Alexa Grasso's name is certainly in the flyweight title conversation following her unanimous decision win over Viviane Araujo in the main event of UFC Vegas 62, but is she at the top of the list? Or, does Grasso have more work to do to get to her first championship opportunity? On an all-new edition of On To the Next One, MMA Fighting's Mike Heck and Alexander K. Lee put a bow on UFC Vegas 62 from a matchmaking perspective, and discuss what could be next for Grasso, and what needs to happen at UFC 280 between Manon Fiorot and Katlyn Chookagian for her to get the next crack at Valentina Shevchenko. Additionally, future matchups are discussed for Jonathan Martinez following his finish of Cub Swanson in the co-main event, along with fellow victors Dusko Todorovic, Raphael Assuncao, Alonzo Menefield, and more. Keith and Ben preview the seemingly cursed UFC Fight Night: Grasso vs. Araujo, also known as UFC Vegas 62, and...OK, look people. It's bad enough that we lost the Neil Magny vs. Daniel Rodriguez fight, but Joanderson Brito vs. Melsik Baghdasaryan was one of the best matchups on this card and we lost Melsik. Then Ben recorded a solo preview segment for Brito vs. AJ Cunningham because Keith was already out of town for Canadian Thanksgiving, and like four hours later Cunningham is out. So now it's Brito vs. Lucas Alexander and I'm sorry folks, you'll have to stumble through that one without the patented Shillan & Duffy treatment, or even just the Duffy treatment, because this is ridiculous.Speaking of ridiculousness and the patented S&D treatment, Duffy did leave in a bit more of the between-fights chatter this time, partly because some of you seem to enjoy it, but mostly because this is the shortest preview show we've ever done; still under two hours even with extra BS. Hope you enjoy blast-from-the-past references including Houston Alexander, Eric Koch, Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou, Jon Olav Einemo—and of course, multiple Bo Nickal-related asides.0:00 Intro: Was this really the card to give us two weeks to think about?3:41 Mike Jackson (1-1, 1 NC) vs. Pete Rodriguez (4-1)12:02 Tatsuro Taira (11-0) vs. C.J. When Marlon Moraes and Cory Sandhagen lock horns this Saturday at UFC Fight Island, Scott and Dan expect a terrific headliner. So in our pre-event episode, The Couchside Judges revisited close split decisions featuring both men to resolve who deserved the victories.

We welcomed Scott Holburn into the conversation. We discussed UFC 249, 250 looked ahead UFC 251. Scott started talking about the bantamweight division in the UFC. He said the division is stacked with a "murders row of contenders and Sean O'Malleys performance as an example. O'Malley was not in the top 15 until his performance at UFC 250. Scott expressed disappointment at Jose Aldo getting a title shot coming up at UFC 251 against Petr Yan. He pointed to Jose Aldo's debut in the bantamweight division being a decision loss to Marlon Moraes the #1 ranked contender in the division. Our team at Complete Sports thought Aldo won that fight until the decision was read out in the cage. There is some questioning if Aldo deserves it and Scott mentioned Cody Garbrandt, Aljimain Sterling and Marlon Moraes as possibly better opponents for Petr Yan. When Petr Yan was discussed Scott said he was very deserving and looked like a machine. We spoke about Cody Garbrandt"s huge knockout being one of the best finishes we had ever seen. Scott said he has to be one of the fastest punchers in the division and controlled the fights with his calf kicks on Raphael Assuncao. We chatted about the great submission win by Aljimain Sterling who quickly took Cory Sandhagen"s back and sunk in the rear naked choke to get the tap out victory. Scott reiterated how he thinks jujitsu and Muay Thai kicks are dominating the sport at this time in hisory. He reflected on Conor McGregor arguably beating Nate Diaz with those kicks in their second fight. Henry Cejudo beat Dominick Cruz in UFC 249 to retain his belt. We had some big laughs at Cejudo calling himself the greatest of all time. Scott was very accurate in bringing up Jon Jones as a fighter who had really cleaned out his division with no argument and was one of the greatest of all time. Anderson Silva was also brought up as one of the fighters who legitimately can claim that he beat all comers in his division for a lengthy run at the top. Cody Stamann had entered the cage with a heavy heart as his 18 year old brother had just lost his life the previous week. Cody got a huge emotional win over Brian Kelleher. "Martial Arts is Violent Meditation" is one of Holburns favorite sayings and he said it could have been exactly what Cody needed. We then shifted gears to speak about UFC 249 and the discussion started speaking about Justin Gaethje and his dominating performance against Tony Ferguson. Scott had predicted that Gaethje would win and had won a bet with Mike Church(Churchy to most) to have some bragging rights. We both referenced how difficult a matchup this was for Ferguson as he had spent the last few years constantly training for Khabib Nurmagomedov and the fight had been postponed 5 times. Gaethje brings a completely different skill set to the cage and it gave Tony all sorts of troubles in a terrible beating. The conversation shifted to UFC 251 that had just been announced for Fight Island on July 11th and specifically the three title fights on that card. We spoke about the main event that pits Kamara Usman vs Gilbert Burns and how he deserves the title shot. Jorge Masvidal had been rumoured to be the deserving next challenger but it sounds like he might face Conor McGregor and make his money and get the notoriety he wants. Jorge Masvidal had beat Darren Till and knocked out Ben Askren with a flying knee. We then broke down the Max Holloway vs Alex Volkanovski 2 title fight. We both wonder and sort of doubted that Holloway can figure out how to avenge his loss from last time. Scott kind of wrapped it up perfectly about how the UFC has made us feel human again after not having any sports to watch for months!
In the main event between Amanda Nunes and Felicia Spencer, Nunes outclassed her opponent en route to an easy decision victory. In the co-main event featuring a bantamweight clash between Cody Garbrandt and Raphael Assuncao, the former champion looked measured and smart until he scored a vicious walkoff KO at the buzzer of round 2. The feature fight between Aljamain Sterling and Cory Sandhagen didn't last long as Sterling scored a dominant and early first-round rear naked choke submission victory. Elsewhere on the main card, Neil Magny scored a workmanlike decision over Anthony Rocco Martin and Sean O'Malley scored a first-round one-punch walkoff knockout (KO) over longtime veteran Eddie Wineland. On the preliminary portion of the card, Alex Caceres outclassed Chase Hooper, Ian Heinisch quickly dispatched Gerald Meerschart, Cody Stamann scored a hard-fought decision victory over Brian Kelleher, Herbert Burns quickly submitted Evan Dunham, Maki Pitolo TKO'd Charles Byrd and much more. This is my UFC 250 post-fight special.
Amanda "The Lioness" "The GOAT" "The Billy GOAT" however you want to label her she's The Greatest Female Fighter of all time, takes on the tough and hungry Felicia Spencer. Shaun and Chuck break down UFC 250, starting at the top of the card in the main event between the Women's MMA GOAT, Amanda Nunes, and Felecia Spencer for the Women's Featherweight crown, and then the co-main event matchup featuring former Bantamweight champion Cody Garbrandt and perennial contender Raphael Assuncao. The guys continue on with a preview of the rest of the main card, including a very intriguing Aljamain Sterling vs. Cory Sandhagen number one contender bout at 135, asking their respective One Big Question for each fight, and make their picks, including a Lock of the Night. And, as usual, they close the show by handing out their Interim Titles of the Week. Before that, the guys kick off the show talking about the continuing saga that is Khabib vs. Tony Ferguson, Dana White getting trolled by the fake Ariel Helwani Twitter account, internet chatter calling for Khabib to be stripped of his 155 belt, and more.
