In this Utah strain review, we sit down with Cap Junky from Dragonfly and do what we always do, slow it down, smell it, smoke it, question it, and talk honestly about how it actually feels.Cap Junky is a hybrid made from Alien Cookies and Kush Mints, and on paper it looks intense. High THC, loud genetics, and numbers that usually scare people off. What surprised us is how smooth and controlled the experience actually was.We talk about the dryness a lot of Utah flower picks up in winter, how packaging dates matter more than strain hype, and why climate plays a bigger role than most people realize. We also compare Dragonfly flower to Beehive's bud straight out of the bag and break down why “sticky” isn't the same thing as “good.”The high itself is mostly heady and light, not overpowering, no chest tightness, no racing heart, no panic. A big part of that comes down to terpenes like limonene and a noticeable amount of CBG, which helps mellow the ride and smooth out the edges of a higher THC strain. We also get into why THC percentage alone is a bad buying strategy, how terpene profiles tell you more about how a strain will feel, and why some high THC flower can feel calmer than lower percentage options. This episode is part strain review, part Utah cannabis reality check, and part reminder that intent matters more than numbers.Strain notesHybridHigh THC, smooth experienceHead-focused, light body feelNoticeable limonene and CBGCalm, controlled, and surprisingly chillIf you're in Utah and you've tried Cap Junky, or if you've had wildly different experiences with the same strain depending on brand or batch, let us know. These conversations matter more than marketing labels.Keep the Mic on.Fuel the movement. Ryan Bridge: The Taranaki LNG terminal is a good idea, depending on who you ask

Early Edition with Kate Hawkesby

This Government's running into similar problems Jacinda's one did on energy - they're getting too much 'official' advice and reports. The problem when you ask 'the experts' for advice on every thought that pops into your head, is that they tend to agree with it. And if they don't, you tend to ignore them. And what does that tell you about the need for the advice in the first place? Latest case in point is the LNG terminal in Taranaki. A billion bucks. We'll be paying a levy on our power bills to fund it. Big announcement at the Beehive theatrette yesterday. The 'official advice' from MBIE and the rest was that this is the way to go. This will save us all, on average, apparently, $1 a week on electricity. If we're lucky. Because remember, as with all advice, there are caveats. The caveats are "depends on this" and "depends on that". So, we've got an announcement and we hope for the best and this thing will be built, come hell or high water, bar a change of government, by 2027. When the wind doesn't blow and the sun doesn't shine, we'll import LNG and keep the lights on. BUT. Last year we had the Frontier Economics report. Same issue but different set of 'advisors'. They're an independent global consultancy crowd and what they said was quite different. They told us it would basically be a dumb idea to build an import terminal because you've got a massive fixed cost spread over a relatively small amount of output, because you're only using this as a back-up. You can't sell an LNG terminal once you're finished with it. These particular advisors made the point that it's quite a specific piece of kit and could well turn it one of this country's biggest white elephant investments. Yet here we are less than a year later with a different set of advice and another vague plan. There's no doubt this country needs a plan to deal with energy security, but depending on who you ask, this is either brilliant or batshit.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Send us a textThe voice you hear at the steepest start lines has a story—and a system. We sit down with Goldy, the announcer behind the Cirque Series and the force behind the Beehive Bandwagon, to unpack how a kid who DJed camp dances became the guy who turns finish lines into goosebumps. From a fateful Red Bull gig to years across X Games, Dew Tour, and trail races, he shares how preparation, empathy, and restraint shape the sound of an unforgettable race day.We explore the craft that most people never see: studying start lists and past results so callouts are accurate and earned; reading the course so updates actually help families track their runners; pacing energy to protect the voice while still lighting up the key moments. Goldie explains why he treats the winner and the final finisher with equal weight, and why the “last 100 yards” is where brands are built, communities grow, and athletes decide to come back next season. He also gets candid about budgets, live-tracking tradeoffs, and how clear timelines plus a good radio beat fancy tech for keeping crowds engaged.Short-course mountain racing sits at the heart of this conversation. We talk about the visibility, the shared stoke, and the way these events invite elites and first-timers into the same narrative arc. You'll hear how the Cirque Series balances game-day decisions with tight production, why guest experience matters as much as athlete flow, and how a great MC can connect all the dots without getting in the way of the moment. If you care about trail running, event production, or the secret ingredients that make a finish line unforgettable, this one delivers. If this resonated, follow Goldie at beehiveproductions.com and on Instagram at The Beehive Bandwagon. Stayin' Alive shows up with a name that sounds like it should be a whole soundtrack, and the vibe honestly matches, just not in the way people expect. This is Pure Plan's rosin badder, cold-cure style, and the genetic line is Disco Fries x Amnesia OG, which explains a lot about why it feels upbeat, chatty, and mentally switched on.  The first thing you notice is the flavor, because this one does not whisper. You called it guava with that fermented fruit twist, almost kombucha-adjacent, and that is dead on for how “funky-tropical” rosin can hit when it's done right.  It's not “gas” in the classic punch-you-in-the-face way, it's more like fruit got interesting and decided to become a personality. Then the effects come in clean and bright. Not super heady, not couch-glue, more “eyes open, brain curious.” You even clocked that little pressure in the cheeks and forehead, like your face is gently confirming we are, in fact, high right now.  The mood lane is calm, happy, relaxed, and slightly energetic, the kind of high where you suddenly want to be in community. This is the “phones in the basket” strain, the one that makes a living room feel like a hang again.  The one downside, especially at Beehive pricing, is the runtime. You were feeling 20 to 30 minutes and already thinking about another dab, which makes this feel a little too snackable for concentrate money.  Also worth saying out loud, if you overdo it, you said it can flirt with anxiety, but it passed quick. So, small dabs first, let it land, then decide if you want to climb.  For body relief, this wasn't your hero. You didn't rate it as a pain play, and it read more like social, creative, curious energy than deep physical melt.  If your goal is heavy relief, this is probably not the first jar you reach for. If your goal is to vibe, talk, laugh, watch something weird, or fall into a documentary rabbit hole like you're doing research for a PhD in Ancient Aliens, Stayin' Alive understands the assignment.  Genetics, Disco Fries x Amnesia OG.  THC about 78%, with CBG about 1.64%, treat as batch-specific to your jar.  Top terpenes , beta-caryophyllene 2.12%, myrcene 1.329%, limonene 1.019%, humulene 0.989%, linalool 0.367%.  Save on Dr Dabber with Code: Cannabisschool10Save on Storz & Bickel with Code : CannabisschoolSave on Santa Cruz Shredder with Code: CSP10Save on Bomb Erigs with Code: CSPScore 100 on your test

As we ended the last episode, the doctor had told me to eat, and oh man, did I start eating. Looking back on it, I call it 'Healing in the Beehive," because they put me on a standard American diet loaded with carbohydrates and sugar. And I loved every bit of it. Cheeseburgers, tuna melt sandwiches, cookies, cake, pie a la mode. You name it. It was like going down a nostalgic memory lane of the favorite foods of my childhood. I stayed in the hospital for a total of ten days. They explained to me that I had suffered a massive stroke, but for some reason, call it grace, luck or both, the huge blood clot that had caused it found its resting place in my lower right cerebellum. Although that part of the brain is responsible for movement and balance, and the clot had destroyed a large portion of it, it landed in a place that did me no lasting harm, except for a very minor visual impairment. It wiped out a small portion of my left peripheral vision, which just happens to have been where I started seeing that light in the beginning that started the whole thing. During my stay in the hospital, it seemed like everyone who was taking care of me reminded me again and again of how lucky I had been. It was kind of funny because I really didn't have that much of a direct connection to my actual situation. I mean in my experience, I did have a day or two of being pretty out of it, but that's about it, I was pretty out of it. And then the next thing I knew, I felt fine. Of course, Sally knew what had really happened because she had lived through it. But in essence, I kind of slept through it.  And if I hadn't been told how sick I'd been and how close to death I had actually come, I would never have known it.  Anyway, during the hospital stay, it seemed like I was constantly presented with reminders of my situation . One night, for example, they brought me a piece of cherry pie ala mode, which was always one of my most favorite desserts,  and I always get it with vanilla ice cream. Early on, that combination of cherry and vanilla had become a central part of my happy reward center.  When I got to dessert and uncovered the plate, I saw that it had chocolate ice cream on the pie rather than vanilla. It was a bummer, but hey, I could handle it.  "Oh," I said, somewhat disappointed as I looked at the plate. A doctor was in the room, just finishing up his quick exam of me. "What's wrong?" he asked. "Oh nothing," I replied. "It's just that they brought me the wrong ice cream. I like vanilla on my cherry pie and they brought me chocolate. It's no big deal." "Do you know where you are?" the doctor asked me, quizzically. "Sure," I replied, "I'm in the hospital." "You're in the Thomas Jefferson University Hospital of Neuroscience. You've had a massive stroke and you're in the intensive care unit," he corrected me. "And you know what? Most people get carried out of here or they get wheeled out. And it looks like you're going to just stand up and walk away from all this." He wasn't confrontational at all. He was very nice, but he was clearly making his point. "If I were you," he added, "I wouldn't be thinking too much about chocolate and vanilla anymore." He smiled at me and left the room. I got the message and took it in. It never hurts to be reminded of how fortunate you really are. Finally, my blood levels got to the right point and they decided to let me go. At the end, when I was ready to leave, I was sitting in my room and the head nurse came in to do some final paper work and say good-bye. Her name was Anna. She was in her late-forties and had come over from Russia about 20 years earlier. She saw me several times every day and we had become quite close. "You know, David, we have a folder here that we call the Hand of God Folder and that's where your file's going," she said as she was filling out a form. "It's for cases where a horrible tragedy could have happened, but for some reason it didn't. And we can't explain it. We don't know how these remarkable things happen. If we did we would certainly try to do it ourselves. But we can't. So –we have the Hand of God Folder…" She kept writing and then she looked up at me. "OK, we're done," she concluded. "Now, don't take this the wrong way. You're a very nice person and I'm glad we got to know each other. But I hope I never see you again." She paused for a moment and looked me in the eye. I felt intuitively that she was about to say something deeply meaningful or me, and as soon as she began talking, I knew I was right. "Look, you were here for ten days. I've been here for twelve years, and believe me, I've seen everything. And you really have no idea what happened here and, let alone what you've been spared from. "Let's just put it this way," she continued, "For the rest of your life, if you woke up every morning and before you did anything, you got down on your knees and thanked God for the miracle that happened here, you'd still be understating it. "And even from just a medical perspective, this really was a miracle." She went silent for a moment or two. "And believe me, you'll never be able to come up with the amount of gratitude in your heart that would be appropriate for the gift that you've been given. Never. Ever." Moving me to silence, her words went straight to my heart. "Well, I'm sure you're right." I thought to myself, deeply moved. And then something hit me, "Well, at least I can try." Then another thought hit me, "Not a bad way to spend the rest of your life." "Thank you, dear," I finally said to her. "Thanks for everything." She hugged me, gave me a kiss on the cheek and had me sit in the wheelchair that was mandatory for check outs. She wheeled me out into the hall, where Sally was waiting for me. They talked warmly for a few minutes, then my ever-faithful wife took the chair from her, and with rock-steady hands, wheeled me out to the car and drove me back home. Within a few months, I made a complete recovery from the stroke and was able to return to my normal life once again. It kind of felt like nothing had happened and physically, nothing really had. All my faculties were intact and my life went back to business as usual.           But that was all on the outside. Within myself, I was never really the same again. How could I be? When you've been unexpectantly taken to the Exit Door like that and then you're suddenly given another chance, it can be subtle, but everything on the inside changes. Now, for the most part, we all have our normal routines, our responsibilities, and of course, our hopes and fears. But as the years go on, most of our focus goes to solving our problems, big or small.  It becomes a never-ending process and we can end up taking the best parts of our lives for granted while ignoring the incredible beauty that's within us and around us. For me, that had all come to a sudden, screeching halt and I had been removed from my own routine for quite some time.  Now, as I returned to it, even though externally it was basically the same, with the understanding that I had been given a second chance, I was seeing it with eyes that were drenched with gratitude.    But something else was running through me as well. A feeling kept welling up within, like a powerful current at the bottom of the ocean that you can't see from the surface, but you can certainly feel it if you're standing in it. In this way, deep in the core of my being, I kept feeling a strong determination to make the most out of whatever time I had left. In that regard, as the stroke had begun and I was instructed to prepare to die, at one point I was asked if I had learned anything. And that simple question led me to realize how much I actually had learned about the higher understandings in life. At that point, I felt content with how I had lived and how much I had learned and I quickly came to the conclusion that if my time on Earth was really coming to an end at that point, I felt ready for it.  Now, looking back on these extremely powerful events, I could see that my inner growth, the evolution of my awareness, was clearly the most important part of my life.   And that made perfect sense because everything on the outside, my relationships with my family and friends, my life in the world, in essence who I thought I was and what I was doing, was just a basic reflection of my inner being, which was who I really was, within myself. I understood that I really could have easily died at that point, but I didn't. Instead, I had been given more time and I was starting to grasp what a tremendous opportunity that was. Whether I had a few more months, a few more years or a few more decades, it was becoming clear that my focus was to keep on growing toward the highest. So, I returned to my inner practices with a renewed sense of determination. But I was in for an unexpected and rather pleasant surprise. It had all gotten much easier. Actually, looking back on it, it made perfect sense. A lot of the allure of the outer life had fallen away. A close brush with death has a way of doing that to you. It automatically reorganizes your priorities. Trivial things become really trivial. And what matters most, becomes what really matters the most. Now, my practices still required making effort, but things were very different. It was like what happens when winter starts turning into spring. You have the same back yard, but what a difference. The frost is melting and the frozen stream starts running again. Soon buds appear and the scene becomes filled with beautiful flowers and birds, not to mention the sweet fragrances that continually fill the air. But as beautiful as it is, it still requires conscious effort to tend the garden. But this is a different kind of effort – it's the effort of finding, rather than the effort of searching. Although the outer may seem to remain the same, like a rocket that finally escapes the earth's atmosphere, with the resistance gone, the inner transformation keeps picking up speed. So, to go from a space age analogy to an ancient one – as the Zen saying put it a couple of thousand years ago – Before Enlightenment: Chopping Wood and Carrying Water. After Enlightenment: Chopping Wood and Carrying Water. And to close with a much newer old statement from a song by David Byrne Same as it ever was. Same as it ever was. Well, let's let these observations put a timeless end to this episode. And as always, keep your eyes mind and heart open, and let's get together in the next one.

Send us a textWhat do Swifties, Starter jackets, and edge rushers have in common? They all say something real about how culture moves us—who we admire, what we collect, and how we keep evolving. We kick things off with shoutouts and a playful debate about Taylor Swift's fan army versus the Beehive, then detour into comic book logic to settle the eternal question: who actually flies and who just jumps really well? From there, we dig into hip‑hop roots: the first tapes that lit a fuse, the 80s and 90s names that shaped taste, and the Bay Area sound that traveled hood to hood. E‑40 gets a long‑overdue appraisal—his slang, cadence, and inventiveness, and why greatness sometimes gets lost in translation when regional language keeps casual listeners at arm's length. It's part history lesson, part love letter to the artists who built the blueprint.Nostalgia takes center stage with stories about Starter jackets, first pairs of Jordans, prom fits, and the outfits that made us feel untouchable. Those memories aren't just clothes; they're core memories. We compare then and now in training too—how “max everything” became position‑specific work, why edge rushers are redefining defense, and how even the military has embraced smarter strength and conditioning. The thread continues with soccer culture, live match energy at Phoenix Rising, and how global leagues shape the game here.We close on storytelling that hits the heart: animated films packed with adult humor and precise emotional beats that still make grown folks tear up. It's all connected—music, sport, style, and the moments that made us. If you've ever argued about top fives, treasured an old photo, or chased a PR in the weight room, you'll feel right at home with this one.Enjoy the ride, share it with a friend who loves hip‑hop and throwback fits, and don't forget to follow, rate, and leave a quick review—what's your all‑time favorite nostalgia item? Thanks for listening to the Nobody's Talking Podcast. So we put it to our YouTube audience, and nearly a thousand of you delivered a fascinating result. Chris Bishop edged out Erica Stanford by just a single point, with Luxon miles back and Nicola Willis taking a real hammering. Duncan digs into why Bishop and Stanford are resonating right now, what each brings to the table, and why Luxon's position suddenly looks a whole lot more fragile than the Beehive might like to admit. The 365 Days of Astronomy, the daily podcast of the International Year of Astronomy 2009

Hosted by Chris Beckett & Shane Ludtke, two amateur astronomers in Saskatchewan. actualastronomy@gmail.com - Sept 1 - Aurigids ZHR=10 related to Comet Keiss The comet was discovered by Carl Clarence Kiess at Lick Observatory on a photographic plate obtained in the morning hours of 6 July 1911 with the Crocker photographic telescope. The comet appeared as a distorted nebulous object with a short tail. The presence of the comet was confirmed visually the next day. The comet had a well condensed nucleus and a faint tail. In photographs the tail was four degrees long. The comet then was of seventh magnitude and moving southwards. A preliminary orbit suggested the comet was past its perihelion upon discovery and it was calculated that it would approach Earth at a distance of 0.27 AU (40 million km; 25 million mi) on 20 August. On 19 August the comet was reported to be visible with the naked eye, peaking at an estimated apparent magnitude of 5. The comet had been suggested in 1911 to be the return of comet C/1790 A1 (Herschel), also known by its old designation, 1790 I.However, further calculations revealed that the orbit of comet Kiess had an eccentricity too high for an orbital period of 122 years, with the orbit calculated by Louis Lindsey in 1932 indicating an orbital period of 1,903 years.              - Venus 1.5° from Beehive in morning sky - Sept 5 - Wargentin Pancake Visible - Bottom left of Moon - Sept 7 - Full Moon & Lunar Eclipse - Can't see it here but Central to West Au and centered on India. - Sept 8 - Saturn, Neptune & Moon congregate in late evening sky - Sept 11 - Carbon Star R Fornacis best tonight - Sept 12 - Moon 1° North of Pleiades - Sept 14 - Last quarter Moon                   NGC 7552 well placed tonight - Sept 15 - Lunar Curtis X Visible                    Zodiacal light visible in Eastern morning sky next two weeks - Sept 16 - Jupiter South of Moon - Sept 17 - Follow Capella unaided eye into daylight this week. - Sept 19 - Regulus, Venus & Moon form a tight triangle in early morning sky.
