We already discussed the D Backs rumors, but another one has popped up! It appears that a lot of teams have been inquiring about Louis Robert Jr from the White Sox and one of them is the Mariners. How would a trade look and what hurdles would we have to clear? He's owed about $7 million for the rest of the season. Do you even want him on the roster or in the clubhouse? By all accounts, he is unmotivated and only relies on his natural talents. Is he any good? Will he actually help the team? Can he get back to the 2023 version of himself? What would a trade for him actually cost you? :45- We wrap up the show with one last thing! See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

The guys from Dawgman.com - Kim Grinolds, Chris Fetters, and Scott Eklund - have been very busy since the end of the regular season for football, because that's when the mid-year signing period for high school players and the beginning of the transfer portal for current college players happens. Chris and Scott already talked at length in the previous podcast about the 29-player high school recruiting class that Washington signed back on December 4, but they haven't talked about the transfer portal yet - until today. As of today (Friday 12/13), nine current UW players on scholarship have entered their names into the transfer portal (OL Kahlee Tafai, DB Curley Reed, OL Gaard Memmelaar, RB Cameron Davis, DB Tristan Dunn, RB Sam Adams, EDGE Maurice Heims, EDGE Lance Holtzclaw, and LB Bryun Parham). And also as of today, Washington has two portal commits (Oklahoma OL Geirean Hatchett, and Kansas State OL Carver Willis). There's seven portal visitors expected on campus this weekend, as well as a visitor Scott alluded to in the podcast that has since become known via his social network accounts, and we posted that information HERE. After nearly 40 minutes of portal talk, the chat turned to the other big college football story of the week, former New England Patriots Head Coach Bill Belichick taking over as the new head coach at North Carolina. This new has obvious connections to Washington, as Bill's son Steve is the Huskies' current defensive coordinator. Is it a done deal that Steve is going to join his Dad in Chapel Hill? At the very least it seems like $1.2 million things need to happen before January 1st if Steve plans on joining his Dad. That's the number of his buyout if he left Montlake now before the end of the year. But is that the only thing holding him back? And then before offering up our final thoughts on the beginning of an eventful post-regular season for UW Football, Kim and Chris had to offer some thoughts on what's going on with men's hoops, especially with the Washington State game coming up next Wednesday. What's working well for UW, what needs improvement, and just how much are they missing Franck Kepnang? The guys from Dawgman.com - Kim Grinolds, Chris Fetters, and Scott Eklund - wrapped up Friday night's 'Dawgs After Dark' at Husky Stadium by recording some of their own thoughts on the night, the attendance, what they saw during the roughly 75-play scrimmage, the standouts, and what the next few weeks and months are going to look like for UW Football as they continue to construct their roster and put things in place ahead of the 2024 season. To start, the guys talked about the atmosphere at Husky Stadium, having the spring game at night (it was a good idea and probably should continue to be done at night), how the game went, some of the standout plays, and also offered up some very unofficial statistics. After a quick break, the second half of the podcast mostly centered around recruiting, which was a focal point of the night, and will consume the UW staff's every movement for the next few weeks as they hit the road to find players for the 2025 class and beyond, while still having one eye on what's going on at home due to the transfer portal, setting up official visits, etc... Jake Locker, Washington Huskies football legend, joins Dave Softy Mahler and Dick Fain to talk about the state of UW football after the last eight months, the quarterback position for the Dawgs right now, and acting as a Captain for the Spring Game tonight.
Practice moved into the Dempsey Indoor Facility this week as the team continues to prepare for 'Dawgs After Dark'. Former UW players expected to be there for 'Dawgs After Dark' Friday night: Marcus Peters, Vita Vea, Shaq Thompson, Danny Shelton, Jake Locker, and more are expected to be announced during the week. Now that Washington is into its final week of spring football, there's a feeling the team is using this week like a game week. So starting this Monday, the Huskies are practicing in shells and shorts and practice was moved into the Dempsey Indoor Facility. After a Saturday scrimmage, that meant a lot of install and prep work for the Huskies, but not a ton to talk about for the media. So what that meant today was that the guys from Dawgman.com - Kim Grinolds, Scott Eklund, and Jack McCauley - didn't have a ton to talk about in terms of team periods and competition. But that didn't stop the guys from talking about a few of the most memorable plays during Monday's practice, as well as a few memorable appearances from some VIPs and recruits. Kim also talked a bit about the two pieces of hoops news that came out Monday; Franck Kepnang's return and also the signing of former UC Irvine and Butler guard D.J. Davis. The guys from Dawgman.com - Kim Grinolds, Chris Fetters, and Scott Eklund - found some time at the end of an incredibly busy week to recap all the comings and goings on Montlake. To start, the guys give their thoughts on the passing of one of our favorite posters, David Handy - otherwise known as AANDY. His Meanderings became the stuff of message board legend, and he will be sorely missed. Talk then turned to all the happenings on campus this week, headlined by Washington State Athletic Director Pat Chun moving from Pullman to Seattle to become UW's new AD. As you could expect, nerves are somewhat raw on the other side of the state. And the influence of former AD Jen Cohen continues to resonate with the hiring of Chun, who tripled fundraising efforts while at WSU and brought them championship-level coaches. Right as Chun was being introduced as Washington's 17th Director of Athletics, 19 former UW football players took part in their Pro Day at the Dempsey Indoor Facility. The guys talked about who had a big day, starting with QB Michael Penix Jr, who ran - depending on whose stopwatch you trust - anywhere from 4.45 to 4.6 in the 40-yard dash. Why has the draft world suddenly come to the conclusion that Penix is a first round lock? The guys ended up talking to 13 of the 19 players who took part and they give their stories and thoughts on some of the players they spoke to. After a quick break the talk turned back to the current comings and goings with respect to UW Football and the Wednesday pre-spring press conference with Jedd Fisch, Brennan Carroll, and Steve Belichick. What stood out? It's probably not what you might expect. Later Wednesday afternoon came the introductory press conference for new UW Men's Basketball Coach Danny Sprinkle. Kim and Chris were both on hand; what were their takeaways from the event? Scott then offered up the latest recruiting news, starting with arguably the biggest news that was overlooked in a week full of news; the verbal commitment of 2025 running back Julian McMahan. He also talked about upcoming official visits and more as recruiting continues to heat up to coincide with spring ball.
