Today David Waldman welcomes the distinguished Ian Reifowitz, author of Riling Up the Base: Examining Trump's Use of Stereotypes through an Interdisciplinary Lens, to connect the dots interdisciplinarily between Donald K. Trump riling up his base and the stuff we're presently going through. Trump will certainly receive his long sought-after Pulitzer Prize after scooping the entire lamestream media to report that his boy Kash Patel finally caught his man, with some assistance from Matt Robinson, a 27-year veteran of the Washington County Sheriff's Department and father of the alleged shooter Tyler Robinson… Yep, cis, white, Christian, Republican, gun nut, Trump fan Tyler Robinson… Here we all were thinking that we witnessed a political assassination, when it kind of looks like Charlie Kirk might have just shot himself. Let's learn more about guns! Slap that like! Pity the poor Gops and Trump who required a Horst Wessel to carry them into the midterms. Oh well, back to that Ukranian girl. Meanwhile, South Koreans rejoice to see Korean political prisoners escape American clutches. And Brazilians dance in the streets even more than usual to see their democracy hold strong. Marco Rubio vows revenge. Remember, that's Riling Up the Base: Examining Trump's Use of Stereotypes through an Interdisciplinary Lens, with a live Q&A and book signing this September 30 at Barnes & Noble at 1550 3rd Avenue in Manhattan! Meet the Author, Ian Reifowitz, and mention my name for a free soft drink refill!
A very somber episode 201 this week. This week has been an absolute week from hell. First the murder of a 23yo Ukranian refugee, Iryna Zarutska, at the hands of a 14 time convicted man. As if that wasn't enough, Charlie Kirk was assassinated on Wednesday (the day we recorded). Tune in, mourn with us, get angry with us, pray with us. LINKS We have RELAUNCHED our store! Charlie Kirk was assassinated, likely for exercising his freedom of speech and for promoting respectful discourse and the debate of conflicting views and opinions. We are gutted by this, as three people who respected his faith, his courage, and his willingness to debate openly and respectfully. But that's not the only pivtotal thing happening this week. From the national exposure of the murder of the Ukranian refugee on the train in Charlotte to the senate testimony by Aaron Siri regarding the study on the childhood vaccination outcomes this week, there is a lot to being paying attention to, praying about and fighting for right now. And we wanted to talk about it and invite you into the conversation.
A psycho train stabber & career criminal speaks from jail; his twisted confession of why he butchered a stranger, a Ukranian refugee, in a random attack - is heard in a disturbing phone call with his sister. A motel boss is beheaded in a brutal machete attack...after telling his co-worker not to use a broken washing machine. Plus, a gridiron gathering turns fatal. Jennifer Gould reports. The Path to KOLs--Ukranian Episode: Шлях до KOL: Наука, Лідерство та Сила Малих Кроків (The Path to KOL: Science, Leadership, and the Power of Small Steps)--До кожного, хто переживає складний період: пам'ятайте, що тіні є доказом існування світла. When the path ahead is unclear and the weight of the world feels heavy, hold on to the quiet strength that resides within you.As Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. reminded us, "Faith is taking the first step even when you don't see the whole staircase." Your journey is not about seeing the end from the beginning, but about bravely taking that next step. In moments of trial, we often find our greatest opportunities. Welcome to The Path to KOL, the student-led podcast empowering clinical pharmacy students, residency aspirants & rising clinicians. Each episode features global thought leaders—Chancellor Gary May; Dr Robert Langer; Greg Zuckerman (The Wall Street Journal); Kyle Woumn (Forbes 30 Under 30)—sharing insights on breakthrough research, leadership, innovation & purpose-driven pharmacy careers.Let the challenges you face fuel your resolve. As St. Augustine wrote, "Hope has two beautiful daughters; their names are Anger and Courage. Anger at the way things are, and Courage to see that they do not remain as they are." It's been more than three years since Russia invaded Ukraine. In this episode of the All Things Sustainable podcast, we're exploring how the conflict has prompted some businesses in Ukraine to lean in to sustainability. We'll also hear about companies' strategies to protect workers and address mental health challenges stemming from the war. We talk with Tetiana Sakharuk, Executive Director of UN Global Compact Ukraine, about how the sustainability landscape is changing in Ukraine and how the UN Global Compact network is helping companies integrate sustainability into their operations — through training and accelerator programs, by connecting them with international investors and grant opportunities, and by setting up an online platform to support employees needing psychological help amid the war. UN Global Compact Ukraine is a country-level network of the UN Global Compact (UNGC). The UNGC is a voluntary corporate sustainability initiative involving more than 20,000 companies across 160 countries. Participating companies commit to operate responsibly in line with sustainability principles on human rights, labor, environment and anti-corruption, and to support the UN's 17 Sustainable Development