El ejército de Estados Unidos capturó la semana pasada en el Atlántico norte al petrolero Marinera, conocido hasta pocos días antes como Bella 1. A pesar de que navegaba con bandera rusa y de que lo hacía sin carga, el buque fue interceptado tras ser acusado de formar parte de la llamada “flota fantasma" que utilizan Gobiernos como los de Venezuela, Rusia e Irán para evadir sanciones internacionales. La operación fue ejecutada por un equipo de operaciones especiales que partió desde una base en Gran Bretaña, aprovechando que el navío, de grandes dimensiones, transitaba de camino a Rusia por un paso estratégico entre Escocia e Islandia. Esta acción se enmarca dentro del "bloqueo total y completo" anunciado el mes pasado por Donald Trump contra los petroleros vinculados a Venezuela. El Bella 1 ya contaba con sanciones previas desde 2024 por transportar crudo iraní. Al advertir que habían detectado su presencia, el capitán recibió órdenes de adentrarse en el Atlántico, apagó el sistema de identificación automática (AIS) y cambió el nombre y la bandera del buque para intentar despistar a las autoridades. Pero los guardacostas de EEUU no le perdieron de vista y fueron siguiéndole hasta que estuviese situado en un punto donde pudiera ser abordado con seguridad. El AIS es un transpondedor obligatorio que garantiza la seguridad marítima y permite que los barcos se vean entre sí. Apagarlo es una práctica común de las naves que operan en la sombra. La flota fantasma no ha hecho más que crecer en los últimos años y hoy representa un problema de primer orden. Según datos de S&P Global y TankerTrackers, existen cerca de mil barcos que transportan petróleo y derivados objeto de sanciones. Estos buques suelen tener más de 20 años de antigüedad, carecen de seguros occidentales y utilizan banderas de conveniencia de países con regulaciones marítimas muy laxas como Gabón o Camerún. Además, emplean técnicas sofisticadas como la falsificación de coordenadas GPS y realizan maniobras arriesgadas como transferir crudo a de barco a barco en alta mar para ocultar el origen del petróleo. En el caso de Venezuela, aproximadamente el 70% de sus exportaciones dependen de estos buques de la flota fantasma. El Gobierno estadounidense parece que por fin se ha puesto en serio a combatir esta lacra, pero sólo los que se dirigen o salen de Venezuela, obviamente como herramienta del presión para el actual gobierno de Delcy Rodríguez. Aunque las potencias occidentales llevan años intentado asfixiar la logística de la que se valen estos barcos mediante sanciones a empresas de gestión y servicios de suministro de combustible (bunkering), la flota ha seguido funcionando debido a la demanda de países como China e India, que aprovechan los descuentos del crudo sancionado. La captura del Marinera supone un cambio de estrategia. Ahora deben contemplar también el abordaje directo, lo que sólo puede leerse como una advertencia clara para que en Caracas se percaten que el bloqueo va en serio. Pero si solo se queda para Venezuela no servirá de mucho, la flota seguirá operando y, al mismo tiempo, proporcionando recursos a dictaduras como la rusa o la iraní. Economy Trump’s Tariffs Are Sinking The Eurozone  German trade surpluses are shrinking, with 2025 exports to the US projected down 7% and overall trade surplus far below 2024 levels. Structural challenges—especially Chinese competition in automotive—compound short-term pressures, threatening Germany’s role as Eurozone anchor. A German recession risks Eurozone-wide contagion, potential ECB stimulus, and euro depreciation, clouding the outlook for 2026. Since tariffs stepped in, the Eurozone has struggled with exports and hasn’t even retaliated to them. A passive approach that shows off all its weaknesses and, above all, is sinking the economy of its major member: Germany. Germany was already stuck with a negative GDP growth before tariffs, but the latter are acting as a final blow for the third economy in the world. A couple of weeks ago I pointed out the main risks that concern Japan (the fourth economy in the world); now it is time to assess the shape of the German economy. How tariffs are hitting Germany Germany's total exports in 2024 amounted to $1.63 trillion, and 11% of these goods were exported to the US, the main trading partner. Just this data says a lot; in fact, Germany used to rely on the US to generate billions and billions of trade surpluses. A sort of Chinese approach, but at a lower scale. Now, almost every European good exported to the US is subject to a 15% tariff, which is making German goods less convenient for US companies. We know that the latter pay most of the tariffs, and this means bearing higher costs of goods sold, therefore lower profits. Companies don't like to reduce their net profit margin, so it is not a surprise they are looking around to find new trading partners. On top of this significant issue, the currency fluctuations are adding further pressure on German exports.. The government that stole from its people is being forced to pay restitution for their own fraud, abuse and misconduct. Compare and contrast this approach with the trillions of U.S. taxpayer funds that were used in the failed efforts in Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, Syria, etcetera….  