Rosalie in Paris Get your little berets and stinky cheeses ready for the latest PYAG. Comedian and actor Paul Palmeri joins Matt and Vince to talk about the Frenchest episode of The Sopranos, season 6A episode eleven, “Cold Stones.” Paul, a self-described AJ-type, is a fitting guest for this AJ-heavy episode. After he gets fired from Blockbuster for loving the environment too much to let the promotional standees go unsold, Tony gets AJ a construction job. Framed as consequences for his poor decision making, Paul encourages AJ, and anyone listening, to cherish the opportunity to work outside and build things. Working inside and sending emails all day might not be physically demanding, but it will erode your soul in a way that young AJ will never understand. Imagine AJ in a conference room trying to learn scrum methodology or lean principles. Best case scenario: he's a better project manager for a suicide attempt. As much as all the dumb guys running this podcast love our dumb guy king AJ, this is a Rosalie Aprile episode. She's in Paris showing the rest of us how to do a vacation. Get hit on by a hot young French person, buy some stuff, don't poop, light a couple candles, and if your friend Carmela tries to kill the vibe by bringing up old trauma, kindly but firmly instruct her to shut the f*ck up. This is Paris, not therapy, you stunad. Eat a croissant and take some pictures you'll never think about again. Leave dead family members where they belong — New Jersey's Belleville. Dragon on the Couch: The Dragon kept the John Carpenter theme going and watched Escape from New York (HBO), The Thing (Starz), and Christine (Starz) and loved all three. The Thing is one of the best movies period. Escape from New York made her want to be Snake Pliskin when she grows up, and Christine made her remember that a King adaptation in the right hands can be pretty good. Berto on the Bed: Berto and the Dragon saw Candyman (theatres), both overall enjoyed the film, but felt there were parts that lost them, especially in the third act. Berto went to the movies again and saw Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings (Theatres) and also really liked it, especially the action sequences in the beginning of the movie. His only gripe was the very end. Finally, Berto also watched The Old Ways (Netflix), which he thought was a solid horror movie.  Dragon at the Movies: This week's deep dive was the 2019 horror comedy Little Monsters, currently streaming on Hulu.

In this episode, part two of our trilogy devoted to Kurt Russell, we talk about another John Carpenter film, the action classic from 1981, Escape from New York. Russell plays the legendary character, Snake Pliskin, who became a cult figure and eventually Russell reunited with Carpenter for the sequel. In this film Carpenter has again not only directed the film but given it his own unique stamp, scoring the music as well. There is also a long list of very famous names in this film from Ernest Borgnine to Harry Dean Stanton, Adrienne Barbeau to Donald Pleasence playing the President of the United States. At the end of the episode we announce what the third film in our Russellology is going to be. Also mentioned in the podcast this episode was Archie vs. Predator comic. More info is available here.
