The plan, which amounts to almost 50% of Ørsted's market cap, is a desperation move driven by the forces of reality and President Donald Trump's no-nonsense energy policies. Ørsted's stock took a nosedive in the wake of Monday's announcement, cratering as much as 31.2% in Copenhagen trading, erasing billions in value overnight. The panic comes as the company is scrambling to fund its Sunrise Wind project — a 924-megawatt eyesore off New York's coast — and shore up another 8.1 gigawatts of planned capacity through 2027. Ørsted says the cash infusion is a direct response to what it delicately calls “material adverse developments” in the U.S. market. Translated to plain English, this means Ørsted, whose normal business model would have involved selling a large minority share to investors to raise needed capital, has been unable to find any buyers as Trump's energy policy revolution takes hold. That price floor, which is nearly double the current China-based market rate of around $60/kg, aims to incentivize domestic production of the super-strong magnets used in EV motors, wind turbines, and defense systems. Officials and analysts describe the move as a game-changer for the industry. In this episode, I am joined by Congressman Eric Swalwell. We discuss his background, faith, and political journey to Congress. Swalwell shares how he first came to Campbell University (a small Christian school in North Carolina) on a soccer scholarship, where he was the goalkeeper on the soccer team. Though politics wasn't initially on his radar, an injury led him to explore student government, mock trial, and Model UN activities. After interning for a member of Congress, he transferred to the University of Maryland to pursue public service. Throughout the discussion, Swalwell reflects on being a Democrat of faith, noting that many Democrats tend to keep their faith private because they see how religion can be "weaponized" in politics. He expresses a desire for more collaborative cooperation across faith lines rather than using religion as "a means to power." The conversation also touches on polarizing issues like gun control, with Swalwell advocating for an assault weapons ban while preserving Americans' rights to own firearms for protection, sport, and hunting. Customs and Border Protection's Office of Information Technology says it's reviewing the loss of three physical servers, a public records request shows. According to a document produced by CBP's Cybersecurity Directorate, about 200 government devices have been stolen or gone missing in recent years. Of these devices, 140 were cell phones, and just under 40 were laptops. No items were reported to be lost abroad, according to the document. That federal employees would have lost phones and tablets isn't surprising. FedScoop has reported on lost electronics at the U.S. Agency for International Development and NASA, and agencies often review inventories of employee devices. Still, the loss of government-furnished equipment can raise concerns about the security of sensitive data. Some federal employees have even been caught stealing government IT equipment in order to sell it. The loss of three servers is somewhat unusual. The agency did not answer a series of questions about the lost servers, including what data they might have held or whether the losses were ever reported to law enforcement. In response to FedScoop questions, an agency spokesperson said, “CBP is currently reviewing this issue.” The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency must brief Congress on proposed deep cuts to agency personnel, a top Democrat said in a letter to its acting director. California Rep. Eric Swalwell, ranking member of the House Homeland Security Subcommittee on Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Protection, wrote in the letter to acting Director Bridget Bean on Thursday that CISA is obligated to notify Congress of its plans. CISA reportedly plans to cut agency staff by nearly 40%, or 1,300 people. Swallwell wrote in his letter that “upending an agency that plays such an important role in defending the homeland while keeping Congress in the dark is wholly unacceptable,” adding that CISA hasn't provided the subcommittee any justification for the cuts or explained how it will execute its congressionally mandated mission with a fraction of the workforce and resources. A bitter and angry Donald Trump called into Fox & Friends on Wednesday morning to whine about his debate with Kamala Harris the night before, where he got absolutely obliterated by her. But he also made an admission that most of us saw coming - He doesn't know if he wants to do any more debates. He's running scared, and he can't afford to run and hide after such a disastrous performance on Tuesday evening.Also, reporters from Raw Story caught up with Marjorie Taylor Greene this week, where they asked her about reports of Donald Trump's failing mental health. This immediately sent Greene over the edge, and she blasted the media and Democrats for pushing what she says is an "absolute lie" and then accused President Biden of having dementia. Trump's mental problems are not a "lie" from Democrats - they are on full display for the world to see. And Democratic representative Eric Swalwell asked the question that millions of Americans have been dying to get an answer to this week during a tense hearing in the House of Representatives. Swalwell asked Jim Jordan if he was mentally doing ok. This question came about after Swalwell showed an image of a tweet posted by Jordan's Judiciary Committee that featured Donald Trump holding a kitten and a duck in reference to the repeatedly-debunked conspiracy theory that immigrants are eating people's pets. Finally, Lara Trump, Donald's daughter-in-law and co-chair of the RNC, appeared on CNN this week opposite host Kasie Hunt, where Lara was asked about Trump's false claims of fraud with mail-in ballots in the 2020 election.
