Roisin O'Hagan is a singer-songwriter from Essex, UK, who has been writing, performing and releasing music since she was 12 years old. Having grown up in a musical household, Roisin was inspired to create songs that upholds storytelling songwriting at its core, much like the music she grew up listening to such as Counting Crows, Taylor Swift, Tom Petty, Bruce Springsteen, Ed Sheeran and Coldplay. Following her 2022 EP, Dreamstate, which was a Nashville-recorded country/pop EP, Roisin is now entering a new chapter, as she begins to unveil her most authentic work today. As she opens up about difficult themes from a real, raw and human approach, Roisin sucks listeners into her world.

Mary Black is woven into the fabric of Irish society. Her pioneering album No Frontiers was an outstanding and ground breaking work that still resonates with Irish people today. It's wonderful to see the legacy of the album now. At my gigs I would see people my own generation but now I also see those younger men and women who have had the music passed down to them or have discovered it themselves and it's a very emotional experience. And Mary herself has passed the musical gift down to her own offspring, the ever present and super talented Danny O'Reilly of The Coronas and the wonderful and uniquely talented Roisin O. The podcast also contains a wonderful version of the title track which includes her daughter Roisin. Peter McVerry Trust, Simon Community Ireland and Focus Ireland will be the recipients of all profits of the single and album sales, which they have agreed will go directly to rehoming and rehousing on a national level.

Mary Black talks to Róisín about one of her passions: promoting home-grown Irish music on the radio. She tells Róisín about her upcoming Last Call tour in Australia, her last tour abroad. And they talk about her musical family - daughter Roisin O and son Danny O’Reilly, lead singer of rock band The Coronas. She has many upcoming performances, including one in Vicar Street, Dublin on 16th April and at the Millennium Forum in Derry on 23rd April.
