A supply chain expert and engineer hailing from Mexico City, he spent the majority of his career in the United Kingdom at the Cranfield School of Management, before moving to the United States to work at Michigan State University and now PSU. Carlos discusses the many intricacies of supply chain and corporate sustainability; and regales us with tails from his travels abroad.

Jordan didn't know what to expect with her first baby and birth, and at that time, it felt safer to just not know than to have to come to terms with what it could be. Obviously, this changed greatly for Jordan with time, but it really highlights just how stressful the idea of birth can be-- and if we don't even feel safe looking into what's happening, it's no wonder that we would want to consider an elective cesarean. Have someone else do it for me- I don't even want to know. But on to my second point, what power did Jordan exhibit when she realized.... "wait a minute... I'm in control here!" She truly became a force to be reckoned with, and it was amazing to see that sense increase throughout her two subsequent births. Once you realize the smoke and mirrors of the idea that someone else has the power-- not you-- once you realize it's YOUR body and YOUR baby.... you can't unsee that. Jordan certainly never did. I love that Jordan so openly has continued to grow, learn and change. When her midwife recommended some dietary changes that seemed pretty basic, she suddenly had insane improvements in her health-- how incredible is it to see that we sometimes DO have the ability to greatly increase our health with just a few simple changes. This was such an encouraging aspect of Jordan's journey to me. And finally, how wonderful was it to hear all of the supportive people around Jordan. Her husband, her mother-in-law, her midwife, her sister in law-- all of them playing such integral parts in her experience, and she will never forget how these wonderful people treated her during such a special time. Disse atmosfæregassene blir tilført energi fra partiklene og dette ser man som lys: nordlys. Men det er altså lys som kommer hovedsakelig fra atomer og molekyler i atmosfæren, og ikke fra selve solpartiklene. Nordlys er som regel grønt, men det kan også være rødt og blått. Dette går an på energien i solpartiklene og hvilke gasser atmosfæren består av. Nordlyset skjer 80-500 kilometer over jordoverflaten i de delene av atmosfæren som heter mesopausen og termosfæren. Det er ikke alltid nordlys og det er heller ikke alltid nordlyset er like sterkt. Dette blir påvirka av solas aktivitet. Dersom sola sender ut mange partikler, er det også større sannsynlighet for at nordlyset er sterkere og man kan se det i et større område. Grunnen til det er selvsagt at mer partikler betyr mer energi, noe som gjør at de tilfører mer energi til atmosfæren, og vipps så har man nordlys. Grunnen til at nordlys først og fremst forekommer langt nord, er magnetfeltene til jorda. Jorda er som en magnet der det ene punktet er i nord og det andre i sør. Dette er grunnen til at man først og fremst ser nordlys langt nord eller langt sør. I sør kalles det derimot for sørlys. Sjansen for å se nordlys er størst i det vi kaller for nordlysovalen. Det er en oval rundt Nordpolen og Sørpolen der det er størst sjanse for å se nordlys. Grunnen til det er det magnetiske feltet. Partiklene sola sender ut mot jorda treffer det magnetiske feltet. Dette blir ført mot nord og mot sør i to strømmer. Den ene strømmen danner en oval rundt Nordpolen, mens den andre danner en oval rundt Sørpolen. Nordlysovalen går gjennom Midt- og Nord-Norge, Nord-Sverige, Nord-Finland, deler av de nordligste øyene i Russland, Grønland, Island, nordlige Alaska og helt nord i Canada. Dersom du ønsker å se nordlys i Norge er Tromsø en av de beste stedene å gå til.
