Jeff Copeland talks with Emmy Winner Charlotte Robinson host of OUTTAKE VOICES™ about his new book “Love You Madly, Holly Woodlawn” published by Feral House. The memoir depicts how an unlikely friendship evolved between a young gay writer and Holly Woodlawn one of Andy Warhol's superstars from the films “Trash” and “Women in Revolt” as well as being Lou Reed's Holly in the hit glam rock song "Walk on the Wild Side". The book is based on the lengthy collaboration between Jeff and Holly as they created the bestselling 1991 autobiography “A Low Life in High Heels: The Holly Woodlawn Story”. For the trash mondo fans this must-read book is a pure delight and a refreshing escape from current affairs. Holly is the embodiment of Auntie Mame and Bette Davis fueled by chardonnay introducing Jeff to the glamorous and sometimes larcenous world of a Warhol Superstar. In turn Jeff uses his writing and typing talent to give Holly the second chance at the fame she craves. This wild read that you just can't put down takes you on a ride through Hollywood in the late 1980's through the 90's. Many of the named people in this literary extravaganza are real and some are famous so you'll probably recognize those but other names have been changed to protect the innocent and not so innocent's privacy. The layout and design by Ron Kretsch illustrating Copeland's journey also adds a timeless dimension with fabulous Hollywood montages and rare photos. We talked to Jeff about his inspiration for writing “Love You Madly, Holly Woodlawn” and his spin on moving forward in the current political climate. Jeff Copeland served as a writer/producer for almost thirty years in Hollywood for a variety of TV networks and film studios including Discovery, Animal Planet, HGTV, ABC, FOX and Sony Pictures Home Entertainment. Copeland also spent two years working with Garry Shandling which led to a corporate position with Sony Pictures Television. Jeff additionally devoted years developing scripts to be made into feature films. Currently he's turning some of those scripts into literary applications. The Wynchester series ends as it began, in a crazy-whimsical version of England and featuring the detective skills of a band of wealthy and socially marginalized do-gooders.

The Strix decide to recruit Marcel with a good old fashioned masquerade ball (ok Dangerous Liaisons!) and a good old fashioned riddle (ok…). Everybody comes out for the ball - Hayley in a slay gown, Freya in a pink wig, Klaus in a drunken performance, and so on. Alexis is kidnapped, and gets to basically hang out until Aurora (newly in NOLA) kills her. It's sort of a Halloween episode, but only vaguely. We have fun!Remember to rate, review, and share, brothers!Follow us on Instagram and TikTok @doppelgangerspodcast!

Fear is essential! Try out to go beyond your imaginations, rules, moralities and try out something entirely new.Jimmy Rogers, the legendary hedge fund manager has done this again and again… Still, he was the most successful hedge fund manager… Maybe that is why!We have imprisoned ourselves by our assumption, moralities… and can't get what we want… Even we don't know what we want… Life is too short to wait for that magic moment that everything will change in our favor…But what is in our favor? To get rich and successful and to function like a clock or better like the Movie “Clockwork Orange” (Stanley Kubrick) One of the greatest movies! In this movie, they press the people to fit in the society for every price! But we don't need that, we have done it already by ourselves and locked ourselves in a prison and threw away the key…But where is the key… In a madhouse? I read now the roman “Veronika decides to die!” By the famous author Paulo CoelhoVeronika has only a few days to live after her suicide attempt … and she is in a madhouse… She discovers her genius talent as a pianist…She goes beyond her sexual imaginations …She tries out again and again what she never has tried out before…And then she started to enjoy her life!!!!We stop our thinking on the border of our morality…Morality doesn't understand life... because it is a shortcut to rationalize…What is beyond our self-imposed rules? I got as an Atheist from Bhagwan the spiritual name Ghanshyam. The Meaning is: “This is a name for God and to be unconditionally is an answer of God.”So what, I experienced as an Atheist through a deep love with my darling God. We both applied the wild sexual Tantra and through that our heart opened to God…For sure, making love in the