On this episode of the Migration Waterfowl podcast, your host Brian Halbleib will be talking with Phil Christian from Ontario, Canada. They discuss Phil's journey into waterfowl hunting, his experiences with the Punisher Waterfowl podcast, and insights into the duck hunting culture in Ontario. They also talk about hunting techniques, preferences, and setup strategies. Phil covers his hunting travels and adventures, including trips to Saskatchewan and Arkansas, and the challenges of waterfowl hunting outside of his local, familiar areas. They discuss the realities of waterfowl hunting, including the challenges and rewards of hunting vacations, reflections on the previous season, and the essential skills needed for success. They talk about the importance of scouting, concealment, and understanding duck behavior across different regions. They also touch on personal hunting experiences, local goose populations, and the journey into using sub-gauges for hunting. They talk about shotgun gauges and some advantages of using a 20 gauge for waterfowl hunting. They discuss the importance of understanding ammunition specifications and the challenges of sourcing ammunition. They also touch on memorable hunting experiences, future plans for hunting, and the importance of conservation efforts that improve waterfowl populations. Takeaways Phil started hunting at the age of seven. He is part of the Punisher Waterfowl podcast. Duck hunting culture in Ontario is unique compared to the U.S. Phil prefers small water duck hunting for its intimacy. He emphasizes the importance of scouting and setup in hunting. Limits don't define a successful hunting day for Phil. He enjoys the camaraderie of hunting trips with friends. Phil uses technology for scouting, including maps and fish finders. He has traveled for hunting in Saskatchewan and Arkansas. Phil values the experience of being outdoors over the number of birds harvested. Hunting vacations can be more work than leisure. Scouting is crucial for successful waterfowl hunting. Concealment and movement are key to fooling birds. Personal experiences shape hunting techniques. Duck behavior varies significantly by region. Local conditions affect goose populations and hunting success. Shooting at close range enhances the hunting experience. Patterning your gun is essential for effective shooting. Sub-gauges can be effective for waterfowl hunting. Understanding local regulations can enhance hunting opportunities. Shooting sub gauges like the 20 gauge offers minimal recoil and faster follow-up shots. Pellet count is crucial in understanding shotgun effectiveness. The availability of ammunition varies significantly between 12 and 20 gauges. Engaging in local conservation efforts can enhance waterfowl populations. Personal experiences in hunting can lead to greater accuracy and success. Starting a local chapter for conservation can foster community involvement. Memorable hunting experiences often involve unique encounters with wildlife. Exploring new hunting spots can lead to exciting discoveries. Sharing knowledge about hunting gear and techniques can benefit others. Building connections within the hunting community enriches the experience. Cities and Memory - remixing the sounds of the world

"Limone e Melone is based on a recording from the Piazza della Cisterna in Sam Gimignano, an idyllic Tuscan hill town with medieval towers, cathedral, and a museum of torture! It was recorded in August 2021. During a Summer afternoon, the Piazza della Cisterna has one particularly conspicuous human feature: a deep queue of locals and tourists eagerly awaiting the delights of the twice world champion Gelateria Dondoli. Gelato is integral to my experiences of Italy in summer. It would be hard to visit the Piazza della Cisterna without being drawn into the gravity of this queue. You can hear the sugar and delight in “pronto” from the girl running in flip flops, in the laughter, and the snippets of a slightly unhinged Welsh accent surprisingly emerging from the cacophony.  "There's something uniquely pleasant about the chaos of Italian noise. This recording captures that abundance of life and joy. Limone e Melone is built from the voices of the Italians and the Welsh visitor, along with less identifiable sources. The track is built entirely from the field recording - used to create all the percussion, instruments, and the less-altered vocals. I'd like to think this is both the sounds of the site and the sounds of the taste of the site, given how integral the Gelateria is to the plaza, to Italian Summer culture, and to my own very fond recollection of the place.  "Limone e Melone was created entirely in AUM on the iPad, using StepPolyArp sequencers, Koala samplers, Patterning 3 for percussion, Spacecraft and Borderlands for granular synthesis, and many AU effects (including most of the Toneboosters and FAC suites). It was arranged with Loopy Pro, MIDIMixer for AUM and Patterning 3." A @Christadelphians Video: Description: King Manasseh was a king who set about hating God and trying to fight against Him and His prophecies. He brought great evil and idolatry into the nation of Judah. Despite this, God still worked with him. He caused the Assyrians to take Manasseh captive to the city of Babylon. While Manasseh was in prison, he prayed to God, God heard him, and was released and restored to his throne on Jerusalem. Then Manasseh knew that the LORD he was God. Despite all his wickedness, God had forgiven Manasseh. The great lesson is: Don't underestimate God's mercy. Summary Manasseh's journey illustrates profound repentance, leading to transformative actions that change his future and reflect God's mercy. Manasseh's story reflects broader themes of redemption by illustrating that no one is beyond God's grace. His dramatic transformation from a rebellious king to a repentant leader emphasizes that genuine repentance can lead to restoration and a renewed relationship with God. This narrative highlights the idea that individuals can change and that their past failures do not define their future. Highlights

"Did You Know That GROWTH Has A Cost?" - Insights to Freedom – Closing Prophetic Insight

Mary Lindow ~ The Messenger Podcast

By Mary Lindow   BEFORE WE CAN MOVE FORWARD IN OUR GROWTH JOURNEY, IT'S OFTEN NECESSARY FOR US TO RECOGNIZE WHAT WE WILL LOSE. Believe it or not, part of the reason we don't move forward in growth is because we are benefitting from staying where we are—enjoying comfort, security, the illusion of control, or any number of different things.   IN GALATIANS 4:6-8, PAUL TELLS US THAT BUILDING OUR LIVES AROUND THE WRONG THINGS MAKES US SLAVES. That's strong language, but Paul's doing something very strategic here. Paul is alluding to a part of Israel's story shortly after they had been set free from slavery in Egypt. God raised up Moses and performed great miracles to lead them out of those chains, and the Israelites praised God for their freedom, but it wasn't long before they began to complain about how they missed all the benefits and comforts of their lives in Egypt. If you remember the story, they were still longing for the “leeks”, a type of onion they liked back in Egypt! They even began to talk about going back! Can you imagine being homesick for a land where you were a slave? Now, that might sound crazy, but, according to Paul, that desire may be more familiar to you than you think.   IF THERE'S SOMETHING YOU NEED SO BADLY THAT YOU CAN'T IMAGINE YOUR LIFE WITHOUT IT, THEN YOU ARE A SLAVE TO THAT THING. You have given up your freedom. You are bound to it. It could be a possession, a relationship, a title, or a reputation.   RIGHT NOW, A RECORD AMOUNT OF PEOPLE JUST ACROSS THE UNITED STATES, INCLUDING PSYCHIATRISTS AND PSYCHOLOGISTS FROM A SECULAR VIEWPOINT, ARE SEEKING COUNSELING, AND PSYCHIATRY! They can't seem to get a handle on all of the traumatic events and all of the things going on in our society. They are double minded, often by assuming that There is a way to quickly assuage the back-and-forth cognitive dissonance of mankind when horrific events or evil events taking place.   Many are finding out now that in fact, they are deeply entrenched in great fear and great rage.   AS A CHRISTIAN COUNSELOR, BUT ALSO AS A MINISTER OF CHRIST'S MOST POWERFUL TRUTHS, and one who flows in the gifts of the spirit, here is what I have found out throughout many years of working with people who have gone to psychiatrists or psychologists, who have no biblical base or depth in what they do. It's purely clinical. It's therapeutic study that goes through the steps of addressing the mind and possibly medically. But the spiritual depth is empty because they don't know what to do and many don't acknowledge God, because they themselves feel the mind of science, the mind of humanity is created to be probed and trained like a behavioral science.   When you use psychiatry and psychology and loading people up on antidepressants or anti-anxiety medicines without addressing the spiritual void  as well as poor diet, you're basically putting a Band-Aid over a very deeply rooted problem.  (I am not saying that there are not times there are medications needed for things like brain injuries, or those who need to have a chemical imbalance corrected, but the trend is just give somebody an antidepressant or anti-anxiety medication and “they'll feel a whole lot better”, rather than addressing what is causing the upsetting and the triggering to throw the adrenaline glands into full panic mode, or depression mode!   I believe dietary care and proper supplementing have done tremendous things and have seen it in the lives of many clients. I have a few wonderful naturopathic Christian Doctors who I have referred people to and they have seen tremendous results as well. Of course you have to stick with it. There's that thing called discipline. It's not a “quick pill” that you immediately feel better with! It's a steady, working towards caring for your temple, your body, your brain, your cell structure, with proper nutritional supplements, as well as getting off of stimulants like tons of sugar and poor oils and bad nutrition.   ONCE AGAIN WE'RE ADDRESSING A CORE ISSUE AND THAT IS WE WANT TO FIX THE PROBLEM “QUICKLY” WITHOUT THE DISCIPLINE AND YES, A LITTLE BIT OF ACCOUNTABILITY THAT IT TAKES TO GET WELL.   NORMALLY, WHEN YOU'RE COUNSELING PEOPLE AS A CHRISTIAN, YOU LOOK FOR THE ROOT OF A FEW THINGS. Bitterness, the pride of life, and, if they were physically, verbally/emotionally or sexually abused. There are other variables. For instance, if someone has had a head injury or those who have had PTSD disorder from experiencing a traumatic event. But, without the core foundation of knowing that God wants to restore his people and wants to restore ALL people, if they will let him, and using that as the ultimate guiding source, a lot of psychology leaves people simply with coping mechanisms, but rarely feeling deep joy, and a sense of humility. My heart goes out to these people because they just found out that the god of science once again has failed them.   BECAUSE WE'VE BEEN GIVEN A NEW IDENTITY IN JESUS, those chains have been broken and there is a new path paving the way to our freedom. And though it's a clear and seemingly simple idea, it's not always easy in practice.   It's one thing to get you out of slavery, but it's another to get the slavery out of you.   OUR TENDENCY AND FLESH NATURE… …is to continually return to what has seemingly provided comfort, security, and safety, yet all the while turning our backs on the journey to wholeness and freedom that God desires for us. in other words, we return to familiar patterns.   But there's some good news for us today! God is a loving father!   IMAGINE A FATHER WATCHING HIS YOUNG TODDLER TAKE THEIR FIRST UNSTEADY STEPS. What does he feel? How does he react? Is he impatient and frustrated that his child doesn't go further? Does he explode in anger when his child's knees become unsteady and they fall to the ground? Do you think you'd see extraordinary disappointment in his eyes as you hear him shout, “Why aren't you walking already? Look at your older brother! He can run laps around this house! Why can't you get your act together?”   No way! Not in a million years would you expect that kind of reaction. Why not? Because a loving father celebrates the baby steps no matter how small they are. He knows those steps are the beginning of a long journey to becoming a mature adult. He's patient with the progress and celebrates every victory, no matter how short-lived.    In the same way, your heavenly Father longs to see you move forward in your spiritual life. He loves and celebrates your baby steps.   HERE ARE TWO QUESTIONS FOR YOU TO REFLECT ON TODAY. What is it I am getting from staying where I am? And, is there something I am too scared to lose?    AS YOU BEGIN TO ANSWER THESE QUESTIONS, ASK GOD FOR THE GRACE AND STRENGTH YOU NEED TO TAKE A SMALL STEP OF TRUST TODAY. Then take time to thank God for his patience and forgiveness that meet you every time you stumble back to that old life and old way of thinking.    WHEN JESUS INVITES US TO FOLLOW HIM AND LIVE A NEW WAY OF LIFE AS A PART OF HIS KINGDOM, HE INVITES US TO TRANSFER OUR TRUST. He invites us to let go of the things we have previously trusted for our security and significance—and to take hold of him as our new source. This “letting go” of our way of life can, at times, feel a lot like dying, like we are losing our life as we know it. It can be scary and even painful to take that step.    EVEN AFTER WE DECIDE TO TRUST JESUS AND FOLLOW HIM, WE WILL AT TIMES FIND OURSELVES CLINGING TO PORTIONS OF OUR OLD WAY OF LIFE. We will catch ourselves returning to those familiar sources of security and significance. And each time we will need to make the decision—again—to let go and take hold of the life Jesus offers us instead.    