Jeff Platt found poker during the Moneymaker boom, but it was more than a decade before he could work it into his career. The Dallas, Texas native graduated from the University of Southern California with a degree in broadcast journalism, and scored his first gig working the sports desk at a Jackson, Mississippi news station.  He then took a job with ESPN covering his hometown Dallas Mavericks of the NBA, and followed that up with a gig reporting on the San Antonio Spurs. He decided to take a shot in 2018, moving to Las Vegas for a chance at combining his two loves. It wasn't long before he got his chance on PokerGO with shows like Friday Night Poker and The Big Blind, while working events like the WSOP, SHRB, U.S. Poker Open, and Poker Masters. Platt is now the co-host of No Gamble, No Future, alongside Brent Hanks, which airs every Tuesday on PokerGO, with past episodes available on demand.As a player, Platt has also found success. He made consecutive deep runs in the WSOP main event, and last year finished fourth in the Double Stack event for $160,000. This is the spot I want to talk about. It’s a spot where I flat almost 100% of the time, and I plan to continue big on turns that aren’t death such as 5d, 7d, 9d. But Mateos shoves. Is this purely an ICM move? What should Adams be calling with here? Is this a better play than flatting? Is this a flat in different spots, but not here? Or is this potentially a mistake? (IRL, Adams calls with Kd10d and spikes a K on the river). MTT Coach Gareth James and Peak Performance Consultant Dr. Tricia Cardner spend Episode 44 discussing Gareth’s recent runs in SCOOP (and other assorted online poker festivals) while he was in residence at a grind house with a few other players. They also discussed the recent Super High Roll Bowl where Daniel Negreanu started out with a strong focus, even as Doug Polk attempted to troll him (and Gareth explained the backstory of the feud which led to said trolling). Sadly, his focus seemed to wane at the final table and may have contributed to his 2nd place finish. We also analyzed Phil Hellmuth’s strategy for a bit. In Episode 18 Brian Rast becomes the first two time guest of The Mindset Advantage Podcast. In Episode 11 he discussed his plans for the 2015 summer in Vegas including WSOP events, high stakes cash games, and playing the $500,000 Super High Roller Bowl (SHRB). His summer was a smashing success, as he won a $500,000 SHRB seat in a $25k satellite, had a winning summer in cash games and won the SHRB for $7,525,000. The SHRB win gave Brain his 4th 7 figure score, and moved him up to 11th on the all-time money list.  In this interview we recap his fantastic summer, and learn exactly what work he did on his mental game to help him achieve these results.
