He led the Raiders to the Superbowl for the 2002 season. Rich went to the Pro-Bowl four times and was the Most Valuable Player in 2002. Following his playing days, Rich moved to the booth and excelled as a broadcaster for “NFL on CBS” for 17 seasons. He is happily still around football, broadcasting on SiriusXM NFL Radio. Since football and broadcasting has dominated Rich's life, he was asked how he finds time for God and family. Rich quickly replied, “If something is important to you, you'll find time for it.” Rich attributes his success to his Catholic upbringing in a large, devoted family. Rich talks about how his faith had a positive impact in his personal and professional life. In the NFL, Rich was happy to find faith throughout the organization. With his success and accolades, Rich's faith keeps him grounded. He is excited about the recent election of Pope Leo XIV and hopes this event invigorates the Church, especially young people. Rich talks about the importance of parents as role models in the faith of their children. He challenges us all to pray for young people to return to the Church. Send us a Text Message. The New York Giants brought in free agent guard Greg Van Roten for a visit, as reported by Jeremy Fowler of ESPN. Van Roten, who played for offensive line coach Carmen Bricillo last year with the Raiders, started all 17 games, allowed five sacks (the ninth most in the NFL), and logged a 75.3 PFF grade. An undrafted free agent from UPenn, Van Roten has also played for the Packers, Seahawks, Jaguars, Jets, Bills, and the CFL's Toronto Argonauts. At 34 years old, he could fit in as a veteran familiar with Bricillo's system or as a potential starter, moving Eluemunor back to right tackle and himself to right guard, positions they played together last year in Las Vegas. This would allow Jon Runyan Jr. to return to his preferred left guard spot.Darren Waller recently defended Daniel Jones against critics on SiriusXM NFL Radio, expressing excitement for Jones to get another opportunity. Waller argued that Jones gets a bad reputation, noting his strong performance in 2022 and the tough circumstances he faced in 2023, including poor offensive line protection. Waller believes Jones is a talented and athletic player who can shine again if given proper support, adding that Jones is motivated and ready to lead.Darius Slayton, while on the All Facts No Brakes Podcast with Keyshawn Johnson, hinted that he sensed Darren Waller might retire during last season. Slayton often teased Waller, asking for "one more year," but Waller frequently expressed doubt about having it in him, suggesting to Slayton that he was nearing the end of his career. There is speculation that Joe Schoen did not want Saquon Barkley on the Giants in 2024. In an interview snippet released on the "Scoop City Podcast," Barkley revealed he believed it was over after a particular phone call and felt the Giants were not willing to match his value. Schoen's hypothetical offer to Barkley was a 3-year deal worth $37.5 million with $25 million guaranteed, while the Eagles offered Barkley $37.8 million with $26 million guaranteed. Despite increasing offers to ensure other players like Jon Runyan Jr., Jermain Eleumenor, and Drew Lock stayed away from rival teams, Schoen did not match the Eagles' offer for Barkley, raising questions about his intentions. The Giants have the sixth most expensive offense in the NFL, according to Warren Sharp on Twitter. Their top ten ranking includes the Browns, Rams, Chiefs, Cowboys, Falcons, Giants, Colts, 49ers, Panthers, and Bengals. Cap numbers from Spotrac show Daniel Jones with a cap hit of $47.855 million and Andrew Thomas at $23.263 million, together accounting for almost 28% of the team's cap space. The next highest on offense is Darius Slayton at $7.75 million. On defense, the highest cap hits are Brian Burns ($15.5 million), Dexter Lawrence ($14.5 million), and Bobby Okereke ($11.2 million).Kristopher Knox of Bleacher Report suggested that the Giants might consider trading for Taylor Heinicke. Michael Strahan's daughter Isabella announced she is cancer-free on her YouTube channel on July 18, following clear scans. Pro Football Focus ranked Joe Judge as the sixth worst head coaching hire in NFL history. Judge's tenure with the Giants was marred by a 10-23 record and a particularly infamous play during his final game in 2021. Notably, Theo Johnson was absent from the event. The Giants' "Helmet Catch" was named the franchise's best play during the "Nights with Legends" event celebrating their 100th season.ESPN's Aaron Schatz suggested that the Giants should sign defensive lineman Lawrence Guy to address their defensive depth. In an interview with SiriusXM NFL Radio, Pugh stated that Jones must prove he is worth his $47 million cap hit. Pugh highlighted Jones' efforts in OTAs and his need to perform well, especially with the Giants having an out after this season.Pro Football Focus ranked the Giants' receivers as one of the worst in the NFL, placing them 28th. The performance of rookie Malik Nabers is crucial, and the loss of Saquon Barkley and Darren Waller has negatively impacted the team's outlook. The additions of Nabers and Theo Johnson provide some hope, but there are concerns about the downgrade from Barkley to Devin Singletary.SI's Connor Orr made a bold prediction that Drew Lock could end the season as the Giants' starting quarterback. If Daniel Jones struggles, Orr believes Lock could take over, especially given Jones' injury history and inconsistent performance last season.CBS Sports' Cody Benjamin listed Brian Daboll on the hot seat, despite his Coach of the Year win in 2022. Daboll's challenge is to revive Daniel Jones' performance and secure commitment from a team that has not had coaching stability since Tom Coughlin.Former Giants center Greg Larson passed away. A sixth-round pick out of Minnesota in 1961, Larson spent 13 seasons with the Giants, appearing in 179 games and starting 153.