When you find yourself facing another moment like this, (and you will), remind yourself of Jesus's promise in the passage above. It is through the losing, the letting go, of our lives that we find them, in the deepest and fullest sense. Jesus invites us to transfer our trust from the old, familiar things we cling to for hope and security to, something much better: Jesus himself.   WHAT AREAS ARE THE HARDEST FOR YOU TO LET GO AND TRUST HIM WITH?   Often, when we have been reduced by life's hardships, we measure our ability by our human timeline and arrive at the conclusion that “we can't”. Maybe that's where you are right now. Maybe all you hear reverberating in your mind is: “I can't do this. I can't cope. I can't manage. I can't survive this. I can't.”   I WANT TO REMIND YOU OF THE LESSON OF ESTHER: The last thirty days or weeks or months don't rule your life. They don't get to dictate your future. They don't have a right over you. You belong to God's “such a time as this”.   LIKE ESTHER, I HAD TO LEARN THIS LESSON IN MY OWN LIFE. I had to repent of my “I can't”. I had to capture that thought over and over again, and make it obedient to Christ. I had to agree with God's Word that, He who had called me is faithful; He would surely do it.   One of the most well-known—sections of the Sermon on the Mount is Jesus's primer on true happiness or blessedness. These are often called the Beatitudes. Here, Jesus describes what happiness is all about. But he doesn't primarily describe emotions or feelings. Instead, he outlines a surprising way of life—an upside-down existence.   TO BE BLESSED IS TO BE ACCEPTED BY GOD, WHETHER CIRCUMSTANCES SEEM TO CONFIRM OR DENY IT.   By starting his sermon not with a list of “to-dos” but by letting us know who is blessed, Jesus clarifies that those in his kingdom don't work for blessing but from blessing. Jesus's disciples don't have to seek blessing; they are already blessed by God. In kindness, Jesus announces what we are all looking for: joy.   HUMANITY HAS BEEN SEDUCED INTO A VISION OF THE GOOD LIFE BASED ON PHYSICAL HEALTH, AMPLE MONEY, AND MINIMAL CHALLENGES. But Jesus turns it all around, explaining that the most fortunate people are those who are “socially disregarded and recognize their deep need for God”. It's not that God despises comfortable people; it's that he knows the benefit of spiritual disruption, especially when those strong assumptions about the good life are dangerous.   In the kingdom of God, the happiest people are oriented around love, not accruing greater possessions or power.   TO WALK IN STEP WITH JESUS IS TO WALK IN THE WAY OF LOVE —a love that seeks to bring reconciliation where there has been fragmentation, a love that rejoices over mercy, not resentment, a love that works to end injustice, refusing to stand by idly. This is the path of life that satisfies our souls.   JESUS CLEARLY STATES THAT THE BLESSED ARE NOT FREE FROM TROUBLE. Rather, they endure trouble as they bear witness to Jesus's path. The blessed life is connected to the cross. Patterning our lives after Christ, requires the death of our egos, our “false selves”, and the larger culture that rewards self-centeredness.   Yet as God raised Jesus from the dead, so, too, he will raise you and I from the dead. As God vindicated his Son, God will also vindicate those who choose the way of the Son.   SO BE OF GOOD CHEER! Following Jesus on the narrow path places you among the most blessed people on earth! Oh God, help me see and seek the blessed life of dying to ourselves!   I WOULD LIKE TO NOW SHARE A WORD OF WISDOM AND PROPHETIC ENCOURAGEMENT WITH YOU . I am impressed to share these words with those of you (which is probably most all of us ) that have been weary and troubled, and still fight with dark shadows that try to come and encroach and upset you, and caused you to feel as if you are alone at times in your life.   Prophetic Word I Am the spirit of grace I Am the spirit of mercy, and I Am the one that was sent to comfort you. The world will forever be in upheaval because mankind constantly fights between truth and disobedience to truth. There are no gray areas. You are either with me or you are against me. (He who is not with Me [once and for all on My side] is against Me; and he who does not [unequivocally] gather with Me scatters. -Matthew 12:30)   Many tend to reside spiritually in areas where they think that perhaps they can slowly choose whether they yield to, me or whether they stand firm in their own desire to be in control. For those that have harmed you, for those that have wounded you, for those who have misused my scripture and twisted and yes, have at times use them as weapons, I will bring my complete and righteous judgment. I give them time to repent, but with repentance also comes with open admittance to their sin. Men don't like to hear that word because my word does not feel easy or comfortable at times. Yet I, the spirit of God refuse to enable the flesh of any human.   