Welcome back to our weekend Cabral HouseCall shows! This is where we answer our community's wellness, weight loss, and anti-aging questions to help people get back on track! Check out today's questions: Sheena: Hi Dr C! Hope you and your team are well. I'm 45 yo and currently on low dose birth control pill to help control the severe perimenopause symptoms I was experiencing. It has REALLY helped which I am thankful for. Obviously I know I cant be on it forever, but the thought of going off and going through all the symptoms is so scary to me. I also know being on the BCP will mask when I'm actually in menopause. Do you have a suggestion as to how I can find out? Is it possible to figure out while on the pill? As instructed by my endocrinologist, I take the pill for 42 day straight, stop for 4 and start again. Could I test my fsh during that 4 Anonymous: Hi Dr. Cabral - I'm hoping you can help me. I keep hearing people say organic doesn't really matter because they're still able to spray the produce with some level of herbicides. Can you help me understand what they could be talking about and confirm that organic is definitely better/ worth the cost? Thanks for all you do! Sierra: Hello Dr. Cabral. My father and four of his kids have chronically low Alk Phos. We have tried supplementing (Zinc, mag, Vit C, DNS, Omegas, etc) for years without any improvement. We are leaning into thinking its a genetic issue (hypophosphotasia). My father has had significant blood calcification, bow legged, bad teeth. Do you have any knowledge on genetically low alk phos, and how to increase our levels or adjust nutrients to help offset issues from low levels of alkphos? We do live fairly healthy, active lives. We do qtrly detoxes, we work to empty our "rain barrel", but is there any other advice you can give us? We would love to figure out how to navigate this. Thank you! day break and be able to tell? Hope this makes sense. Looking forward to your suggestion. Thanks! Adam: Hello, I've noticed during the winter months, I get more symptoms, especially thyroid related issues (dry skin, cold extremities). During the summer, these are substantially less pronounced. I've ran the Stress Mood and Metabolism test (during FEBruary), TSH 2.5, Free T3-3.8, Free T4-1.5, normal cortisol all day, low DHEAS, but are there any specific interventions I can do during the winter months to support my body? Warmer denser foods, different types of exercises, certain supplements etc? Thank you. Desiree: Hi Dr. Cabral, My husband and I are planning to start trying for a baby this June. We are prepping starting now with 3 week detox, followed by heavy metal and parasite detoxes. I will follow that with 3 months of prenatal vitamins. Are there any male specific supplements that improve sperm health and male fertility? Like prenatal supplements but for men. Thanks! Join Our Online Education Community "The School of Doza" Here: https://community.schoolofdoza.com/ In this podcast episode, Nurse Doza discusses the common complaint of fatigue and offers insights into its possible causes. He emphasizes the importance of addressing fatigue, as it should not be a daily occurrence. He also recommends getting blood tests, particularly one for DHEAS, to assess adrenal function and the body's response to stress. He mentions that chronic stress, lack of sleep, and unhealthy lifestyle habits can contribute to fatigue. Nurse Doza encourages listeners to prioritize self-care, including good sleep and stress management, to improve their energy levels and overall health. DHEA is one of the most commonly self-prescribed hormones—and one of the most misunderstood. In this episode of The Health Revival Show, we break down the real difference between DHEA vs DHEA-S, how cortisol patterns impact adrenal health, and why taking DHEA without testing can worsen acne, anxiety, estrogen dominance, and fatigue. We cover when DHEA supplementation actually helps, when it hurts, how stress, under-eating, over-training, menopause, and chronic illness affect adrenal output—and what to fix before reaching for hormones. If you're dealing with fatigue, low libido, stubborn weight gain, hormone imbalance, or burnout… this episode is a must-listen. Discover the five science-backed reasons you're always tired and what to do about it. From adrenal dysfunction and chronic inflammation to nutritional deficiencies, sunlight exposure, and hormone decline—learn how to identify your fatigue triggers and restore your energy naturally with actionable lab work, lifestyle changes, and targeted supplementation. FEATURED PRODUCT Zen, featuring bovine adrenal gland extracts, is designed to support adrenal function and help regulate cortisol levels—the key hormone controlling your stress response, sleep quality, and daily energy. If you're always tired despite getting enough sleep, Zen provides the targeted adrenal support your body needs to restore balanced cortisol production and reclaim the calm, sustained energy you've been missing. Get zen here: https://mswnutrition.com/products/zen 5 KEY TAKEAWAYS Adrenal dysfunction is the primary cause of chronic fatigue - When stress overactivates your adrenal glands for years, cortisol production becomes imbalanced, disrupting sleep and draining energy even after a full night's rest. Chronic inflammation creates debilitating tiredness - Conditions like insulin resistance, autoimmune disorders, liver issues, and chronic pain keep your body in a constant state of metabolic stress that depletes energy reserves. Nutritional deficiencies directly impact energy production - Deficiencies in B vitamins (especially B6, B9, and B12), choline, and vitamin D impair neurotransmitter production and cellular energy, with genetic factors like MTHFR compounding the problem. Morning sunlight is non-negotiable for energy regulation - Just 10-15 minutes of morning sun exposure produces 10,000 IU of vitamin D, increases serotonin and cortisol naturally, and sets your circadian rhythm for better sleep and daytime energy. Hormone decline accelerates fatigue after age 40 - Low testosterone in men and declining estrogen in women contribute significantly to persistent tiredness, but addressing adrenal health should always come before hormone replacement. JOIN THE SCHOOL Recovering from adrenal fatigue requires more than just breathing exercises and supplements—your diet plays a crucial role in cortisol regulation and energy stability. That's why we're launching a 6-week "No Grains. No Sugar." class starting Thursday, January 15th. Eliminating grains and sugar helps stabilize blood sugar, reduce inflammation, and take stress off your adrenal glands—giving them the space they need to recover. Beyond the structured classes, the School of Doza community connects you with others working through their own health transformations. Share what's working (and what's not), get accountability for your 90-day adrenal reset, and have your questions answered during our Wednesday "Ask Me Anything" sessions that function like group consults. Whether you need help interpreting your DHEAS results, troubleshooting your HRV tracking, or figuring out why you're still crashing at 2 PM, the community and weekly sessions give you direct access to guidance and support. Start with a FREE TRIAL and join us for the "No Grains. No Sugar." class to accelerate your adrenal recovery.

New research shows that people with Alzheimer's have higher cortisol levels and a skewed cortisol-to-DHEA-S ratio, revealing that chronic stress drives early brain degeneration long before memory loss appears Cortisol, your body's main stress hormone, damages neurons and disrupts energy metabolism when it stays elevated, while DHEA-S acts as a protective neurosteroid that helps your brain resist inflammation and oxidative stress Bioenergetic researcher Georgi Dinkov connected these findings to thyroid and metabolic health, showing that when your cells don't produce enough energy, cortisol rises and accelerates cognitive decline Tracking your cortisol-to-DHEA-S ratio offers a powerful early warning sign for chronic stress and neurodegeneration, allowing you to take preventive action years before symptoms develop You can rebalance these hormones naturally by fueling your metabolism with adequate healthy carbohydrates, improving sleep and light exposure, reducing overtraining, practicing calming breathwork, and using natural progesterone to help quiet cortisol
