What a game. Through about 35 minutes the Philadelphia Flyers were winning a pretty boring game, and then the Orange & Black started pumping in goals. Check out the first 26 games of the Philadelphia Flyers schedule. Open the box score and see how the final 10, 20, 30 minutes unfolded. Will the pressure turn them into diamonds or crack them?Charlie & Bill discuss the ridiculous nature of Flyers hockey, plus Matvei Michkov's big night, Tyson Foerster and Owen Tippett heating up, and why Jacob Trouba may make sense in Orange & Black.
Twenty games into the 2024-25 season, the Philadelphia Flyers are 8-10-2 (.450). Matvei Michkov is leading all rookies in goals and points. Travis Konecny is continuing his scoring pace of the previous 2 seasons. Travis Sanheim looks more and more like a top-pair defenseman. Ivan Fedotov has had his ups and downs.Beyond that, it feels like we need a lot more time to figure out exactly what to make of some of this team's younger players.Charlie & Bill debate passing judgements on Tyson Foerster, Noah Cates, Aleksei Kolosov, Morgan Frost and more!
Philadelphia Flyers fans and analysts came into the season with high expectations for a lot of individuals. Most of those individuals were wingers- Matvei Michkov, Tyson Foerster, Joel Farabee, Owen Tippet, and Bobby Brink. Those wingers have had varying degrees of success, but one constant in Philly's lineup is the inability of any center to generate any offense.Charlie, Kelly & Bill discuss the lack of centers in the organization, as well as the injuries and roster questions that have come up over the last few weeks.
A shut-out victory for Sam Ersson! A season that began with a buzz thanks to the addition of Matvei Michkov and the anticipation of young players like Tyson Foerster, Bobby Brink and Jamie Drysdale stepping up has not gone according to plan thus far. You know it's the offseason when we have ideas like this. It's Friday, they're the Flyers, so let's F around! The Flyers season ended on Tuesday night when the Montreal Canadiens iced the puck with 7 seconds left, allowing Shayne Gostisbehere's Detroit Red Wings to tie up their game, sending it to overtime and ending Philly's chances of making the postseason. Losing to Washington was just adding insult to injury for a team that spent nearly 4 months in a playoff spot. Charlie, Kelly & Bill take a look back at the last few nights of the Flyers season, the 8-game losing streak, as well as some of the brighter spots (Sam Ersson's bounce back, Tyson Foerster's development) before turning the page on 2023-24. The Philadelphia Flyers have not won a game against a Metropolitan division opponent since December 19th, head to NYC to faceoff with the Rangers, a team Philly hasn't beaten in almost 2 years. Travis Konecny, Sam Ersson and the rest of the squad is also fending off the surging Washington Capitals, who can supplant Philly with a win on Tuesday night, and a Flyers regulation loss. 7 total goals were scored in the 3rd period alone, and Tyson Foerster's game-tying goal with 3:32 sent the game to overtime. However, the Rangers scored just 36 seconds into OT to win it. Charlie, Bill & JP break down the action. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices
In a big departure from what we've seen between the Flyers and Bruins in recent matchups, Philly & Boston played low-event hockey for 40 minutes with only 25 total shots on goal, and one tally on the board- a big power play goal by Travis Konecny late in the 2nd to give the Flyers a 1-0 lead heading into the final frame of regulation. The Flyers held on to beat the Bruins for the first time in 8 attempts, and only the 4th time in the last 4 seasons. Travis Konecny and Tyson Foerster added goals in the 3rd period to escape the Bruins. Bill, JP & Charlie break down the action, including Sam Ersson's effort against a Boston team that has lit up Philly in recent years, as well as Sean Couturier's return after 2 games in the press box. (approx. 23:00)The Phillies re-signed Zack Wheeler to a contract extension that has us very excited for the team's future. (approx. 37:05)From there, we depressingly talked about the Sixers, how terrible they've been playing on the court, yet trying to find some positives with players like Ricky Council. Tyson Foerster broke a 1-1 tie late in the second period with his 15th goal of the season, and followed it up with a goal off a penalty shot 45 seconds later to give the Flyers a 3-1 lead as the middle frame came to a close. Philadelphia outshot Ottawa 19-4 in the first period, but came up short on 3 power play opportunities leaving the door opened for the Senators to get back in it, which they did with an early Vladimir Tarasenko goal in the second. The Flyers finally closed out the Senators, who won the first 2 games of the season series by a total score of 10-5. Bill, JP, and Charlie break down the action, including some rumors about Flyers prospects, and where exactly Foerster stands in this year's rookie scoring race, as well as where his numbers lineup historically in Philly. In one of the weirdest games of the season, which saw a temporary power outage in the first, and Lightning coach Jon Cooper pull his goaltender midway through the third period, Philadelphia picked up 2 points against a team that has been a thorn in their side for multiple seasons. Bobby Brink is back from an 11-game stint in the AHL, and he got the scoring going with a goal early in the first, and Tyson Foerster, Cam York and Travis Sanheim all extended scoring streaks. Bill, JP, and Charlie break down the action, including exactly what goes on when the lights are off in the press box. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices
In a wacky back-and-forth game, the Flyers had a shot to rebound after Saturday's loss to the Rangers but unfortunately, Cal Petersen was in net for the orange and black, making the task THAT MUCH more difficult. Already missing Travis Konecny, Philly lost Jamie Drysdale to an apparent left shoulder injury, and Tyson Foerster also left after taking a shot to the knee-area, but came back shortly after. Charlie & Bill break down the action, as well as how the injuries could impact the Flyers' Trade Deadline strategy. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

Rasmus Ristolainen, Tyson Foerster, Jamie Drysdale and Owen Tippett all missed Wednesday's practice but it seems only Ristolainen will miss significant time after his injury was initially reported as “minor.” Charlie & Bill discuss how injuries could impact the Flyers trade deadline plans, as well as if the front office is considering how potential trades of mainstays like Scott Laughton could affect the Philadelphia locker room. Plus, a preview of our interview with Rachel Doerrie, available in full on our YouTube page after the show. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices
On the day Mark Recchi was inducted into the Flyers Hall of Fame, the current roster got crushed by the league-leading Boston Bruins. Sam Ersson was replaced by Cal Petersen after Ersson allowed 4 goals on 14 shots in the first period, and not much really happened after that. David Pastrnak continued his dominance over Philly, Tyson Foerster scored a pretty nice goal to make it 5-1 in the 2nd period, and… that's pretty much it. Charlie, Bill & JP break down the action, plus discuss the Owen Tippett and Ryan Poehling contract extensions. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices
