Did you know that rest is a choice? In Isaiah 30:15–16, God offers His people a powerful invitation: “In returning and rest you shall be saved; in quietness and trust shall be your strength. But you were unwilling…” So often, we choose hustle over stillness, control over trust. We run hard—only to end up weary, anxious, and empty. In today's episode, we're talking about the kind of rest that only God can give. If your pace feels unsustainable or your soul feels unsettled, this conversation is your invitation to press reset and step into God's rhythm of grace. As a doctor, I've seen what happens when wounds are left untreated—they don't just go away. In fact, the longer you wait to deal with an infection, the more dangerous it becomes. The same is true for the wounds we carry in our hearts. In today's episode, we're diving into Psalm 37 to learn from David—a man who knew pain, betrayal, and hardship. We'll explore practical wisdom from his life on how to tend to our spiritual wounds before they grow deeper. If you're feeling hurt, stuck, or just weary from the battle, this one's for you. If you've ever felt like all hope is lost—you're not alone. In Psalm 42, David pours out his heart in a season of deep despair. One of the greatest gifts God has given us is the gift of rest, yet most of us are intent on living in the chaos. Chaos is a typical day in the typical life of the typical Christian. But we can be busy without being chaotic. Our days could be packed and not feel out of control. After all, Jesus was busy. His days were jam-packed with ministry and people and demands. Our aim isn't to take a vacation to a peaceful destination and refuse to come back as the means to escape chaos. What is far better is to resolve to find rest in the midst of our chaos. And it all starts when we agree to let go of what we think should happen in our lives and yield to God's perfect place for us: the place of quiet trust. Our culture is facing an endemic of independence and isolationism like never before. With singleness rates as high as 53 percent of the population, we have become accustomed to living on our own. The effects are not only detrimental but counter to God's plan for us. It will take some serious resolve to choose God's way of community when we've adjusted to being alone. But no decision will impact your world more than the decision to live in community. For diving further into these topics, check out my book Resolved here! Few things will stick out in our culture like the resolve to pursue a lifestyle of giving generously and sacrificially when it's unexpected, unnecessary, or uncomfortable. Nothing will point to the worth of the Savior more than our willingness to open our hands and give all that we have for the sake of something bigger than we are, more eternal than we'll ever be, and far more important than our temporary needs. You and I have a responsibility. We know the way, the truth, and the life. We have been given grace upon grace. We have been loved and accepted and forgiven and set free. Anyone who has come face-to-face with God's goodness and embraced it knows that we have a duty—even more, a privilege—to share this truth with others. It's easier to stay silent. It's easier to aim for acceptance. It's easier to hide in the shadows hoping that someone else, somewhere else, will be the one to speak the truth. But if we really believe what we say we believe, then we have a duty as followers of Jesus Christ to speak the truth when it's easier not to. Anything less than that is stark disbelief. Fundamentally, the call to discipleship is a call to yield. It's a call to self-denial. It's a call to say “you go first” even when it might be our right to go first. This is what it means to be a Christian, a fully surrendered follower of Jesus. It's a radical all-in total takeover of who you are with no turning back. Anything remotely close to this will demand your unwavering resolve and the belief that God is the only treasure worth selling everything for. If you're serious about changing your world for Christ, and if you're serious about living what you say you believe, then it's time to resolve to yield to God in every detail of your life—in the big things and the small. Jesus made it clear: the most powerful way to impact the world is by loving others, even when it's inconvenient, uncomfortable, and messy. (John 13:35) In a culture that's self-seeking, the way to stand out is by doing the opposite: to pick up a towel, lean low, and wash feet. But let's be real—this kind of love is impossible without first understanding and receiving God's never-ending love for us. We can't pour out what we haven't first received. When we understand God's love for us, the power of His love can be unleashed through us, transforming our world. This kind of love is unstoppable. If you're ready to receive God's unstoppable love for you especially when you don't deserve it, so that in turn you can love others, tune in to this episode! Today I'm launching a 10-part podcast series based on my book Resolved. Ten Ways to Stand Strong and Live What You Believe. No matter how strong we claim our faith in God is, when life is hard, it all comes down to resolve. Do we really believe what we say we believe? And does what we profess with our lips show up in our everyday actions? In this series, I'm going to present you with ten topics that every follower of Jesus Christ can boldly put a stake in the ground and say, most confidently, “This I believe!” I hope to help you understand the disconnect between what we say we believe and how we live. I want to give you biblical strategies for change that will allow you to stand strong no matter what. For diving further into these topics, check out my book Resolved here! As Christmas approaches, it's easy to get swept up in the busyness of the season—decorations, gifts, gatherings. But what if we chose to pause, reflect, and prepare our hearts for the sacred meaning of this time? In this podcast, I'm sharing a message from Luke 1:26-38, exploring four powerful lessons from Mary's response to the news of Jesus' birth. Her example offers us a blueprint for embracing God's plans with trust and humility in the midst of unexpected circumstances. This Christmas, let's intentionally make room for Jesus in our lives, allowing His peace, joy, and love to take root and reign in our hearts. -- ABOUT: Lina AbuJamra is a Pediatric ER doctor, now practicing telemedicine, and founder of Living With Power Ministries. Today we conclude the study of the book of Acts with Paul in Rome where, although placed under house arrest, he continues to fulfill the calling on his life – to preach the gospel to the gentiles. Here are the key points from this final chapter: 1. At the end God always brings us safely through. 2. At the end God always accomplishes his purposes. 3. At the end God always opens new doors. 4. At the end God always is always in the details. 5. At the end God always wins. ABOUT: Lina AbuJamra is a Pediatric ER doctor, now practicing telemedicine, and founder of Living With Power Ministries. Acts 28 describes the final chapter of Paul's journey to Rome after his arrest. Following a shipwreck, Paul and his companions land first on the island of Malta and then finally in Rome where he is placed under house arrest but given some freedom to receive visitors. Paul spends the next two years in Rome, preaching about the Kingdom of God and teaching about Jesus with boldness and without hindrance. This chapter highlights God's protection over Paul, the spread of the gospel in the midst of uncomfortable circumstances, and the fulfillment of God's promise to bring Paul to Rome. Take a listen! Paul never tires of telling his conversion story, and God never tires of using it to impact others. Today we're wrapping up Acts 26 where Paul shares before King Agrippa, Governor Festus, and other officials his testimony and the reasons behind his unshakable confidence in God's promises. We hope in the promise because Jesus is risen. We hope in the promise because of how we have changed. We hope in the promise because we obey. We hope in the promise because God can do anything. Here are a few key takeaways from the teaching: You develop an indestructible spirit when you believe God no matter what. You develop an indestructible spirit when your talk and your walk are consistent. You develop an indestructible spirit when you rest your hope in the truth (of God's word). You develop an indestructible spirit when you understand the true nature of the battle. You develop an indestructible spirit when you set your eyes on a higher prize. Last week, we began exploring ten principles for living based on Paul's missionary journeys and messages. Today, we'll wrap up our discussion on his life manifesto. Here's what Paul's life was all about: Serve with humility despite what you think you deserve. Be bold in preaching the gospel despite the persecution. Focus on the message despite the improbability of the hearers. Be compelled by the Spirit despite not knowing what lies ahead. Be abandoned to the faith despite a wretched past. Be attentive to the flock despite the attack. Be attached to the Word despite the distractions. Be dependent on the Lord despite your desperate need. Fix your eyes on the Lord despite the threat of the future. Be thankful for the prison because of the opportunity (to testify to others). P.S. In today's episode on Acts 18-19, Paul starts his third missionary journey. When we contrast much of contemporary evangelism with Paul's, its shallowness shows up. Our evangelism tends to be focused on simply inviting people to church. Paul also took the gospel out into the secular world. Our evangelism appeals to the emotions for a decision without an adequate basis of understanding. Paul taught, reasoned, and tried to persuade. Our evangelism is superficial, making brief encounters and expecting quick results. Paul stayed in Corinth and Ephesus for 5 years, faithfully sowing gospel seed and in due time reaping a harvest. In today's podcast Paul concludes his second missionary journey. As he travels and proclaims the good news of Christ, we see a pattern that Paul follows when he enters each city. His first attempt is to persuade the Jews concerning Jesus. He begins in the synagogue where they meet, study Scripture, and pray. But when the Jews reject his message, he turns to the Gentiles. The focus of this episode is on what it means to be changed by the Word. Don't miss it!