right way is the path to God… (Read, “The conference of the birds” by the greatest Sufi Atar) Where is love there is God!I was abused for my wrong writing by my parents as dyslexia and stutterer … I could/can not learn German grammar… And I could not be creative…Nearly all of my German girlfriend hindered me to speak out what I was thinking. When I forced them to stop their bad behavior and separated I became a creative writer and my stuttering stopped !!! Don't let other people stop you, just leave them alone;- I do always so!!!I was abused by my father (he was a great musician) for my inability to make music… Guess, I learned to make music on the Sitar, Keyboard, Tabla and singing! I suffered from incurable diseases and no doctor could heal them, even our so “great doctors” killed me (clinical dead) two times … Today I am totally healthy because I cured my diseases by myself self and I don't trust doctors!A Sufi can keep every rule and break every rule…Because every rule is a veil in front of God … We should go beyond our rules to discover God.When a Phoenix dies he burns himself and a new Phoenix is born. The old Phoenix has to die… until we burn our old ego with all of these rules, assumptions nothing new can happen to us!So you don't need to make suicide to discover what is beyond your imagination…Life can be amazing so why not try out something entirely new? In this loose and laugh-filled Proper True Yarn episode, Knuckles fires quick questions at Dave from Our Cow, uncovering everything from his grooming habits to his dream of eating a cassowary. The lads swap wild party stories, trade blows in talk about old pub fights, and joke about unusual animals they'd love to taste – including pelicans. Dave opens up about meeting his wife in the mines, family dust-ups, and why he still backs himself in a fight against his old man. It's a chaotic mix of banter, business respect, and the kind of yarns you only hear when the guard's down.#propertrueyarn Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Hey everyone and welcome back to Walkin' on the Wild Side! We finish up our three part series on the local legends of South Carolina with one of Gabrielle's favorite legends of the Lowcountry, the Gray Man. This legend is a prognosticator of hurricanes and landfall, often protecting the person and property he reveals himself to. The legend started in the 1800's in Pawley's Island, SC and has persisted to this day. There are different versions, but all have a similar outcome. A person sees a gray man in an overcoat and hat, he warns them to flee the impending storm, and their homes are spared, even when everything around them is devastated. Join Gabrielle and I in Pawley's Island, close to where the legend was born, and then join us for dinner as we talk to a local young man, Chandler, who happened to be our waiter at the amazing Rustic Table restaurant. We hope you enjoy this episode and here's a few websites to learn more about this legend of the Lowcountry:https://wkml.com/2024/08/21/the-mysterious-legend-of-the-gray-man-ghost-in-south-carolina/https://pawleysvacationrentals.com/the-grey-man/https://southcarolinaparks.com/huntington-beachhttps://hammockshops.com/Awesome restaurant featuring our waiter, Chandler!https://www.rustictable.com/Interested in having Marvin and Gabrielle speak at your event? This time, we're up in Union County, where a local legend is well known by folks in the area, but maybe not known outside of this area of South Carolina. Goshen Hill Plantation was the site of a settlement where a man was wrongfully hanged for a murder he didn't commit, and both he and his faithful dog were executed in a wrongful rush to judgment. Scary stories of a white dog with a hideous grin that haunts this area of Union county have been told for years and a simple drive along Old Buncombe Road can really get your imagination going! It's time for another episode of Walkin' on the Wild Side and while we were out on a road trip, Gabrielle had a wonderful idea to do a three part series of "Local Legends of South Carolina"! Our first part takes us east of Columbia near Camden. While out on a road trip that included Buc-ee's and Swan Lake in Sumter, I wanted to share the location of our first local legend in the Scape Ore Swamp of Bishopville. In Episode 575 of the podcast, we sit down with Drew Rose, best known as the singer from the cult-favorite ‘90s hard rock band Wildside. While fans of glam, sleaze, and Sunset Strip may remember Drew for singing in