He pasado este año por todos los estados de ánimo posibles en una temporada. El último, antes de la serie contra Cleveland, era de expectativa y ciertamente de esperanza en que daríamos el esperado salto de calidad. No en balde, el año pasado les habíamos ganado la serie a los Indios por 5 juegos a 1. Terminado el juego del domingo, difícilmente podemos siquiera pensar que el wild card aún está en juego. Nos ponemos la mano en el corazón y ahora sí es verdad que nos despedimos de la temporada. ¿Que ganamos 6 juegos en fila y nos ponemos a tiro? Muy complicado. Yo creo que más bien deberíamos pensar o soñar en que los Orioles harán un nuevo contrato a Manny Machado para que se convierta junto a Adam Jones y Jonathan Schoop en hombres franquicia. Hacer una buena oferta por Tim Beckham daría pie a la ilusión, lo mismo que conseguir tres brazos de calidad reconocida, que generen expectativa con respecto al 2018 y que hagan ilusionar a nuestros jugadores en el campo, que muchas veces se ve que se aburren viendo como nuestros pitchers dan un boleto tras otro para luego ver como sale despedida la bola hacia lo profundo del parque.

Tim Beckham marcó un hito en su corto tiempo en los Orioles: El HR que puso el juego 4-2 en el final del 8º fue el número 10000 de la historia de los Orioles. Ya se había convertido en el primer jugador de los Orioles en pegar 11 hits en sus primeros 4 juegos y su promedio es un escándalo en estos primeros 6 juegos. De 23-14 para un estratosférico 608 de average. Estaba en Tampa Bay y ha comentado el coach de bateo que al parecer en el Tropicana Field su swing era más largo y al llegar a Baltimore lo ha hecho más corto, con lo que ha ganado en acierto para chocarla pues no se trata de darle muy duro aquí, sino de darle bien. Necesitaba más poder en Tampa para poder llevarla a lo profundo del outfield.
