Join Drs. Edwin and Evan as they stumble—sometimes literally—down the haunted trails of some of America's most famous (and terrifying) national parks.Get ready to hear the spine-chilling tale of the Ape Wolf of Yosemite, along with some even creepier creatures that look suspiciously like pants running amok in the park. (Seriously, we can't explain it either.) You'll alsofeel the sorrow of the headless bride haunting Old Faithful Inn, or take a trip to Mammoth Cave to listen to the lonely wails of Floyd Collins—who, by the way, starved to death after being trapped for over two weeks. (Moral of the story: caves are bad.)Plus, discover why Dr. Evan refuses to go outside unless it's for an unhealthy amount of Cherry Coke Zero, and why she's sworn off places where humans really shouldn't be—like caves, the deep ocean, or… well, anywhere you can't see the sky.Welcome, Spooky Friends, to another episode ofPhDParanormal—where we bring you the thrills, chills, and a few giggles along the way.

This Halloween, celebrate with the thrilling finale of our Haunted America series as Host Lyle Perez takes listeners on a ghostly tour through Wyoming, known for its rugged beauty, Old West history, and chilling haunted sites. From historic hotels with tragic pasts to abandoned prisons and eerie saloons, Wyoming is alive with spirits and supernatural encounters. Join us for one last ride into the haunted history of the Cowboy State. Featured Locations: The Occidental Hotel, Buffalo 10 N Main St, Buffalo, WY 82834 The Occidental Hotel, a gem of the Old West dating back to 1880, hosted figures like Buffalo Bill and Butch Cassidy. But it's not just famous names that linger here; the ghost of a young girl clutching a doll is often seen on the grand staircase. Guests report hearing cowboy boots echoing down the halls and old-time saloon music drifting through the empty bar. A cowboy's apparition is known to tip his hat to visitors before disappearing. Staying here is like stepping into a time capsule of the Wild West—one where some guests never left. The Historic Plains Hotel, Cheyenne 1600 Central Ave, Cheyenne, WY 82001 The Plains Hotel in Cheyenne, operating since 1911, is haunted by Rosie, a distraught bride whose sorrowful ghost still roams the halls. Guests frequently feel chills, hear sobbing, and see unexplained reflections in mirrors. Room 510 is especially active, with lights flickering and Rosie's ghost spotted at the window, seemingly waiting for someone who never arrived. Fort Laramie National Historic Site, Fort Laramie 965 Gray Rocks Rd, Fort Laramie, WY 82212 Dating back to 1834, Fort Laramie was a key military outpost during the westward expansion. Today, it's haunted by spirits of soldiers, including Lieutenant Levi Robinson, who died tragically near the fort. Visitors report ghostly soldiers marching on the parade grounds, eerie bugle calls, and a chilly atmosphere, especially around the old barracks. Fort Laramie offers a haunting glimpse into the sacrifices of the frontier era. The Cody Theatre, Cody 1171 Sheridan Ave, Cody, WY 82414 The Cody Theatre, built in 1936, is known for ghostly patrons. One spirit, a man in a long coat and hat, watches from the back, while a former usher named “Johnny” is said to roam the aisles. Staff report footsteps, laughter, and Buffalo Bill's apparition occasionally appearing to keep an eye on his town's theater. Wyoming Frontier Prison, Rawlins 500 W Walnut St, Rawlins, WY 82301 The Wyoming Frontier Prison housed dangerous criminals from 1901 to 1981, and its dark energy is palpable. Inmates reportedly still haunt areas like “The Hole,” where they endured extreme isolation. Visitors report hearing voices, seeing shadows, and feeling an oppressive sense of dread throughout the cell blocks. The prison now offers ghost tours, letting guests experience its haunted past firsthand. The Irma Hotel, Cody 1192 Sheridan Ave, Cody, WY 82414 Built by Buffalo Bill in 1902, the Irma Hotel hosts several spirits, including Buffalo Bill himself. Guests often smell cigar smoke and feel sudden chills near the Cherrywood Bar, a gift from Queen Victoria. The ghost of a young woman named Emily has also been spotted in a white gown, wandering the halls. Staying here offers a unique connection to Cody's haunted history. Sweetwater County Library, Green River 300 N 1st E St, Green River, WY 82935 Built over an old cemetery, the Sweetwater County Library is known for paranormal activity. “Charlie,” a ghostly presence, frequently rearranges books, flickers lights, and creates cold spots. Patrons report shadowy figures in the aisles, whispers, and the unsettling sensation of being watched, making this library a top stop for ghost hunters. The Virginian Hotel, Medicine Bow 404 Lincoln Hwy, Medicine Bow, WY 82329 This luxury hotel from 1911 is haunted by Emily, a spirit seen wandering the third floor and heard softly singing. Guests report strange footsteps at night, doors slamming, and glimpses of her reflection in mirrors. The Virginian Hotel offers a haunted yet elegant experience for overnight guests. Old Faithful Inn, Yellowstone National Park 3200 Old Faithful Inn Rd, Yellowstone National Park, WY 82190 The historic Old Faithful Inn is home to the ghost of a bride who ended her life on her wedding night. Guests often hear her weeping and see her figure on the upper floors. Shadows move mysteriously in the hallways, and cold spots are common in areas associated with her story. The inn, with its rustic charm, adds an extra thrill to any Yellowstone visit. The Virginian Saloon, Jackson 750 W Broadway, Jackson, WY 83001 The Virginian Saloon is famous for The Cowboy, a ghostly figure seen near the bar, believed to be a drifter from the town's early days. Patrons and staff report flickering lights, footsteps, and mysteriously sliding glasses. This saloon's vintage decor and dim lighting set the perfect stage for ghostly encounters. And if you've already got one of the Chase Sapphire cards, you'll want to apply for these business cards, linked here. All other best cards (including the Capital One Venture and Venture X cards which you can use to erase travel expenses) are linked here!In this episode - Not all trips go as planned. In fact, some of them never even make it off the drawing room floor (so to speak). In this episode we're sharing our thought process as we attempted to plan a family trip to Yellowstone, but (spoiler alert) realized halfway through we had to pivot and save Yellowstone for another time. We get a lot of questions about how we plan our trips, and today, we're sharing our planning process for our upcoming family trip to Yellowstone. First, we discuss the decision between driving and flying to Yellowstone. From Phoenix, driving takes about 15 hours, which can be broken up with an overnight stay in Zion National Park. Flying, on the other hand, offers the convenience of using points, but with no direct flights from Phoenix to Bozeman or Jackson, connections are necessary. We explore options like Southwest, United, and Delta, and share our experience applying for a United business card to cover the flight costs.Next, we dive into lodging options within Yellowstone. Staying inside the park can save you the hassle of daily long drives, but accommodations like Mammoth Springs and the Old Faithful Inn fill up fast. We explain how to secure your reservations, including booking a year in advance and monitoring for cancellations. Our Yellowstone travel itinerary also covers the challenges of using points for accommodations. We talk about balancing the use of points and cash, considering properties in West Yellowstone and Jackson. While finding points-eligible hotels like the Holiday Inn in West Yellowstone and various Hilton and Marriott options in Jackson, we also emphasize the importance of having the right credit cards to earn those valuable points. As we finalize our plans, we realize the need for flexibility. With two major international trips already planned for next year, we decide to shift our Yellowstone trip to 2026. This allows us ample time to open new credit cards, meet minimum spends, and earn the points needed for a more cost-effective vacation. Plus, we'll have the Southwest Companion Pass again by then, making flights even more affordable. In the meantime, we pivot to an alternative plan: a road trip to Yosemite National Park and Lake Tahoe. This trip provides a mix of stunning natural beauty and relaxation by the lake, breaking up the summer heat with a memorable adventure.Throughout this episode, we highlight the importance of early planning, being flexible with travel dates, and using points strategically. Whether you're looking to escape to Yellowstone or considering other family-friendly destinations, our insights and detailed Yellowstone travel itinerary will help you plan a trip that's both fun and budget-friendly.Tune in to learn how to navigate the challenges of planning a family trip to Yellowstone, from securing flights and accommodations to maximizing your points and miles. Happy Spooky Wednesday folks! We're hitting two different categories of the paranormal this week with a tale of an alien abduction and an old, haunted inn. First, Kala discusses the Travis Walton Incident. In the 70s, Walton went missing, and when he returned he said he had been taken by beings in a UFO. While he's been able to make a lifelong career out of his story, we are not so easily convinced, and it sounds like many others aren't as well. And Brittany tells us all about the Old Faithful Inn at Yellowstone National Park. There are multiple ghosts present in this still-operating Inn, but the most famous is a headless bride who met her fate in one of the rooms. It's rumored that her story may have been fabricated in the 80s, but even if that's the case, how do we explain away the other apparitions who haunt the halls?

