The guys from Dawgman.com - Kim Grinolds, Chris Fetters, and Scott Eklund - had to find a spot to record while the UCLA-UW Softball game was going on behind them to offer up their thoughts on today's final scrimmage before 'Dawgs After Dark', as well as update UW fans on the players that got drafted today. And as it fortuitously worked out for us, Zach Durfee was taken as the 7th Husky in the 7th round just moments before we were set to wrap up the podcast, so we were able to give our thoughts on that news too. To start, we talked about the general tone of the scrimmage, which went 130 plays according to UW Head Coach Jedd Fisch. We talked about the gulf in class between Demond Williams and the rest of the quarterbacks room. We talked about the running backs that continue to get turns and how that room will invariably change once Jayden Limar and Trey Cooley are cleared to play. We talked about how good it was to see Ohio State transfer Bodpegn Miller get some snaps during the scrimmage and also how some of the lesser-known pass-catchers, like Charlie Crowell, started to get some production. We talked about interceptions by Kayden Greene and freshman safety Gavin Day highlighting the play the defense. We talked about the battle in the trenches, how it's been a blessing that no one has really gotten injured in there so far this spring, and how the rooms will definitely improve, especially when the DL gets former Mississippi State standout freshman Kai McClendon back. But mostly it was about how the defense is still a ways ahead of the offense, and also how the competition level has continued to rise and rise, leading to more scuffles and how the competition has pressurized things to where there's more breakdowns - like poor snaps, penalties, and the like. Scott offered up a quick recruiting update, as there were a few prospects there today but UW is really gearing up their recruiting efforts to coincide with Dawgs After Dark. And then Zach Durfee was picked by Jacksonville shortly before we closed out the show. RUNDOWN Mitch and Hotshot Scott open Episode 372 setting the stage for the 2026 Prediction Show while reacting to Team USA's Olympic hockey gold and debating why the United States can compete in hockey but not soccer. Mitch checks in from Mariners spring training in Peoria, describing a genuine World Series vibe around the pitching staff — before admitting he needed a personal "attitude adjustment" on 22-year-old second baseman Cole Young. Mitch welcomes back Danny O'Neil, Jason Puckett, and Dave "Groz" Grosby for the 2026 Prediction Show, teasing last year's misses while crowning Puckett as the new champ. The panel makes rapid-fire forecasts on the Seahawks' 2026 season: record, playoff finish, key contract calls (Kenneth Walker, Riq Woolen, Josh Jobe, Rashid Shaheed), draft/free-agent priorities, Sam Darnold's contract future and stat lines, plus big-number projections for JSN and other core pieces. The panel shifts to college football, with Danny projecting a 12-win Washington season and a College Football Playoff berth—while also predicting major turnover with Jed Fisch and Demond Williams gone by 2027. They then pivot to baseball, where Puck and Groz forecast an AL West title and a Mariners trip to the World Series, while Danny takes the contrarian path with 88 wins and no playoffs. The panel finishes Mariners predictions with bold calls on Colt Emerson's debut date, Andrés Muñoz's save total, and the club's World Series outlook—while Danny pegs the Yankees as champions. The conversation widens to NBA expansion in Seattle, where opinions split on timeline and ownership possibilities, and then to the 2026 World Cup, with wildly different forecasts for Team USA. The segment wraps with NBA championship picks, MVP projections, and LeBron James' uncertain future as the Prediction Show heads toward its finale. The panel turns to March Madness, NFL draft projections, and bold NFL quarterback predictions before branching into golf, tennis, the World Baseball Classic, and the Kraken's playoff outlook. Danny calls for Houston to win the NCAA title, Puck backs Arizona, and Groz picks UConn—while wild swings follow on Scheffler majors, Rory's chances, and LeBron's future. The segment culminates with dramatic wild-card predictions, including a potential MLB lockout, a Jamal Crawford-led Sonics return, and a blockbuster Seahawks in-season trade. It is officially the offseason, unfortunately, but just because the confetti has been cleaned up does not mean the conversations about the CFP have stopped. In fact it is quite the opposite. The difference is these conversations are not about what is happening on the field. The debate continues to rage on as commissioners discuss potential expansion of the CFP. Andy Staples and Ross Dellenger discuss what happened in the meetings that were held in the week leading up to the National Championship. The Big Ten and the SEC seem to be at an impasse of how much they want the College Football Playoff to expand. With the deadline fast approaching, no decision appears in sight. Ross explains why these two commissioners hold all the power for this decision. Then, the guys shift from one hot button topic to the next. The transfer portal. Specifically one athlete. Darian Mensah. The Duke quarterback has officially entered the transfer portal even though he has a signed NIL contract with Duke. The Blue Devils are suing Mensah to prevent him from leaving. It is expected he will head to Miami to be their new quarterback. Andy and Ross discuss the differences between this situation and the one with Demond Williams and Washington. They share why it seems like Mensah has a good chance to win this case and how schools can prevent these situations in the future. Plus, they dive into Adidas' potential impact in this situation and their overall aggressive handling of NIL. Also, Duke wide receiver Cooper Barkate has entered the portal as well, with Miami being a favorite to land him too.Later, the big news in college athletics is no longer about football. It is over in the college basketball world as Charles Bediako has temporarily been granted the ability to return to Alabama basketball. There is a hearing next week that will determine whether or not he can return full-time. Bediako previously played at Alabama and entered the 2023 NBA Draft. Although he has never played in the NBA, he has played on multiple Summer League and G League teams.
