Join us as we gear up for the Seahawks Sunday Night Football matchup against the Washington Commanders! How will the loss of Julian Love to injured reserve impact on the Seahawks defense and how will Mike Macdonald manage the return of Devon Witherspoon? With the Commanders recent struggles, Washington will be desperate for a win against a Seahawks team that has dominated on the road. The Commanders offense gets Jayden Daniels back, but they may not have the downfield offense to be able to attack the Seahawks defense. With the trade deadline approaching, could that impact how Seattle handles the playtime for Tariq Woolen on Sunday? Cooper Kupp, if he plays, may be limited against the Commanders, but that could prove beneficial in going heavy with tight-end heavy formations and Robbie Ouzts returning. We get into our Do Better and Better at Life in this week's show as our podcast host is no longer supporting our standalone app. We recommend podcast apps like Pocket Casts and Castamatic to listen to your favorite shows. We touch on Russell Wilson's recent comments as he defended himself against Broncos coach Sean Payton and thank our supporters for the month of October. The Washington Commanders (3-5) get Jayden Daniels back officially and take on the Seattle Seahawks (5-2), fresh off a bye, on Sunday Night Football. Both teams will be wearing their throwback uniforms. We touch on the All-22 Review vs Kansas City to begin the episode. What went well? What could've been better? KDot highlights the younger guys playing on defense, specifically Jordan Magee and Tyler Owens. We begin, as we always do, with the injury report for the game. The Commanders injury report sees Terry McLaurin out once again, but the rest of the team looks good to go, with Laremy Tunsil and Johnny Newton appearing good to go, and Deebo Samuel not even being listed on the injury report. On the other side, Seattle are largely healthy, with only Julian Love likely to miss the game. The Commanders offense, featuring Jayden Daniels once again, take on a tremendously disciplined and fast Seahawks defense that has been difficult for opponents to break down this season. They are #1 against the run, but running backs do get targets out of the backfield against this team. Amit suggests Deebo Samuel play as a wingback and be used as an RB now and then to exploit this opportunity. Names to look out for with the Seahawks defense include Ernest Jones, Uchenna Nwosu, Devon Witherspoon, Leonard Williams and Byron Murphy. The Commanders defense goes against Sam Darnold and this explosive passing attack that the Seahawks possess. WR Jaxson Smith-Njigba leads the NFL in receiving yards and is an explosive player each time he touches the ball. The Seahawks commit to running the ball to sustain drives and slow the game down. The Commanders are home underdogs by 3 points and the over-under is 48.5 points. How does Cam feel about the current state of College football and head coaches? :30- Sadly, the day has come for the final ABCs of the 2026 Mariners season. - Y is for Year-in-Review: No one should feel satisfied with the 2025 Mariners, but that doesn't mean it wasn't a successful season, just like Nathan Bishop said. - Z is for zzzzzzs as we get ready to hibernate for winter and await the offseason moves and gear up for 2026. :45- The Seahawks secondary will be reunited for the first time since the season started and it feels so good! Headlines and 12th Man News with GREGG BELL (Tacoma News Tribune) The Seahawks lost a shootout at home to the Buccaneers, so it begs the question; what has happened to this Seahawks defense? Did injuries play too big of a role in the loss? Sam Darnold and Baker Mayfield put on a show! :30- The Mariners spilt games 1 and 2 with Detroit and while the split didn't go how we thought it would, we will take the end result. Manager Dan Wilson was left to make a decision on Saturday and left George Kirby in the face Kerry Carpenter on his 3rd at-bat. That didn't go well for the Mariners, so when he faced the same situation on Sunday, he wasn't going to make the same mistake twice and it paid off. :35- Ashley makes her fact or fiction pick and she's been on a downward slide lately (thanks to a Push). Can she right the ship? :45- ABCs of the Mariners - H is for Homers: where would we be without Jorge Polanco's home runs? Is this really a “measuring stick” game for the Seahawks? We discuss whether beating the Bucs would finally get the national media to take Seattle seriously, or if they'll still have something to prove with a win. Both teams have had some shaky performances against