Tag-teaming in and out as the proverbial "good cop" and "bad cop", Drew and Eric tackle a critique of their Corporate Election view from Ephesians 1 by Tyler Vela, an online Calvinist apologist. Vela strawmans and misrepresents throughout and Drew and Eric highlight these tactics in their own unique ways. Drew & Eric highlight that examining and paying attention to pronouns is more important than Vela seems to think and Drew properly represents the Provisionist view of predestination in Ephesians 1 since Vela doesn't get it quite right. Eric shows some of Vela's dismissive tactics that Online Calvinism (like James White's Alpha and Omega Ministries) is often characterized by. Drew closes by revealing the double standard that many like Vela seem to have when engaging in these controversial theological/soteriological discussions.
Drew engages with a challenge/offer/bet from Tyler Vela of the Freed Thinker Podcast on Twitter. Vela offered $100 if Drew could accurately engage with his (and other Calvinists') view on Ephesians 1 and Election!! Drew summarizes their interaction on Twitter (link to thread below) and proceeds to first engage with some of Vela's tweets and then walks though Ephesians 1 from a Calvinistic perspective. You decide. Did Drew accurately engage his view? Let us know in the comments!Connect with us on the socials!

As my wife and I are on a vacation with family visiting from out of state, this episode will be a rewind of episode 19. I interview Tyler Vela about the age-old topic: Does God exist? Tyler was raised an atheist until his atheist professor in a Metaphysics class in college discussed arguments for the existence of God. The challenge of the "moral argument" caused Tyler to investigate and eventually convert to Christianity. In this interview, we raise and answer various philosophical and presuppositional arguments about the existence of God. We also consider the issue of miracles and animals that talked in the Bible. We also examine the arguments about God's existence from the claims of the Bible itself and how to define a "fool." Tyler Vela studied Philosophy and English at Sonoma State University in California. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Biblical and Theological Studies at Moody Bible Institute. He is pursuing a Masters in Biblical Studies at Reformed Theological Seminary. In this installment of Rooted in Revelation, we have our good friend and special guest, Tyler Vela, on to discuss...Molinism! What is Molinism? Is it a valid way to understand who God is and who we are, or, does it strip God of His power and leave His hands tied against the best efforts of mankind? Find the answers to these questions, and more, in this episode.
It's commonly said that Calvinism makes the problem of evil even worse for Christians. In this interview, I talk with Tyler Vela about Calvinistic answers to the problem of evil, common defenses such as free-will, and more! If you've ever discussed the creation account with another believer, it probably went very amicably OR with a significant amount of disagreement. Is the earth young? Is it old? According to Tyler Vela, it doesn't matter! We want to invite you to listen to this installment of Rooted in Revelation where Tyler explains his position on the creation account and Genesis; as you listen, we want to encourage you to be Bereans and study the Scriptures carefully on your own to come to whatever position you espouse.
In this episode, Eli Ayala and Tyler Vela talk about the weaknesses of both Molinism and Open Theism.

Dead Vinyl is a fantastic rock & roll band from Ft. Worth, TX. They will draw you in with their powerhouse sound on hits such as "Till the Cosmos Fall" and then comfort you with the soft melodic sounds of newer songs such as "Let Love Do". I'd be lying if I told you that Dead Vinyl are not friends of mine. The truth is, I've known these guys a very long time and was ecstatic to finally get to record a podcast episode with them. Dead Vinyl consists of: Hayden Miller on Vocals, Zach Tucker on Bass, Parker Anderson on Drums, and Tyler Vela on Guitar. While we unfortunately did not get to record with Tyler on this episode Hayden, Parker, and Zach take us through the various iterations of their bands before forming Dead Vinyl, there are a lot of stories and even more laughs.I was so fortunate to get to talk to these three guys a few months ago and I hope you enjoy it even half as much as we did. While this episode is not part of a larger Volume we are releasing it under the moniker of "B-Sides" since it is a bonus track just for you.Tune in to find out how the Dead Vinyl crew answers the questions essential to the essence of the podcast:1. What does music mean to you?2. How do you quantify success?3. And what happens after the music fades?Another B-Side episode and the 2 remaining Volume 5 episodes are right around the corner, but for now enjoy this bonus episode, we hope it empowers you to Let Love Do!After the Encore is a long-form, career retrospective podcast that takes you behind the music of some of your favorite artists. Christian apologist Tyler Vela debated Matt Dillahunty recently, and the exchange covered epistemology, slavery, and the laws of logic. Having debated both men before, I was excited to view the exchange. There was much to glean from it regarding our standards of evidence, and what it takes to count as good reasons to believe in God.