Goals. In an interview on the sidelines of an event hosted by the UN Global Compact Mexico in June, Tetiana said Ukranian companies see sustainability as a way to attract investors and ensure the long-term viability of their businesses. She shares how Ukrainian companies are rebuilding critical infrastructure like energy and removing mines from farmland. And she explains how some companies are supporting the health and wellbeing of their employees and communities. Orthodoxy and Orthopraxis (right belief and right practice) are intimately tied together. All of the fathers and, in particular, Saint Isaac the Syrian want us to understand that our perception of revelation, who God is to us and what we have become in his Son through the Paschal mystery, and how we live our life are inseparable. God has revealed himself to us in a unique and distinctive fashion, and has made known to us our dignity and destiny in Christ. Therefore, having a clear understanding of our human nature, the sickness of sin and the passions that follow and the healing that takes place through Grace is imperative. Isaac pushes us to understand that virtue is the natural health of the soul and the passions are an illness of the soul that follow and invade our nature and despoil its proper health. One can see how essential this is when looking at our life in this world and the struggles of the spiritual life. We can attribute sin and the hold that passions have upon us simply to human nature. However, when we do this, we lose sight of the fact that we have been created in the image and likeness of God and that sin is antecedent to that reality. We have been created for love and to manifest this love through virtue. A faulty or incomplete understanding of human anthropology and psychology, has often been the pretext that the Evil One uses to distort our vision to the point that we willingly embrace that which enslaves us. To understand that we have been created good, conversely, establishes a firm desire within the human heart for that which is of God. It also establishes confidence and hope in the grace of God who tells us precisely that he has come not to judge the world but to save it! One of the beautiful things that the desert fathers would have us understand is that Christ is the divine physician who has come to heal us. He is the Good Samaritan from the gospel who takes our burden upon himself in order that we might be nursed to the fullness of health. Again, if Isaac makes us work to understand this, we must see it as a labor of love. To grasp these truths allows us to give free expression to our desire for God and to run towards Him with the freedom of those aided by His Grace. --- Text of chat during the group: 00:01:52 Fr. Charbel Abernethy: Page 128 paragraph 6 00:10:40 Anthony: I just read that there is a "Holy Transfiguration East" in Burnsville, NC. 00:11:43 Anthony: Gotcha thanks 00:26:20 Joshua Sander: I've missed the last couple of weeks, and so you may have already explained this, but when Isaac uses the term "passions," what exactly does he mean? I've heard the term used roughly in the sense of "emotions" (i.e. anger, sadness, etc.), but does Isaac mean it more in the sense of "temptations"? I think you may have just explained this now, but in that case, could you briefly restate this? 00:30:04 Suzanne Romano: Does Isaac distinguish between original nature and fallen nature? 00:33:15 David: I found this helpful from Fr. While they use the same word in translation it helped me to realize the different stages in context. 00:37:23 Myles Davidson: Reacted to "I found this helpful..." with

Donald Trump's physical results have left many people scratching their heads, as the doctor said that he is in perfect health in every possible way. But when you actually look at the report, it becomes obvious that Trump is a man that is on borrowed time, as the medications that he's taking are likely preventing a massive health event that could be his last. Donald Trump had an absolutely unhinged meltdown watching 60 Minutes on CBS on Sunday evening, and he demanded that the network lose their license. What set him off was the fact that the program did an interview with Ukranian president Volodymyr Zelensky, as well as a segment about Greenland not wanting to be part of the United States. Trump couldn't take it, so he got on Truth Social and proved to the world that he's a fascist dictator. A recent segment on MSNBC suggested that the United States is going to be the next entity that Donald Trump sends into bankruptcy. That could definitely happen, and if you look at his business track record it should have been completely expected. Trump has more failed businesses and bankruptcies than most people realize, and it is only natural that he would bring that same failed mentality to the White House. According to new reports, the people inside of Donald Trump's White House are just as confused as the rest of the public about what he is doing and why he is doing it. Insiders have admitted that they don't even know what his "endgame" is at this point with his economic policies, and that's a bad sign. If they don't know why he is doing what he's doing, then neither does he, because he is always very vocal about everything.Text and and let us know your thoughts on today's stories!Subscribe to our YouTube channel to stay up to date on all of Farron's content: https://www.youtube.com/FarronBalancedFollow Farron on social media!
