You’ll also learn about key metrics and cultural tactics for building a member-first team from Mayur Gupta, the CMO of Gannett, and about building a membership bundle from Outside’s Tommy O’Hare (who happens to be a former Olympian). And if your startup is looking for a great story to build traction, listen to my conversation with Chief Storyteller at GoodTrust, Daniel Sieberg Venture investor Ira Ehrenpreis had a lot to share about the power of profit and purpose in creating iconic companies like Tesla, The RealReal and Bellwether coffee. And Rafat Ali, CEO of the Skift talked about the power of subscriptions in travel and hospitality. For those of you who like to nerd out--Season 3 was like a PhD in subscriptions, with several experts on the cutting edge of markets and trends—Wharton Professor and author of the CustomerCentricity Playbook Peter Fader, as well as Harvard Business School’s Marco Bertini, with whom I have had many spirited discussions about pricing for outcomes and his new book The Ends Game, Google’s Chief Measurement Strategegist Neil Hoyne, whose new book Converted is a must-read for any subscription practitioner, Patrick Campbell, founder of Profitwell, who uses data to go deep on customer retention, and my old friend and colleague Bob Baxley, a leading Silicon Valley product designer and educator who has led design teams at Apple, Pinterest and now Thoughtspot. There are interesting similarities between the streets of Iraq, Afghanistan, and Syria and the streets of the South Bronx. This week's Team Never Quit guest is former U.S. Army Master Sergeant., 2-tour veteran, National Guard Paratrooper, and 22 year veteran of the NYPD – Tommy O'Hare. Listen to Tommy's personal experiences and life lessons from his 2 tours of duty in Iraq (Desert Storm), Mogadishu, Somalia, and his cop career on the streets of the South Bronx of New York. This patriot has a myriad of common sense and positivity he shares with Marcus and you. In this episode you will hear: I am the American success story. A child of Irish Immigrants who came to this country on a boat. The [social] environment's always changing, always evolving. You never know what the future holds. You'd better catch up with it, adapt to it, or you'll be left behind. I can be as nice as a British butler, or I can be your worst nightmare. Those same skills I learned in the streets of Brooklyn & the Bronx paid dividends in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Syria. [After 9-11] Who you were, who you voted for – none of that crap mattered. We knew there were people in that building and we had to get them out because that's our job. I was more stressed working the midnight shift in the South Bronx than I was overseas working recognizance 10 miles from the Al Qaeda camp. I know the dangers, but we've got a job to do. We signed up for it. I worked with heroes every day - In the streets of New York and in the streets of Afghanistan. You have moral courage, spiritual courage, and physical courage. The interactions I had with the Iraqis is the same interactions I had with people in the South Bronx. If there is a fight, I'm gonna win. I am undefeated. My mother's advice to me on my first day as a cop was: “Remember to be just.” What right do I have to complain? I have both my legs. I am alive. I've been blessed throughout my career. Don't quit on yourself. I'm not gonna quit on you, Marcus isn't gonna quit on you, God's not gonna quit on you.
In this clip from our Superbowl show, we are chatting to former Munster and Ireland rugby player Tommy O'Donnell. We chat to him about; - His time playing for Munster and Ireland - How he got into American Football - Plus lots more.

Tommy O'Connell, who grew up in what is now O'Sullivan's shop in Skibbereen, Main Street, died in 1935.ArTEEtude is West Cork´s first art, fashion and design podcast created and produced by Detlef Schlich. Schlich operates with his podcast cross-sectorally. For him, a visual artist has to think transversely instead of just enjoying the luxury of being the antagonist. To drive the narrative and to be a protagonist, he will dive and discover with us into the unknown and exciting deep ocean of the creative mind. Detlef Schlich is Podcaster, Visual Artist, Film Maker and Ritual Designer, living and loving in West Cork and best known for his Essay about the Cause and Effect of Shamanism, Art and Digital Culture and the video installation Transodin´s Tragedy. He is mainly working in the field of performance, photography, painting, sound, installations, and film. To research our human condition and create artwork from this reflection he is using often the methodology of the digital shaman as alter ego.WEBSITE LINKSMatt Diener LinksInstagram:@sipstagramFacebook:https://www.facebook.com/matt.diener.1 https://www.facebook.com/bigsipband/Spotify – The big sip: https://open.spotify.com/artist/3mJRzw53C2ZCUgOX4RNlOiInstagramDetlef Schlich ArTEEtude I love West Cork Artists FacebookDetlef Schlich I love West Cork Artists Group ArTEEtudeYou Tube Channelsvisual PodcastArTEEtudeCute Alien TV official WebsiteArTEEtude Detlef Schlich Det Design Tribal Loop Download here for free Detlef Schlich´s Essay about the Cause and Effect of Shamanism, Art and Digital Culturehttps://www.researchgate.net/publication/303749640_Shamanism_Art_and_Digital_Culture_Cause_and_EffectSupport this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/arteetude-a-podcast-with-artists-by-detlef-schlich/donations