As a former park ranger, the Wilderness Lodge at Walt Disney World was the perfect place to stay. Based on Yellowstone's Old Faithful Inn, Wilderness Lodge looks, feels, and smells like a historic National Park lodge. Many cast members are even in custom resembling park rangers complete with the iconic flat hat. During my stay at Wilderness Lodge, I learned a few things, as I do anytime I spend time at Disney. Dan Cockerell, retired Vice President of the Magic Kingdom, spent two years as the Wilderness Lodge General Manager. Dan joins me on this episode of the Jody Maberry Show to give his perspective on what I learned at the Lodge. Create a memorable first impression. When you walk into the Wilderness Lodge, you know you are someplace special. If you are going to copy, add your own personality. Wilderness Lodge has the feel of a National Park lodge but is full of unique touches of Disney. It taught me to be inspired by something but always add my own touch to it. You are as happy as you decide to be. Even at the happiest place on earth, you won't be happy unless you decide to be. Make it easy for people to do business with you. Magic Bands are a good example of making it easy for a customer to do business with you. Magic Bands make the experience better but also make it easier to spend money. Solve the problems you know guests will have. When we checked into our room, there was sun relief gel waiting for us with our soap and shampoo. Sure enough, we got sunburns and used the sun relief gel. Disney anticipated we would have a problem and provided a solution before knowing we would need it. You can find out more about Dan Cockerell at www.dancockerell.com. You may want to listen to the audio version of Dan's book, How's the Culture in Your Kingdom. I narrate the book, so if you enjoy this podcast, you will enjoy the book. You can find it here.

Harry and Adelaide Child founded a Yellowstone National Park dynasty that lasted more than sixty years. Harry managed the park’s transportation and hotel companies from 1901 until his death in 1931, when his daughter and son-in-law succeeded him. Adelaide oversaw the furnishing of new hotels, including Old Faithful Inn and the Canyon Hotel. Longtime Old Faithful Inn tour guide and author Ruth Quinn delves into the Childs’ personal lives and their enduring impact on the park, and on Montana.