I am doing a work in you in these days that is creating a greater dependency upon me and a greater gratitude for my ability to move the impossible mountains in your life. These days on earth are so short when you see it from my viewpoint, yet I am moved with compassion, for I know you feel as if they are moving slowly at times. Resting in my presence is a balm to a troubled soul. It causes a reset of all intentions and brings you back to the place of communion with me like Adam and Eve did in the garden before they fell. It's in rest. It's in reflection. It's in rejoicing, that you re-set.   Come away, my beloved child and rest in my presence on a daily basis finding time for me, to rest in my presence, and you will sense a great calm come over your spirit, soul, and your body, for I am the one who restores your soul. “A heart at peace gives life to the body…”  Prov. 14:30   I bind up your wounds, and I heal your broken heart. I who began a good work in you… …I am faithful to complete it to its fullest.  “I am convinced and confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will [continue to] perfect and complete it until the day of Christ Jesus [the time of His return]”. -Philippians 1:6   CLOSING THOUGHTS  Find a quiet place and settle in to spend some time being still with God. Friends. You might have to fight for it, but be intentional to get to the place where you are able to be internally still.  Ask God to make you more aware of his presence. Ask him to highlight how he has been working in you and how you can actively participate in your spiritual growth.   Finally, thank him for his faithfulness and ask him to sharpen your awareness of his spirit working in you.   Prayer: God, you are a loving Father. The ancient Mayan and Incan civilisations were the first to record various theories of consciousness. Since then many different definitions have sprouted up in various spiritual, psychological, medical, and moral texts in both Eastern and Western cultures. The ancient Mayans were among the first to suggest an organised sense of each level of consciousness, it's purpose and relationship to humanity. Then about 150 years ago, Sigmund Freud, speaking to consciousness and what in the dickens it might be - suggested that psychological processes are flows of psychological energy in a complex brain. Complex is right! So then this would mean that our behaviour, our habits and actions are all essentially influenced and controlled by psychological energy, that is, our beliefs and patterns. On top of that, specific patterns, real or imagined, will be reinforced by emotional experiences, conditioning, and even psychedelic drugs. Throughout human evolution the ability to process patterns became increasingly sophisticated as the parts of our brains involved in the processing of images - the cerebral cortex, particularly the prefrontal cortex - started to expand. Recognising our patterns allows us to predict and expect what is coming. The process of pattern recognition involves matching the information received, with the information already stored in the brain. I first embarked formally on this road to self-discovery a few decades ago in my early 20's, to start the long process to unpack my stuff. (No, we didn't have EMDR back then.) Kinesiology was the modality where the yellow brick road took me first. When I first met Kim O'Brien for kinesiology - to start looking at some of my negative patterning, the things that were getting me unstuck, well, really ruining and ruling my life, Kim was using the Enneagram and other systems to unpack this stuff, and today we're going to hear where she has gone in this field of Patterning since then. Kim O'Brien started as a kinesiologist, then studied Applied Physiology which are both disciplines that look for, and aim to correct patterns in the body. Over several years of intense work in this area it became obvious to her that patterns manifest everywhere and the most challenging ones - which can prevent healing at all levels - are the ones buried in the subconscious.  