Wildside's MTV-era heyday, these days he's earning a different kind of spotlight on YouTube. Drew has been the man behind The 80's Metal Recycle Bin—a fun, raw, and passionate channel dedicated to deep-cut interviews, forgotten stories, and rock ‘n' roll honesty. But now, he's switching gears with a brand-new name and vibe: Get On The Bus.Why the rebrand? Drew reveals it was a mix of wanting to expand beyond just “recycled” memories and leaning into the freedom of a new name. Get On The Bus captures not only the interviews with rock royalty and road dogs but the actual ride—sometimes literally. Viewers get a first-hand feel of what it's like being on tour, backstage, or even just jamming in a parking lot.A big shout out in the evolution of Drew's channel goes to none other than Stevie Rachelle—frontman of the glam rock band Tuff and founder of the site Metal Sludge. Stevie encouraged Drew to step into the video format, but supported the original idea of preserving and celebrating the rock scene's lesser-told stories.Drew's background in both music and film production gives him a unique edge. He's been there in the trenches of the LA rock world and knows how to make a story come alive on screen. As Get On The Bus revs up, fans can expect better production, deeper access, and plenty of unscripted content. From forgotten band tales to candid tour bus confessions, the channel is growing into something that blends nostalgia, music journalism, and vlogging into one rocking ride.https://getonthebus.com/https://www.youtube.com/@getonthebustv

We're back for part two of our Discover series on the less travelled, but adventure-rich state of South Australia. Our Discover Guides are deep dives into new destinations, where we interview experts to get the ‘drum' on the places they live and love. This series is produced as a road trip through a lesser-known part of Australia filled with natural wonders, wildlife and more than one hilarious Aussie character. And don't miss our sweet promo offering from Down Under Endeavors: $500 off your trip for Armchair Explorer listeners. Go to: downunderendeavours.com/armchair Pop in code ARMCHAIR25 to score a discount on your Australian adventure Down Under. We'll start in Boston Bay with 'Lunch,' a former grain-farmer and sheep shearer that now herds visitors. He'll fill us in on the fish, non-fish, fishy food and fish-eating non-food fish of the seafood frontier. I'll also (possibly) earn a nickname as cool as 'Lunch,' (tune in and find out). Then we're heading back up the coastline towards Adelaide and wine country with possibly the most well-traveled sommelier on the planet: he's solo hiked the Himalayas, led night dives in the Caribbean, armies of scouts in the bush and expeditions in the jungle. And on top of all that, he knows his swirls from his sips and his grenache from his grapes. He's Matthew Kurko, and he's not too proud to enjoy a porch pounder. Finally we're sharing our first 'Dream Sleep' segment, where we explore stays that aren't just a place to spend the night, but an experience all their own. The Frames is built right against the Murray River, which forms on the edge of the Australian Alps and travels 1500 miles to the Limestone Coast. As owners Cathy and Rick Edmonds say, you'll meet the real Australia here, in conversation with locals, drifting the river on a flavor safari, or diving right into the Outback itself. So fair dinkum, no worries mate it's time to hit the frog and toad! Thank you to Down Under Endeavours for partnering with us on this episode. They are the South Australia experts and helped us build this itinerary and connect with the experts featured in the episode. They're offering an exclusive deal to Armchair Explorer listeners: $500 off your adventure. In the frontier town of Thickleg, WY, the humble farmers and ranchers rely on Seamus Greenhorn for medical assistance. The only thing is, “Doctor” Greenhorn has no idea what he's doing, he's just winging it when he mixes together the various strong medicines in his shop, frequently testing them on himself first. When a drunken accident causes him to injure his head, Seamus downs a potent concoction to ease his headache and discovers two things: he's tripping balls and he can talk to animals. As this quack doctor continues to self medicate his way across the open range, he uses his new (and maybe imagined) powers to heal (and cause) a war between man and beast.Scripts start at 45:15StarringHobert ThompsonLaura PetroAnd Jordan Wilson as Mr. Horse