or even Kuwait, albeit the Kuwaiti's offered, but prior U.S. leadership chose influence over restitution. In this example, almost immediately the funds now in the control of President Trump can be deployed to the greater benefit of the Venezuelan people. Another way to look at this is like a type of ‘sovereign wealth fund' created by the corrupt Venezuelan officials, using the resources that belong to the Venezuelan people, to support the interim needs of the same citizens they victimized. Una región que desde siempre ha estado al centro de la historia italiana La historia de la Toscana abarca un larguísimo período de tiempo, que va desde la prehistoria a nuestros días, siendo crucial el período a partir del Medioevo, por el nacimiento de la lengua italiana. Empieza en el siglo VIII a.C.: con los Etruscos, vencidos después por el Imperio Romano. Después de la caída del Imperio Romano, la región pasó a ser dominada por los ostrogodos y los bizantinos, antes de ser objeto de la conquista por parte de los Longobardos (569), que la erigieron a ducado con sede en Lucca (Ducado de Tuscia). En el siglo XI Pisa se convirtió en la ciudad más potente de la Toscana, con la extensión de dominio de República Marinera a casi toda la Toscana tirrenica (del Mar Tirreno). Alrededor del siglo XII empieza el período de los Ayuntamientos libres, y Lucca se convierte en el primer comune (ciudad importante) de Italia. Nacen las primeras formas de democracia participativa y las primeras asociaciones de artes y oficios, que hicieron de la Toscana un irrepetible ejemplo de autonomía cultural, social y económica. Entre las ciudades de la región se destaca enseguida, por motivos culturales, sociales y económicos, el Comune-Signoria de Firenze. Entre los años 300 y 400, gracias a la gran cantidad de literatos ilustres y artistas, la Toscana, y en manera especial la ciudad de Firenze dieron un grande con tributo al Renacimiento Italiano. A partir del siglo XII también la Toscana se fragmentó en una numerosa cantidad de estados, entre los cuales la República de Firenze y la República de Siena eran los más importantes. Durante el siglo XV subió al poder la familia Medici que, como las mayores familias florentinas, se había enriquecido gracias a los bancos y había obtenido relevancia política en las instituciones republicanas a partir de la mitad del 1400. A partir de Lorenzo il Magnífico, el poder mediceo se consolidó y Cosimo de' Medici obtuvo el título de Duca de la Toscana primero, y más tarde, en el 1569, el de Granduca de Toscana. La familia Medici continuó a reinar en toda la Toscana ininterrumpidamente hasta el 1737. El Granducado de la Toscana, pasó a la familia de los Lorena. La innvovación más importante de los Lorena, bajo el Granduca Pietro Leopoldo, fue la abolición de la pena de muerte, que en aquella época fue una innovación de vital importancia. La única interrupción durante la soberanía de los Lorena fue el paréntesis napoleónico que duró hasta el 1814. El último Granduca de la Toscana fue Leopoldo II que reinó hasta la entrada del territorio en el naciente estado unitario italiano. El período lorenense (de los Lorena) fue para la Toscana un período iluminado, a partir del gobierno de Pietro Leopoldo (que reformó el ordenamiento judiciario), hasta el último granduca que obtuvo resultados muy positivos, con la construcción de los primeros ferrocarriles, la creación del catastro y la mejora de la Maremma (zona costera de la Toscana). El pasaje al Estado Unitario Italiano fue fruto de un plebiscito, promovido por el Gobierno Provisorio de la Toscana, que decretó la anexión al Reino de Sardegna y como consecuencia al naciente Reino de Italia. En espera del traslado de la capital a Roma, lo cual sucedió en el 1870, Firenze hospedó el gobierno de la nación durante cinco años, convirtiéndose en el centro, no solo de la cultura, sino además, de la política italiana. La historia de la Toscana se identifica, a partir de este momento, con la del Estado Italiano, del cual forma parte, a pesar de conservar una especificidad que la distingue de las otras regiones.

