The Vegas Golden Knights have signed Carter Hart to a PTO after he was acquitted in the Hockey Canada Five trial. Roy, David, and Ethan offer their thoughts on the signing and what this says about the state of the league. Roy and David have some huge concerns about the New York Rangers' offense and how it compares to the early 2000s Florida Panthers, and Ethan thinks the Chicago Blackhawks might finally have some juice this year. Rose is back and joins in on the fun in wins and fails of the week, which include a fight that knocked the lights out, the refs in Panthers-Devils having a rough go, and Billy Gil's departure from the show. Shayna Goldman of The Athletic joins the show and brings the heat on the Carter Hart issue, and tells us why her Rangers are struggling so much and whether there is any hope their offense will get going. She also weighs in on the Blackhawks, whether Martin Necas will cash in some time soon, and how exciting the Montreal Canadiens are. Finally, the gang steps into the Panthers Den to break down what was a rough week for the two-time defending Stanley Cup Champions. Learn more about your ad choices.

Johnny talks to us about what he's bringing to the Flyers, different techniques, fundamentals, and strategies he's teaching, getting the job with Philadelphia, and working with Oliver Bonk, Nic Deslauriers, and others. Moving along Garbs tells us about his heart and work ethic, how he sleeps the night before a fight and his religious beliefs, how much film he watches to prepare for a fight, BKFC Ice Wars, and his theatrics before a fight. Wrapping up "Cannoli" tells us about getting kicked out of many schools growing up, developing an interest for culinary arts, and how he started fighting.Nasty Knuckles is a Baller Sports Network production, created by co-hosts, Riley Cote and Derek "Nasty" Settlemyre. Let's do this! The Cult of Hockey podcast. By the Faithful and for the Faithful. Today Kurt Leavins and David Staples of the Edmonton Journal dig into Oilers prospects Ike Howard, Viljami Marjala, Matt Savoie and Beau Akey, the Oilers goalie situation related to Connor Ingram, Carter Hart and Stuart Skinner, the Oil's forward lines for camp, including a new checking line, and McDavid's interview with Elliotte Friedman.
The Hockey Canada case captivated the country — raising complex questions about consent, hockey culture and even how sports organizations handle accusations of assault. In late July, all five of the accused members of Canada's 2018 world junior hockey team were found not guilty of sexual assault. After the verdict, a lawyer for one of the players, Megan Savard, said her client, Carter Hart, would have been open to a restorative justice process instead of a trial. Some legal experts say restorative justice is an alternative to the court process that could offer healing for victims and offenders. Jennifer Llewellyn, law professor and chair in restorative justice at Dalhousie's Schulich School of Law, joins The Decibel today. She'll explain how restorative justice works and its potential to address issues like the ones raised by the Hockey Canada case.Questions? Comments? Ideas? Email us at thedecibel@globeandmail.com

On Thursday, five members of Canada's 2018 world junior hockey team were found not guilty of sexually assaulting a woman in a hotel room after a Hockey Canada gala. The men — Michael McLeod, Carter Hart, Alex Formenton, Dillon Dubé and Cal Foote — were acquitted of all charges by Justice Maria Carroccia. The Hockey Canada case has captivated the country — raising complex questions about consent, hockey culture and even how sports organizations handle accusations of assault. Globe reporter Robyn Doolittle has been covering the story since it first became public in 2022. She was in the courtroom for the verdict and joins The Decibel from London, Ontario, to explain how the judge arrived at her conclusion. Questions? Comments? Ideas?