In this episode, Eli interviews Christian apologist Tyler Vela on why he disagrees with Molinism. We also take a popular Calvinist Quiz.
In this episode, we have a great debate between a Christian and an atheist. This one is indeed very lively and informative. Enjoy!
This is a great discussion explaining what Molinism is, why it's popular today, and why we should address it. Vocal and Tyler present some objections to Molinism with practical illustrations to help us understand it better. This is a must listen for Calvinists who want to understand this topic.
In this episode, Mentionable Clinton Wilcox relives a conversation he and Tyler Vela had with an atheist on the objectivity of morality. Then, Clinton, Joel, and Tyler all look at the science, philosophy and theology behind language itself. Also, Thumbs-up/Thumbs-down and a very Christmassy Love Song/Worship Song

In this episode, Joel Furches, Clinton Wilcox, Nick Peters and Tyler Vela discuss what motivates Christians and Atheists to do good. Are Christians just acting morally to stay out of hell? And if so, does that make atheists more intrinsically good when they act morally? Also, is everyone an atheist at core? We also rip open the mail bag and discuss a listener letter.
Sean Cole invited Tyler Vela and Chris Date to join him in discussing what they believe are problems with Provisionism -aka SBC Traditionalism-.----Tyler Vela hosts the Freed Thinker Podcast -http---freedthinkerpodcast.blogspot.com- and Chris Date is one of the leaders at Rethinking Hell -http---rethinkinghell.com--.--FYI- While Sean and Tyler agree with Chris on Reformed Theology, we do disagree with his views of annihilationism.----The three men interact with the views of Leighton Flowers who is representative of the SBC Traditionalism-Provisionism theology.----The primary three issues of concern relate to- -1- Divine determinism and human responsibility, -2- Total inability and the gospel appeal, and -3- the analogy of faith and other hermeneutical issues.----Enjoy as these three men cordially address Reformed theology's answer to the problems of Provisionism.
In the capstone event of the 2019 Mentionables conference, Mentionable Tyler Vela goes head to head with popular atheist figure Aron Ra. The two debate the "Conflict Thesis," which asks if Christianity and the institute of Science have historically conflicted with one another.
In this episode we hear a talk from the Mentionable Conference 2019. Here, Tyler Vela talks about slavery in the Bible, and how, viewed in the proper context, this is not a problem for Christians.
In this first of the 2019 Conference episodes, we hear the opening panel of the conference featuring Clinton Wilcox, Marc Lambert, Joel Furches and Tyler Vela. The team discuss audience-suggested topics and also take some Q&As.
Theology For the Rest of Us | Quick Answers to the Questions About God and the Bible
When it comes to the origins of the Earth, the most prominent perspective held by many contemporary American Evangelicals is the concept of Young-Earth Creationism. This is the idea that God created the universe and everything in this universe in six literal calendar days (six consecutive 24-hour periods). The Young-Earth position asserts that God created everything approximately 6,000 years ago (although some Young Earth Creationists say that it may have happened as far back as 10,000 to 15,000 years ago) and most Young-Earth creationists argue that the science and date that seem to point to an Old-Earth (billions of years old) is science that is being done with flawed presuppositions therefore always leads to flawed conclusions. In this episode, Kenny interviews podcaster and apologist Steve Schramm. They discuss the Biblical reasons why someone might embrace the Young-Earth position as well as discussing various related topics such as the global flood, the Garden of Eden, and the various hermeneutical approaches to Genesis. Steve is an avid proponent of the Young-Earth position. He seeks to train Christians to become confident and passionate about wholeheartedly serving Jesus as well as defending the Christian faith. In this episode, Kenny interviews author, apologist, podcaster, and philosopher Tyler Vela to talk about the literary framework hypothesis of Genesis 1 as well as Tyler's thoughts about pieces of Genesis 1 being motifs and metaphors that would lead us to believe that Genesis 1 is in large part a polemic argument written by Moses on behalf of Yahweh the creator. Tyler Vela studied Philosophy and English at California State University, Sonoma. He also earned a Bachelors degree in Biblical and Theological Studies from Moody Bible Institute. Currently, Tyler is working towards a Masters of Biblical Studies at Reformed Theological Seminary (Charlotte). Theology For the Rest of Us | Quick Answers to the Questions About God and the Bible
In Genesis, there is a group called the Nephilim. There has been much speculation as to who this group was. Many evangelicals believe that this group were the offspring of fallen angels whom had sexual relations with human women. But is this what the Scripture says? In this episode, Kenny interviews author, apologist, podcaster, and philosopher Tyler Vela to talk about the Nephilim and what the Holy Spirit is actually teaching us when we read through a passage like Genesis. Tyler Vela studied Philosophy and English at California State University, Sonoma. He also earned a Bachelors degree in Biblical and Theological Studies from Moody Bible Institute. Theology For the Rest of Us | Quick Answers to the Questions About God and the Bible
Many atheists and secular progressives have sought to attack Christianity and undermine the integrity of the New Testament's message by pointing out things that God has done things throughout Biblical history that they judge as supposedly being "evil." In their way of thinking, God is somehow a "moral monster" because He has done some things that He Himself outlaws humans from doing. But this claim is absurd for many reasons. In this episode, Kenny interviews author, apologist, podcaster, and philosopher Tyler Vela to answer this question and give clear logical reasons as to why it is simply inconsistent to claim that God is a "moral monster." Tyler Vela studied Philosophy and English at California State University, Sonoma. He also earned a Bachelors degree in Biblical and Theological Studies from Moody Bible Institute. Currently, Tyler is working towards a Masters of Biblical Studies at Reformed Theological Seminary (Charlotte).