questionable teams, at the same time they both seem to be playoff caliber team. How is that possible? The Bucs are banged up, missing key players like Jamel Dean, Mike Evans, and Bucky Irving, while the Seahawks are dealing with their own absences on defense. Things to watch! Can the Seahawks finally find some rhythm in the run game, or will the Bucs' run defense shut them down? Targeting the Bucs linebackers in coverage could be the key to unlocking the passing game. Will Seattle's 64% red zone scoring rate be the difference-maker? Could this be the breakout game for Derrick Hall? Nick Emmanwori is back and Ty Okada will fill in for Julian Love. How will the Seahawks approach the secondary with Derion Kendrick also filling in for Devon Witherspoon? Closing the show, Adam takes aim at Shedeur Sanders for his media antics, while Brandan calls out Rams fans for their complaints following the loss to the Niners. Better at Life honors go to Daisy Foko Granson gets a nod for her innovation in ACL recovery and Bijan Robinson is celebrated for his work to improve childhood literacy in Atlanta. The Seattle Seahawks secured a 23-20 victory over the New England Patriots, pushing them to the top of the NFC West. This week, we get into the key moments that defined the game, breaking down Geno Smith's exceptional day and the defensive plays that turned the tide in the Seahawks' favor. Geno put on a show, completing 33 of 44 passes for 327 yards and a touchdown, and receivers DK Metcalf and Jaxon Smith-Njigba also had strong performances and DK's 56-yard touchdown standing out as one of the game's biggest highlights. Ryan Grubb's scheme opened up opportunities for JSN throughout the game, which helped offset a lack of a dominant running game. We discuss whether or not this was a one-time thing, or if we're starting to trend toward a full-on passing offense when Ken Walker isn't in the backfield. Defensively, the Seahawks racked up 21 total pressures and three sacks. Boye Mafe, Leonard Williams and Byron Murphy were disrupting the Patriots' offense, while Julian Love's key block of a field goal attempt and his work in run support helped the Seahawks stay in the game. Special teams also came up big, with Jason Myers knocking through three crucial field goals and Dee Williams delivering a strong punt return. The Miami Dolphins are up next. Can Skylar Thompson take over for Tua and be the backup quarterback that ends up delivering the type of performance that Seahawks fans dread? It's going to be another big test for the Seahawks to stop De'Von Achane who could be catching a lot of short passes out of the backfield. In the second half of the show, we celebrate the Seahawks atop the division with the 49ers falling to the Minnesota Vikings and the Rams falling to the cellar in the NFC West. DK, JSN, and Geno did most of the heavy lifting on offense this Sunday. We had a case of the dropsies, couldn't run the ball effectively, but we got the big stops when we needed and our Seahawks exited Foxboro with a 23-20 W to go to 2-0 on the early season. On the defensive side, the Seahawks had a mixed day. While they struggled to contain the Patriots' run game, they excelled with the pass rush and limited the Patriots' passing attack. Hunter Henry was a thorn in their side early on, but the Seahawks' secondary, led by Riq Woolen and Devon Witherspoon, held strong against the Patriots' wide receivers. Julian Love came up big on multiple occasions. Not only did he block a field goal, he was responsible for some big tackles in the secondary. New Head Coach Mike Macdonald didn't have to wait long to get his first regular season victory taking down Sean Payton and the Denver Broncos in the home opener. Offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb's halftime adjustments led to a more aggressive ground game and helped set up a more successful passing attack. Interceptions by Julian Love and Riq Woolen rattled rookie Box Nix and helped play key roles in the win. Looking ahead to the matchup against the New England Patriots, stopping their run game will be a priority. DK Metcalf faces another tough matchup lining up across from Christian Gonzalez. But the Seahawks secondary should dominate once again against a questionable Patriots receiving group. In the second half of the show, we take a look at the performance of the Rams and the 49ers. Despite sustaining multiple injuries on the offensive line and at wide receiver, the Rams still managed to take the game to overtime. Reach out to us via social media, getintheflock.com or our Discord as we head out to Boston for the matchup this week.
