Ian Heinisch: "I'M DONE PRETENDING" | The Hopeaholics PodcastFrom UFC fame to foreign prisons, Ian Heinisch's journey is one of chaos, redemption, and unshakable faith. On this episode of The Hopeaholics Podcast, Ian takes us deep into the gritty truth of a life shaped by addiction, violence, smuggling ecstasy, and international fugitive status—all before the age of 21. But in his darkest moment, faced with the weight of his choices and no way out, Ian cried out to God… and everything changed. He walks us through the chaos of being arrested in Canada, fleeing to Europe, serving time in Spanish prisons, and eventually finding faith, recovery, and purpose. Now an entrepreneur and public speaker, Ian opens up about how hitting rock bottom became the catalyst for a spiritual awakening—and how anyone, no matter how far gone, can change their story. In this week's episode Coach Blu speaks to Ian "The Hurricane" Heinisch. Listen to this powerful story as the Hurricane nickname not only embodies his fighting style but also symbolizes the whirlwind of a journey this young fighter has faced outside of the cage. Heinisch recalled being deported from Canada back to the U.S. while working there illegally. Instead of finding legal work in the states, he ended up getting into the drug trade. Heinisch then left his family and hopped on a Greyhound to Indiana. Shortly after arriving, Heinsch traveled to New York then on to Amsterdam. Drug trafficking from Spain to South America. Getting caught with a kilo of cocaine and imprisoned at Canary Islands. After his release, returning to New York he was ultimately taken into custody to serve his time at Rikers Island. Ian worked on himself and after serving his time he fought back and became a middleweight MMA Champion. Ian will show you that you never give up on what you truly want in life. Bloody Elbow fight experts, Zane Simon & Eddie Mercado, are here tonight – Sat, July 24th., to breakdown the UFC VEGAS 32: Cory Sandhagen vs. T.J. Dillashaw event, which was broadcast from the APEX Center in Las Vegas, NV. The guys will have hot takes, possible next fights, as well as reactions to the overall event. The UFC showcased a Bantamweight bout between BJJ artist, Cory Sandhagen and T.J. Dillashaw, who favors Muay Thai mixed in with his BJJ tonight. ‘The Sandman' was ranked #2 and was on a two-fight win streak, having defeated both Frankie Edgar and Marlon Moraes during the past year. Dillashaw was making his comeback to the Octagon with some ring rust after his 2-year suspension from 2019 to 2021 for testing positive for the performance-enhancing drug, recombinant human erythropoietin (EPO). Despite Dillashaw's prolonged absence from the division, he still holds the all-time UFC bantamweight records for wins (12), finishes (8), knockouts (7), title fight wins (5), fight night bonuses (8), knockdowns (9), significant strikes landed (1,004) and total strikes landed (1,340). Our co-main event was slated to be a women's bout between Aspen Ladd and Macy Chiasson, but we lost it a couple days ago due to Chiasson's withdraw based on an injury. Our main card Bantamweight bout between up-and-comer Kyler ‘The Matrix' Phillips and Veteran Raulian Paiva was bumped into the co-main slot at the last minute. The UFC newcomer, Phillips, was on a 4-fight win streak; while the Brazilian Paiva had a 2-fight win streak going for him, out of his 23 matches fourteen of them went to decision. Also on the main card, we had Featherweight veterans Darren Elkins vs. Darrick Minner, ladies Flyweights Maycee Barber and Miranda Maverick, and Bantamweights Adrian Yanez vs. Randy Costa. Four out of our six prelim bouts ended with some wicked finishes, two of them in the first round, the others in the second; each well worth going back to catch a glimpse of if you missed them. Overall, this now 11-bout card saw 2 - 1st Rd finishes, 5 KO/TKO's, 1 sub, & 5 decisions, 1 majority, 2 split. Rounding things out, bonuses for putting forth POTN efforts went to Adrian Yanez, Darren Elkins; FOTN honors went to Raulian Paiva vs. Kyler Phillips. Here's a look at the fight results & updated records for the ‘UFC VEGAS 32' fight card: ESPN/ESPN+ MAIN CARD 11. 135lbs: T.J. Dillashaw (17-4) DEF. Zane Simon & Eddie Mercado are here tonight, Sat, April 17th., 2021, to breakdown the ‘UFC VEGAS 24: ‘WHITTAKER VS GASTELUM’ event & discuss some of the action from the Triller ‘PAUL VS. ASKREN’ Boxing PPV event, too. The guys will have hot takes, possible next fights, as well as reactions to the overall event. (SPOILERS...) Returning to the octagon for the main event, we had a middleweight clash between Robert ‘The Reaper’ Whittaker, aka: Bobby Knuckles, who was coming at this bout on a two-fight win streak, with a 22-5 career record and Kelvin Gastelum, who was coming off a victory to Ian Heinisch at UFC 258, he now carries a 17-6 career record. In the co-main, we had anticipated a lightweight bout between Drakkar