Ary Rochon is a huge part of the Florida Ultrarunning Community, a FUR. He is coming off a big win at the Lake to Ocean 100K that takes place in late May from Lake Okeechobee to Hobe Sound Beach along the Lake to Ocean Trail. This is one of the most iconic races in Florida because of the variation of habitats, the challenging terrain which sometimes consists of significant amounts of water, and of course south Florida heat and humidity in early June. But it doesn't end there. Ary's ultrasignup is chock full of awesome accomplishments and pretty impressive volume for someone so new to the sport. He is an excellent steward of the trails and the sport, a great storyteller and a fun, interesting guy. Leonard Evers praat met conservator Janneke van Asperen over de tentoonstelling Thuis bij Jan Steen – 400 jaar leven in de brouwerij, nu te zien in Museum de Lakenhal in Leiden. Met Thuis bij Jan Steen – 400 jaar leven in de brouwerij legt Museum De Lakenhal de focus op Steens persoonlijke omgeving en de rol van zijn geboortestad Leiden. De tentoonstelling biedt een verrassende blik op het dagelijks leven uit de 17de eeuw en de humor en menselijkheid die zijn schilderijen zo geliefd maken. Thuis bij Jan Steen combineert bekende favorieten uit de eigen collectie met topstukken uit Nederlandse museale en particuliere collecties. Hieronder zijn publiekslievelingen uit bijvoorbeeld de Eregalerij van het Rijksmuseum, maar ook werken uit collecties die vrijwel nooit te zien zijn voor publiek. De kinderen van Jan Steen In het werk van Jan Steen spelen kinderen een opvallende rol. Als geen ander wist hij de onbevangenheid, de vreugde en het verdriet van kinderen op een levensechte manier te verbeelden. Steen hoefde voor zijn kindertaferelen niet ver te zoeken: als vader van een groot gezin vond hij thuis volop inspiratie. Zijn eigen familie stond dan ook vaak model. Ook in de tentoonstelling worden kinderen actief betrokken. Basisschoolleerlingen uit Leiden schrijven speciaal voor de expositie korte teksten, die op kinderhoogte bij de schilderijen te lezen zullen zijn. Leidse vrienden en fijnschilders Naast schilder van vrolijke gezinstaferelen was Jan Steen ook technisch een zeer getalenteerd kunstenaar. Hij kon zowel met een losse toets als zeer verfijnd schilderen. Voor dat laatste putte hij inspiratie uit het werk van de Leidse fijnschilders, waaronder zijn vrienden Frans van Mieris en Ary de Vois. Thuis bij Jan Steen toont, naast Steens eigen topstukken, ook werk van deze bekende Leidse tijdgenoten. Ook komen Steens historiestukken met verbeeldingen van Bijbelse en mythologische verhalen aan bod. Deze schilderijen laten een meer serieuze kant van Steens kunstenaarschap zien. Toch toont Steen zich ook hier van zijn satirische kant. De humoristische knipoog blijft altijd zijn handelsmerk.

Em julho de 2012, Milton Neves deu voz a uma versão do tradicional Cantinho da Saudade, criado por Fiori Gigliotti. O texto foi escrito por mim, a partir de matérias publicadas em A Gazeta da Zona Norte, com o intuito de homenagear a trajetória repleta de conquistas do jornalista Ary Silva. Quem foi Ary Silva?Em 21 de junho de 1917 nasce Ary Silva, um jornalista responsável por grandes feitos para a crônica e para o esporte brasileiros. Antes de ficar conhecido pelas tradicionais Crônicas à Torcida Amiga, Ary teve uma trajetória repleta de pioneirismos.Em 1936, na Faculdade de Direito do Largo São Francisco, toma conhecimento de que a Philips recruta vendedores de rádio. Tenta, mas não obtém êxito na empreitada. No entanto, por sugestão do gerente de vendas, Nelson de Lorenzi, atleta do salto de vara, busca a sorte como repórter esportivo. Diante do Prof. Roberto Haddock Lobo, então chefe de esportes do Diário de São Paulo, antigo órgão dos Diários Associados de Assis Chateaubriand, consegue a primeira oportunidade. Com apenas 19 anos, é efetivado como repórter esportivo, em 1º de outubro de 1936, com um salário de 200 mil réis, um bom montante, equivalente a mais de 70.000 reais nos dias de hoje.Dá novos saltos na crônica esportiva com conquistas importantes. Ainda em 36, participa da cobertura dos jogos olímpicos de Berlim e dos primeiros jogos abertos do interior. Em 37, entra na luta como fundador do Sindicato dos Jornalistas; Em 38, cobre a concentração da seleção brasileira de futebol para a copa do mundo da França. Em 39, a convite de Otávio Gabus Mendes, forma o Departamento de Esportes da Rádio Bandeirantes. É quando dá o pontapé inicial para a trajetória das coberturas da emissora com o Bola ao Ar.Na mesma época, inova ao criar o primeiro programa esportivo feminino do rádio brasileiro: Eva no Esporte. Ary escreve crônicas como se fosse uma mulher falando de esportes e conta com a leitura e interpretação das radioatrizes da emissora. Uma delas: Maria Estela Barros.Em 1941, funda a ACEESP – Associação dos Cronistas Esportivos do Estado de São Paulo. Fica na Bandeirantes até 1947. Em 51, torna-se o primeiro comentarista da TV Brasileira, ao lado de Aurélio Campos, na Tupi. Em 58, a convite de Paulo Machado de Carvalho, integra a comissão que elabora o plano para a conquista da nossa primeira copa do mundo, na Suécia. Tinha orgulho de ter participado da fundação do jornal A Gazeta da Zona Norte, em 63, onde manteve uma coluna com o slogan dos tempos da Rádio Bandeirantes: “Torcida Amiga, bom dia”, até abril de 2001, quando morre em São Paulo.

Ary took his first flight at the age of 13. That flight ignited a passion that took him through Embry Riddle University where he graduated with a degree in aerospace engineering. After graduation he worked with Cessna and Bombardier before landing his dream job with NASA. He currently works at the NASA Langley Research Center in Virginia where he lives with his wife and three year old son.
