It seems like a down year for North County representatives in the CIF playoffs, is this just a down cycle or start of a trend? The CIF Track 'Masters Meet' is set and Sarah Perkins from Santa Ynez made it in shot put, how did the rest of the field turn out? Will any other area athletes make it? The playoffs are here and we saw a bunch of really great games on Tuesday and are preparing for more great action later in the week. Lompoc and St. Joseph played a classic on the softball diamond, and the Braves were able to get a walkoff win on the baseball field. Nipomo swimming brought home the first CIF title to the Central Coast for the Spring season and several teams are preparing for their first taste of the postseason. Santa Maria is scheduled to play in the first CIF Southern Section championship game held on the Santa Maria High campus Saturday night. The Saints are making their first title game appearance since 1988. They've never won a CIF championship on the gridiron and were runners-up in 1927, 1972, 1984 and 1988. After becoming the top overall pick in this year's super-draft he made his first start for Minnesota recently and is already making a big impact. And finally, we take a look at the hard work and perseverance of Nancy Juarez who recently signed a scholarship to run track at Cal State Stanislaus, and has been working throughout the summer to prepare.

Reyna have been following our local Babe Ruth teams as they make their way through the regional tournament - they catch us up on how everyone is faring - plus Elliott will talk about the strong performance that One Way Water Polo had at the Junior Olympics. Finally, Righetti graduate Kristina Santiago will be inducted into the Cal Poly Hall of Fame this fall after a brilliant stint as a Mustang, and a professional career overseas.

Arroyo Grande grad Louie Quintana left Arizona State to become the Head Coach for Oregon State track and field and cross country teams, both for the men and women. We talk about the job head of him, and if he can create a path for the Beavers to rival Oregon as track royalty. Also Lorenzo Reyna talks about the love and support the Scott family has received from the Lompoc community, and he looks back on Noah Scott's memorial, his return to his hometown, and one of the largest pickup baseball games in history.