Welcome to the podcast Kim. Its a pleasure to have yo here as my guest. I'd like to start by asking - are you still using the Enneagram as a tool, and are there any new methods or systems that you're now using in clinic, and in your own life. Fascia and feeling good. You'll be hard-pressed to find more of an expert on those two topics than Sue Hitzmann, creator of the MELT Method—a pioneering self-treatment that can ease and prevent pain while it boosts performance.A fitness star turned sought-after neurofascial science educator, Sue is an internationally recognized manual therapist, exercise physiologist, and founding member of the Fascia Research Society. But she's most known as the dynamic creator of the MELT Method—her innovative self-care technique became the topic of her New York Times best-selling book, The MELT Method, and its 2019 follow-up, MELT Performance. In a word, Sue's knowledge of human anatomy could be called encyclopedic. And her passion for helping others create astounding, measurable change in their bodies is evident in every lecture, training, and class she leads. Her empathy for people in pain began with her own journey out of a debilitating case of plantar fasciitis and experiences as a manual therapist. Driven by curiosity and a quest for a holistic understanding of pain and the effects of aging, her thousands of hours of neurofascial research and clinical application with clients laid the groundwork for what would become one of the most game-changing techniques to hit the wellness and fitness industries—MELT. This groundbreaking, clinically proven program offers a do-it-yourself answer to the root cause of issues rather than temporary relief. In this conversation, Dr. John Stenberg, Dr. Cameron Bearder and Dr. James Beadle discuss various topics related to upper cervical care. They emphasize the importance of patient-centered care and collaboration among chiropractors. They also explore the boundaries and standards in upper cervical care and the need for adaptation and growth in the chiropractic profession. Takeaways Patient-centered care and collaboration among chiropractors are essential for providing the best care for patients. The chiropractic profession needs to adapt and grow to meet the changing needs of patients. Defining and measuring positive patient outcomes is crucial for evaluating the effectiveness of upper cervical care. The debate between upper and lower angle analysis highlights the need for further research and understanding in the field. Technique assumptions should be questioned and evaluated based on scientific evidence and patient outcomes. Assessing and monitoring patients is crucial in upper cervical care to evaluate progress and make informed treatment decisions. Pre-post examination data, the holding pattern, and patient feedback are valuable tools for assessing progress. Treatment should be individualized based on the patient's specific needs and response to care. Symptoms play an important role in assessing progress, and it is essential to set realistic expectations for improvement. Measuring and monitoring outcomes is important to show results and document progress. Measuring the sustainability of changes made through interventions is crucial. Understanding the frequency and intensity of interventions required to maintain changes is important. Different individuals may require different layers of intervention and careful dosing. Patterning and objective data collection can help in sustaining changes and avoiding dysfunction. My guest this week is someone who is both right at the edge of the emerging futures and in a position to exert leverage at some of the highest points of the scale at which change happens. Sophia Parker is the Emerging Futures Director at the Joseph Rowntree Foundation, a philanthropic organisation with a long history of progressive work, aiming for social and cultural equity.  It is still committed to the research that sheds new light onto the nature and scale of poverty and injustice in the UK. It is still advocating for change and supporting the people who are making it happen - but newly it is supporting those who are at the leading edge of paradigm shift, exploring all the myriad ways we could break out of late stage capitalism and towards that more flourishing future our hearts know is possible. And there are so many ways - one of the many things I took on board from this conversation was the number of people and organisations around the world who are working in and expanding the radical spaces we've touched on recently with Indy Johar and then Alnoor Ladha and Lynn Murphy.  