Day nine of Connor's Cut. Three hundred and six pounds. Same as yesterday. This is the moment most people walk away from transformation. Not on the day the number goes up. On the day it refuses to move. Because a stall after nine days of doing everything right feels like the effort is pointless. But the effort is working. The addiction just wants you to believe it is not. The journal Addiction published a 2026 study from the University of Michigan examining ultra-processed food addiction in a nationally representative sample of over 2,000 adults aged 50-80. Adults between 50 and 64 had nearly twice the rate of ultra-processed food addiction compared to adults 65-80. The reason is developmental timing. The younger group were teenagers during the late 1970s and 1980s when ultra-processed foods flooded the American food supply, hitting them during the critical window for addiction vulnerability. A separate editorial in the same journal compared the ultra-processed food industry directly to tobacco. Deny the evidence. Claim the science is unsettled. Meanwhile nearly 300 studies across 36 countries document that these foods trigger cravings, loss of control, and continued use despite consequences, meeting the clinical criteria for substance use disorder. The FDA and NIH launched a joint initiative modeled after the Tobacco Regulatory Science Program. Food addiction is unlike every other addiction because you cannot quit the substance. You eat three times a day. Every meal is controlled exposure. There is no cold turkey. That is what makes it the last addiction. Connor's Cut: Day 1 317.2 lbs to a target of 265 lbs by May 17. I Gained Weight on Day 7. Here's Why I Didn't Quit. (Food Addiction is REAL)Connor's Cut | Day 7 | 311.6 lbs | The Addiction Nobody TreatsDay 7. I gained a tenth of a pound. And I did not eat my way through the disappointment. That is the win today. This episode is different. This is not a diet show. This is not about macros or meal plans or what time to eat. This is about addiction. Real addiction. The kind that uses the same neural pathways as cocaine, gambling, alcohol, and nicotine. The kind with the same triggers, the same shame, the same relapse cycles, the same compulsive behavior loops.Except nobody treats it. Nobody funds it. Nobody even calls it what it is.Food addiction is the hardest addiction on Earth because you cannot quit the substance. You have to eat to survive. Every single day, multiple times a day, you have to interact with the thing that is destroying you. Imagine telling an alcoholic they have to walk into a bar three times a day, take two sips, and stop. That is what food addiction recovery looks like.In this episode I break down five evidence-based strategies from the best rehab clinics in the world and show how they apply directly to food addiction:1. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT): Catching the thought before it becomes the behavior. Rewiring the sequence of thought, feeling, action. Not willpower. Willpower drains. This is structural change.2. Motivational Interviewing: Resolving the war between the voice that wants to change and the voice that wants to stay comfortable. Asking the questions that make you face what your life looks like if nothing changes.3. Environmental Restructuring: Community reinforcement. Redesigning your physical environment to support recovery instead of sabotage it. The food in your house, the routes you drive, the people at your table.4. Relapse Prevention (Marlatt Model): Mapping high risk situations before they happen. Building response plans for every trigger. Stress, boredom, conflict, celebration. You plan the response before the trigger arrives.5. Accountability and Community: The 12 step principle. Showing up, telling the truth, listening to others tell their truth. Dissolving shame through shared experience. The food companies spent billions engineering the bliss point. The exact combination of sugar, salt, fat, and texture that overrides your brain's ability to say stop. They optimized for it. They hired scientists to find it. The purpose of that food is not to nourish you. It is to keep you buying it.Youtube Channels:Conner with Honor - real estateHome Muscle - fat torchingFrom first responder to real estate expert, Connor with Honor brings honesty and integrity to your Santa Clarita home buying or selling journey. I ate pizza last night. Bread bites. The whole thing. And right now, while I'm recording this episode, I'm thinking about donuts. That's how powerful the saboteur is. It doesn't take a day off. It doesn't feel guilty. It woke up before I did and started working. This episode breaks down the four stages of every relapse: The Seed, The Negotiation, The Act, and The Morning After. I walk you through exactly how a single conversation planted a trigger I didn't even recognize until I was opening the Domino's app hours later. How "one last time" is not a decision but a eulogy for your discipline. And why the morning after is the only stage that actually matters.I stepped on the scale at 5:27 AM. 306.4 pounds. Up five from yesterday. I took shirtless photos from every angle. No flexing. No good lighting. The photos that hurt. Because the protocol doesn't say document it when it's going well. The protocol says document it. Period. If you've ever blown your diet, broken your fast, or caved to the thing you swore you were done with, this episode is for you. Not because I have some magic answer. But because I did the exact same thing last night, and I'm still standing here today choosing to continue. One bad night does not define a transformation. Unless you let it.The saboteur already got last night. It doesn't get today too.Connor MacIvor | Connor's Cut Day 5 | TheLastAddiction.comYoutube Channels:Conner with Honor - real estateHome Muscle - fat torchingFrom first responder to real estate expert, Connor with Honor brings honesty and integrity to your Santa Clarita home buying or selling journey.
