because there's so much on that album. There's a song for everyone."We ask him to further explain Angel Killer Zero from a musical perspective."It's not a concept album, but it's definitely got themes and concepts about it that tell a bit of a story," he replied. "So, obviously from start to finish it runs smoothly together with some of the interludes, and it's got some exerts from video games and stuff that I love to play. I love the anime stuff. We've got the robotics voice introducing some of the themes about the album, so that's something that came into it earlier in the piece. Musically, it's just a big expansion of DCX2. We went back and revisited the sound of what made us popular in the first place with Psychosis and Enigma, and then we blended that with the heavier sounds from the self-titled, which we know a lot of people like as well. It was just a big meshing of that, as well as adding in so many more elements that we haven't explored yet."In the full interview, Kynan talks more about what to expect from Angel Killer Zero, how it differs to their self-titled debut album, the anime connection and how it translates to the album, the themes explored on the album, signing with Pale Chord, their upcoming regional tour and what to expect and more.

What do we do when we don't feel well and mainstream western medicine can't seem to help us. Maybe it's an irritable bowel, headaches that come too frequently, chronic fatigue or joint pain that just won't go away. Maybe it's more serious - a life-threatening diagnosis of cancer, or a neurological condition like parkinsons, and we are told by doctors that there's no cure or they have limited treatment options. In all these cases, how should we assess complementary medicine? The alternative medicine market is a massive and growing industry increasingly framing health as ‘wellness' which aims to help us live a life of flourishing rather than just an absence of illness. Is there a point, though, when the therapies shift from helpful to hoax? In this episode with our guests Dr Norman Swan and Dr Penny Caldicott we explore what's reasonable to do if we feel sick, but our doctor doesn't seem to be able to help.Dr Norman SwanNorman is a multi-award winning broadcaster, journalist and commentator. He is the host and creator of the Health Report, on ABC Radio National, which is the longest running health programme in the English-speaking world. Norman consulted for the World Health Organisation on global priorities in health research, putting evidence into health policy and clinical trial registration. He co-facilitated, with Richard Horton (editor in chief of The Lancet) a global ministerial forum in Bamako, West Africa which aimed to advance the global health agenda. In his latest book “So You Want To Live Longer, Younger” Norman scrutinises the science and the fads to offer up a guide to living a longer, healthier life.Dr Penny CaldicottPenny is president of the Australasian Integrative Medicine Association. She's also the founder and director of Invitation to Health, a holistic, patient-centred medical service on the New South Wales Central Coast. Since graduating from medical school more than two decades ago, Penny's passion for understanding the journey that contributes to a patient's disease has led her to practice what's called integrative medicine. In this practice, complementary therapists like naturopaths and nutritionists work together with gp's in an environment designed to apply the best of evidence-based conventional medicine and complementary therapies..Penny believes that this kind of collaborative approach to the prevention of disease can play a significant role in turning back chronic disease in Australia. She's a strong advocate within the medical establishment and to governments for a pre-emptive model of health care, one that aspires to both prevent chronic disease and to accompany patients back towards well being.~~ You can be part of the discussion @PofCharity on Twitter, @PrincipleofCharity on Facebook and @PrincipleofCharityPodcast on Instagram. Luke Grant speaks to Member for Robertson Lucy Wicks about accusations Labor is running a mediscare-style campaign targeting elderly residents. The party is being accused of sending letters to elderly voters on the New South Wales Central Coast, claiming the Morrison Government will force age pensioners on a Cashless Debit Card. The Government has explicitly said it has no such plans. The letter reads: “There are thousands of pensioners across the Coast at risk of being forced on to the Cashless Debit Card. This is a heartless plan by the Morrison Government to limit and control how you spend your money.” Lucy Wicks says many older constituents have contacted her in distress over the scare campaign. I love Dawn’s story! Did you know that you could even be a professional crafter?! I didn’t. And, actually, neither did Dawn. She started out her career in the corporate world and ended up leaving when she had her second child. She had every intention of going back to work when her children were in school. But because her daughters had special needs, Dawn needed to stay at home much longer. When her daughters were grown, Dawn was looking for something to occupy her time and decided to teach crafting at her local community center. Given her love of crafting, this hobby was a great way to earn a bit of extra money while doing something she loved. However, through networking, volunteering, and a lot of hard work, Dawn turned that hobby into a full-time career. Dawn is now a professional crafter, vlogger and podcaster based on the New South Wales Central Coast of Australia. She has worked in the Australian craft industry for well over a decade, creating projects for craft magazines and brands across a variety of craft mediums. She has hosted an Australian papercrafting television show, spoken at The Artful Business Conference about how video is a valuable tool for enhancing the customer experience. She has an online store selling craft supplies, teaches in collaboration with other businesses locally, and just launched The Craft Room Podcast. Find out exactly how she made that jump on the episode today! Here is what we chat about in this episode: Why she left the corporate world to stay at home with her children Why her plan to go back to the corporate world didn’t really work out How she got involved in the craft community How she went from just a hobbyist to a professional crafter How networking really helped her career take off And so much more!