In her role as the Director of the Emerging Futures Programme, Sophia is working at the heart of the change, connecting ideas, exploring how best to support them in ways that will grow us forward and not just keep propping up the old system and the old narratives.  She's delving deeply into ways to change the narrative, the levels at which that happens, where are the tipping points in our culture and how do we support and entire ecosystem of transformation.  Near the top of the hour, we talked about hope and truly, I came away from this conversation a lot more hopeful than when we started. Bio:Sophia Parker was CEO of Little Village, the London-based charity she founded in 2016 that works to tackle child poverty. Now, she is the Emerging Futures Director at the Joseph Rowntree Foundation, a philanthropic organisation with a long history of progressive work, aiming for social equity. The Emerging Futures programme was set up to imagine and grow radical new approaches to tackling poverty, in collaboration with partners and people with lived experience of poverty.Previously she has held senior leadership positions in think tanks and charities, as well as working in government locally and nationally, and was a Research Associate at Harvard's Kennedy School). Today's podcast features track and S&C coach, Matt McInnes-Watson.  Matt is the owner of Plus Plyos, an online coaching platform that provides plyometric training programs, courses, and systems for coaches and athletes. His initial coaching experience was as a track coach for jumpers and multi-eventers, which led him to work as the lead S&C coach for Itchen College Basketball in the UK.  Matt teaches and delivers seminars around Europe and the US, while working with athletes from football to figure skating, using his expertise in jumping and plyometrics to enhance performance. Plyometrics, in the general sense, are as old as time.  How we have classified them and integrated them into training for sport started with track and field, and now is branching out more and more into team sport.  Within both track and team sport, we have aspects of specificity, rhythms, coordination and integration that we can consider to really hone in our plyometric efforts on the ultimate progress of the athlete. For today's podcast, Matt covers his background as a soccer player, and the role of swing leg dynamics in kicking, and in its link to jumping.  We talk about various plyometric combinations from the perspective of direction, height and distance, and how this factors into common exercises like bounding and hurdle hops.  Extensive plyometrics in team sports, especially in season, is a debated topic we cover, and we finish with Matt talking about the origin and implementation of the “deep tier”, or full range plyometric exercises. Timestamps and Main Points 2:36 – Matt's background in soccer, and his introduction to jumping and track through basketball 11:42 – Single leg jumping in light of locomotion and the gait cycle 14:25 – The usage of the swing leg in a soccer kick, and how that fits with a single leg takeoff, or a bound 21:38 – How Matt looks at plyometrics for the sake of team sport development as opposed to track and field 31:52 – Matt's take on high hurdle hops, and bounce-combos, in bilateral plyometric execution 42:00 – Thoughts on how much team sport athletes need to do extensive, high-contact volume, plyometrics, in light of their team sport demands 52:54 – Matt's development and integration of “deep tier” plyometrics for athletes Matt McInnes-Watson Quotes “A big thing for me was speed on the ground in my takeoff, I went from .22s, to .17s when I jumped my best” “In terms of my abilities to pick up skills with my feet (a background of soccer was a huge help)” “It saddens me when you get a basketball player who cannot jump off of one leg” “One of my favorite combos is 2 forward, and 1 back, I think the real pinnacle of athletic movements is 2 hops forward 1 hop back, or 2 hops forward, 1 hop upward” “Especially for basketball players, lighter extensive work is hugely important for ankle rolls, if they have a history of ankle rolls” “I play with those (multi-lateral) rhythms with team sport guys, not so much with track guys” “You can't hide in movements that are (inherently reflexive)” “(Deep tier) paired with the rudimentary stuff seems to be a recipe that is working really really well for us” “The deep tier is such great fun; there is a therapeutic side to achieving that full range of motion' “There's a safety net of providing a regular stimulus (with deep tier, stretch range plyos)” “So I play with a variation of deep tier, called a double dip, so when you drop down, you drop again quickly, and you pop out of it,
