Demond Martin is an investor, philanthropist, and CEO of WellWithAll, a health and wellness company committed to closing gaps in care by reinvesting profits into underserved communities. As a leader shaped by experiences ranging from the White House to Wall Street, Demond uses his platform to champion a powerful idea: that the relationships we build ultimately shape the lives we live. Today, Demond shares how a childhood marked by instability and hardship became the foundation for a life of purpose, how mentors and "second fathers" helped him see a future beyond his circumstances, and how the concept of "friends of the good" has guided his journey from surviving to serving. He reflects on the power of vulnerability, the responsibility we have to give back, and why true friendship is one of the most overlooked forces behind success. My friends, if you've ever wondered how the people in your life are shaping your future, this conversation is for you. You'll leave reminded that no one succeeds alone, that your story is still being written, and that the right relationships can lift you higher than you ever imagined.

On A Bowl of Soul we celebrate February is Black History Month. Before the entire month of February was called Black History Month, in 1926, the second week of February was called Negro History Week, by the Father of Black History, Carter G. Woodson who founded the Association for the study of African American Life and History. We celebrate Black History with some Classic Soul and New R&B from Maggie Ray and Jill Scott. Also, we celebrate our new ancestors, Richard Smallwood and Demond Wilson who passed away in January. We also celebrate the life of Claudette Colvin who on March 2, 1955, was arrested at the age of 15 in Montgomery, Alabama, for refusing to give up her seat to a white woman on a crowded, segregated bus which sparked the Montgomery Bus Boycott. No question about it; the news of UW quarterback Demond Williams Jr to the transfer portal hit the college football world like a ton of bricks. It was unexpected and it will have ripple effects not just for Washington, but the college football world moving forward. We haven't seen it often, but it's going to happen more and more That sounds a bit hyperbolic, but that's how the Dawgman guys - Chris Fetters and Scott Eklund - see it. After getting their initial thoughts out on the news, how unexpected it was and the reaction not just from them but from sources in and around the UW program, they talk about next steps and what this means not just for Williams, but for UW Head Coach Jedd Fisch. Whether you thought the careers of Williams and Fisch were tied together for the 2026 season, you were likely wrong. With Black Monday creating a lot of NFL Head Coaching opportunities, does that mean Fisch will now be looking to leave UW too? Or does it mean Fisch now has the ability to attract another high-level quarterback, someone with the same potential as Williams? And with ESPN's Pete Thamel reporting UW will use every available remedy to make sure Williams abides by the contract he just signed days ago, how can Demond ever come back to Montlake now? It sounds like the Big Ten Conference is getting involved too. On the outside, it feels like bridges are being burned by the hour. And lastly, what does this mean for UW now that they have a quarterback opening on their roster? Will the QB transfer dominoes reset? With this news, will other quarterbacks start looking seriously at Washington as a destination? And who could those quarterbacks be? Take everything said on the podcast with a grain of salt; this story is still very warm and continues to develop sidebars. It could very well be that some of the information talked about has already changed in a matter of hours. It's just beginning, so it's hard not to jump to some assumptions or conclusions based on the cursory evidence out there in the public eye.