La sala Curuxeiras de la Autoridad Portuaria de Ferrol-San Cibrao acogerá el próximo viernes 13 de junio a las 11:00 horas una nueva actividad abierta al público dentro del proyecto Nós Mariñeir@s, impulsado por el Concello de Ferrol. Se trata de un showcooking a cargo de l@s chefs ferrolanos Álvaro González, Queca Aguilar y Dani López de la asociacion Férvello de Ferrol Vello. Durante la actividad, el cocinero enseñará a los asistentes dos recetas frías elaboradas con productos del mar, que fusionan tradición local con sabores internacionales: los “rollitos de primavera a la ferrolana” y el “boquerón ferrolano que se metió en un burrito mexicano”. Al finalizar, los platos podrán ser degustados por el público asistente. El plazo de inscripción se abre mañana viernes a través del número de WhatsApp 604 046 359. El aforo está limitado a 60 plazas. Esta propuesta forma parte de una programación más amplia que continuará con la presentación de un recetario colaborativo elaborado con aportaciones de los vecinos y vecinas del barrio de Ferrol Vello, así como con una exposición que recogerá el trabajo desarrollado desde el año pasado en el marco de esta iniciativa. Nós Mariñeir@s es un proyecto subvencionado por la Consellería do Mar, financiado con fondos FEXPA gestionados a través del GALP Golfo Ártabro Norte, en el que colaboran la Autoridad Portuaria, la Cofradía de Pescadores, la Asociación de Vecinos de Ferrol Vello, la Asociación de Hostelería Férvello y la Escuela Oficial Náutico-Pesquera.

El Concello de Ferrol continúa desarrollando el programa de actividades del proyecto Nós Mariñeir@s, con el objetivo de poner en valor la cultura marinera de la ciudad y del barrio de Ferrol Vello. Una de las próximas citas será el showcooking infantil organizado por la asociación Férvello, que tendrá lugar el 17 de mayo en el restaurante A Maruxaina. Dirigido a niños y niñas de entre 8 y 12 años, el taller acercará a los más pequeños a los productos del mar, enseñándoles a preparar platos en frío. La actividad comenzará a las 10:00 de la mañana y las inscripciones pueden realizarse a través del número de WhatsApp 604 046 359. Y ya en el mes de junio, el día 13, se celebrará una nueva cita culinaria, esta vez para público adulto. Será un showcooking con degustación a cargo de dos cocineros de la asociación Férvello, en la sala de exposiciones de la Autoridad Portuaria a las 11 de la mañana. Al finalizar, se entregará un recetario con platos tradicionales elaborados con productos de la ría, recopilados con la colaboración de vecinos y vecinas de Ferrol Vello.

La candidatura capitaneada por Gonzalo Sánchez Millor ha anunciado que optará a la presidencia de La Marinera. Bajo el lema ‘Es momento de remar juntos', el candidato propone una “renovación estratégica que impulse al club hacia nuevas metas no solo deportivas, sino también sociales”. Según Sánchez Millor, el objetivo de su candidatura es “fomentar la excelencia deportiva y que todos los socios sientan orgullo de pertenecer a este club.” Para ello, la plancha apuesta por reforzar la cantera mediante la puesta en marcha de una escuela deportiva, además de promover la atracción de remeros castreños, todo ello con unas cuentas saneadas basadas en la transparencia y soportadas en el patrocinio.

En este episodio Yannina Thomassiny entrevista al maestro Kike Pinto. Un hombre dedicado a la música y a la medicina desde hace ya muchísimo tiempo. Nacido en Lima en 1956, de padres migrantes de los Andes del Perú. Ha dedicado gran parte de su vida a estudiar la música tradicional Andina y Amazónica. La selva y los Apus son su segundo hogar. Ha caminado con las comunidades de San Pedro de Casta, departamento de Lima y Japu, Nación Q'ero, departamento de Cusco. Participó en ceremonias y aprendió a componer y cantar canciones para el culto al Agua (Walina) y otros géneros de su Música Tradicional (Wayri Ch'unchu, Pukllay, etc.), así como de su amorosa relación con los Apus y la Pachamama. Con representantes y maestros de pueblos nativos amazónicos aprendió a componer y cantar canciones ceremoniales (Ikaro) inspiradas por estados ampliados de conciencia y por las Plantas Maestras. Además de componer canciones populares (La Canoa, Waynu, Marinera, Yaraví, etc.), cantadas por diversos intérpretes de la música tradicional andina y componer música para danzas y rituales tradicionales. Ha creado una vasta colección de instrumentos musicales, con los cuales fundó, en la ciudad de Cusco, el Instituto de Cultura y Museo de Instrumentos Musicales Andinos y Amazónicos “Taki”, abierto al público por 15 años en esa ciudad. Es expositor, conferencista y concertista del equipo de National Geographic en el Perú, como experto en la Música Andina y Amazónica tradicional.