Klose, and Jeremy Stephens, but in an odd turn of events that bout was cancelled at the last minute due to an injury Klose incurred due to a shove from Stephens at the weigh-ins. Prior to that, in our new co-main event, we had a surprising decision victory by fight veteran, Andrei Arlovski over the oddsmakers favorite, Chase Sherman. Prior to this decision, we had a six out of our ten-bout card end in various types of decisions. Our two finishes included an exciting KO/TKO via left hook and hammerfist at the one and a half minute mark of the second round between Tony Gravely and Anthony Birchak in our opening prelim, as well as a sweet Power Guillotine Choke just two minutes into the first round when Gerald Meerschaert faced Bartosz Gabinski. Overall, this now whittled down 10-bout card saw that one exhilarating first round KO/TKO finish, as well as that one submission, and eight decisions - including four Split (one technical), and a five-round Decision for our main event. Rounding things out, bonuses for putting forth POTN efforts went to Tony Gravely and Gerald Meerschaert; FOTN honors went to Robert Whittaker vs. Kelvin Gastelum. Not only did we enjoy a UFC Fight Night, we also had that big PPV Boxing Event/music concert tonight from the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, GA, promoted by Triller Fight Club and headlined by social media superstar Jake Paul (2-0, 2 KOs) in an eight-round professional bout versus former Bellator and ONE champion Ben Askren, who was making his pro boxing debut. On this episode of the podcast we talked about the dominant performance of Usman over former training partner and close friend Gilbert Burns. Also, we went deep into a card that was filled with very high class performances that kicked off from the prelims. We discussed Kelvin Gastelums comeback victory over Ian Heinisch, considering Kelvin was coming off a 3 fight losing streak, we believe that he just saved his spot with the UFC rooster. Other fights we discussed were Rodlfo Viera vs. Anothony Hernandez and Maki Pitolo vs. Julian Marquez. There was also talks about TJ Dillashaws comeback fight which is rumoured to be against his former mentor Uriah Faber and the speculation revolving around McGregor and Poirer on whether there will be a 3rd fight.

Join us right here, or for VIDEO on our Combat Culture YouTube Channel: here - https://youtu.be/CVcpaC5iU7U, for a ‘radio style’ play-by-play broadcast of the UFC 258 PPV (pay-per-view) MAIN CARD with LIVE updates, commentary, results & reactions, which began at the start of the Featured Prelim bout between Rodolfo Vieira & Anthony Hernandez. Tonight, the UFC showcases a battle for the UFC Welterweight Championship in the main event. In that featured bout of the UFC 258 PPV card, which is being broadcast from the Apex Center, Las Vegas, Nevada, we have — USMAN and BURNS going at it for the belt. Returning to the octagon for that main event tonight, as mentioned, we have ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’, the reigning UFC Welterweight Champion, Kamaru Usman, with a remarkable 17-1 record, after a seven month break from UFC action to defend the title against contender Gilbert ‘Durinho’ Burns, with his impressive 19-3 record. Originally, this fight was slated for UFC 251 in July, 2020, but was cancelled after Burns and his coach, Greg Jones, tested positive for COVID-19. Then they looked like they would go at it at UFC 256, but the bout was delayed again due to Usman recovering from injuries — tonight it is finally happening. In the replacement co-main event, we have a Flyweight tilt between Maycee ‘The Future’ Barber, entering the octagon with a 8-1 record vs. Alexa Grasso, with her 12-3 record. Also on the card, we have an exciting Middleweight bout taking place between former interim UFC Middleweight Champion, Kelvin Gastelum and Ian ‘The Hurricane’ Heinisch. Gastelum is coming at this off a three-fight losing streak, having been defeated by the likes of Hermansson, Till and Adesanya. While Heinisch is coming off a win to Gerald Meerschaert last June, 2020. As if that’s not enough, we also have an exciting match-up for our featured prelim between up-and comers Rodolfo ‘The Black Belt Hunter’ Vieira and Anthony ‘Fluffy’ Hernandez, also at Middleweight; worth mentioning - Vieira is a five-time Brazilian Jiu Jitsu World Champion and in other news Hernandez pulled out of this bout just a mere month ago due to a positive COVID-19 test... it will be interesting to see if he is truly recovered enough to be competing. These bouts will have been preceded by a fully-packed undercard. What a wild night full of fights we have to share with you! Our first subject is Ian Heinisch, whose life's journey has more twists and turns than just about anyone. Once a wrestling prodigy in Colorado, Ian found himself in Spanish prison for drug charges, where he began seriously training in MMA. Only a few years later, he's a ranked UFC fighter.
