In his day there was great disorder among the princes of Russia and in the Russian Church. One of the rival princes appointed a monk named Kim as Metropolitan of Kiev without seeking the blessing of the Patriarch of Constantinople, as was still done at that time. The Patriarch sent Metropolitan Constantine to investigate, and he deposed Kim and banished the priests whom Kim had ordained. This led to strife among the people, some of whom supported Constantine, some Kim. Finally, at the request of the princes, the Patriarch sent a third Metropolitan, and both Kim and Constantine were removed. When Constantine died in 1159, his will ordered that he not be buried, but cast out to be eaten by dogs, since he felt that he was guilty of sowing discord in the Church. Horrified, but unwilling to go against his last wishes, the people threw his body outside as he had ordered. During the three days that it lay exposed, Kiev was wracked with thunderstorms and earth tremors, in which eight people were killed. Finally the Prince of Kiev ordered that the Metropolitan's body be buried in the church, and the weather immediately became calm.
President Trump's high-stakes summit with Xi Jinping is igniting backlash after jaw-dropping comments praising China while behind the scenes the White House treated Beijing like a full-scale espionage threat. Tara and Lee break down the billion-dollar trade promises, the secret burner phone protocols, fears of Chinese surveillance, and the growing questions over whether Trump is strategically negotiating — or dangerously trusting America's biggest adversary. SHORT CLICKABLE TITLE Trump's China Comments STUN America EPISODE SUMMARY President Trump returned from Beijing touting “fantastic trade deals” and claiming China will invest hundreds of billions into American companies. But while the public heard glowing praise for Xi Jinping and Chinese investment, behind the scenes the Trump team reportedly operated under extreme security protocols — ditching phones, destroying materials handed out by Chinese officials, and sweeping Air Force One for potential surveillance threats. Tara and Lee analyze the contrast between Trump's public comments and the private actions of his administration, questioning whether the president is strategically flattering China to secure economic concessions or risking political fallout at home. The episode explores concerns over Chinese farmland purchases near U.S. military bases, allegations of Chinese cyber interference in American elections, and growing fears about Beijing's role in arming Iran and targeting U.S. forces. The discussion also dives into the business angle of the summit, including Boeing's renewed aircraft deal with China, American energy exports, and the broader geopolitical chess match involving Iran, Russia, and global oil markets. Plus, the hosts examine how media, Democrats, and Trump supporters are reacting to the president's controversial rhetoric. Some of CNN's prominent figures are reportedly outraged over Scott Jennings' on-air outburst directed at Adam Mockler during the live edition of NewsNight on Thursday, April 30. According to journalist Rob Shuter's sources, Anderson Cooper, Jake Tapper, and Wolf Blitzer felt "embarrassed" by the incident, believing it diminished the network's reputation. This incident didn't surprise the veteran trio, who reportedly disapprove of Jennings, considering him "loud, crass, and beneath the network they spent decades building." Another insider noted that Jennings regards Cooper, Tapper, and Blitzer as "stiff, overproduced, and painfully dull," illustrating a deep mutual contempt. No consequences," the insider declared, expressing that while older CNN figures abhor Jennings' style, the new leadership views him as essential to the network's approach.Advertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy

The drama at Forrester Creations involving Steffy continues to escalate, while the tension between Brooke Logan and Katie Logan remains unmitigated. B&B spoilers show that Hope is expected to receive some unsettling news from Steffy, which could be linked to the Forresters' reaction to the successful launch of Katie's Logan designs using Eric's drafts. As the week unfolds, viewers will see Brooke storm out of the Forrester office to confront Katie, potentially marking the end of the sisters' relationship. Bill Spencer, Liam Spencer, and Katie are ecstatic over their successful marketing plan, but at Forrester Creations, Eric Forrester, Brooke, and Ridge Forrester are less than pleased. B&B spoilers hint that RJ Forrester tries to convince Electra Forrester to give them a chance, while Ivy Forrester leaves Forrester Creations, blaming everything on Daphne Rose. April 22, 2026Today's Reading: Luke 7:36-50Daily Lectionary: Exodus 34:29-35:21; Exodus 35:22-38:20; Luke 7:36-50“He who is forgiven little, loves little.” (Luke 7:47)In the Name + of Jesus. Amen. Pharisee Simon has invited Jesus to his house for a dinner party. Jesus is perhaps even the honored guest. Usually, in the ancient East, as a guest arrived, he would be given water to wash his feet, a kiss as a warm welcome (an equivalent to our handshake), and, for VIPS, olive oil for personal sprucing up. Shockingly, Jesus receives none of these kind courtesies from Simon. Or to put it this way: Simon shows no love whatsoever to Jesus. Zilch. Zero. Nada. All of a sudden, a “woman of the city, a sinner, [i.e., prostitute]” shows up. Crashes the affair. What is she doing? Plying her trade? Is she putting the moves on Jesus? It sure looks like it! Get the kids out of the room! It's about to get R-rated at Simon's house. Check it out! Tears flow from her eyes. Behind Jesus and at His feet, she washes His feet with her tears and dries them off with her hair. Then she dares to kiss Jesus' feet and anoint them with ointment from her alabaster flask! Simon, of course, is appalled. Horrified that Jesus lets this woman, a hardcore sinner, do this to Him or for Him. Simon snarls to himself: “If this man were a prophet, he would have known who and what sort of woman this is who is touching him, for she is a sinner.” Jesus picks up on Simon's thinking and tells a quick parable about two men being forgiven debts that they could not repay. One man had an enormous debt cancelled, whereas the other had a small debt forgiven. Jesus asks Simon: “Now which of them will love him more?” To which Simon begrudgingly answered, “The one that had the bigger debt cancelled.” Get it? Simon has no use for Jesus as Savior for the forgiveness of sins. Simon would certainly say: “I'm not perfect, but I am certainly not like this woman!” So he showed no love for Jesus. That is precisely why Jesus tells him: “He who is forgiven little, loves little.” The big-time notorious sinner, the woman, had enormous use of Jesus – FORGIVENESS, LIFE, AND SALVATION. That is why she showed and gave Jesus so much love. She wasn't trying to seduce Him. She was there giving her Savior the highest worship any sinner could give: F-A-I-T-H! Her trust in Jesus as Savior begged for His total and complete forgiveness for her sins. She who is forgiven much loves much! Jesus says so: “Therefore I tell you, her sins, which are many, are forgiven – for she loved much. But he who is forgiven little, loves little.” And as she believed she had. Jesus absolved her: “Your sins are forgiven…. Your faith has saved you; go in peace.” In the Name + of Jesus. Amen. Lord Jesus Christ, I believe in You. Forgive me. And may my love for you and for others be abundant. Amen.

Plagues Upon the Earth: Disease and the Course of Human History By: Kyle Harper Published: 2021 704 Pages Briefly, what is this book about? A comprehensive historical overview of the never-ending war between humanity and disease. From its earliest days all the way down to the COVID-19 pandemic. With a specific focus on what he calls the "paradox of progress": every new advance creates new opportunities for diseases. But it's not just us driving diseases, they're driving us as well. Efforts to mitigate the negative effects of these pathogens are scattered throughout our history, our civilization and our genes. What authorial biases should I be aware of? None that you'd really be surprised by. He explicitly takes a very global view of humanity's disease burden, knowing that the story of European diseases like smallpox and the plague have already received plenty of attention. (Which is not to say he ignores them. Merely that he locates them as just one among many.) Who should read this book? I think everyone should be more aware of the potential dangers of pandemics, and the monstrous impact plagues have had on the development of humanity and civilization, and this book does a fantastic job with the second part, but it has less to offer on future danger than I hoped. Speaking of which: What does the book have to say about the future? Harper definitely takes the stand that our long war against diseases is far from over, and there is a lot of great discussion about how pathogens evolve alongside us, changing tactics as we change our environment. But there's almost no discussion (none that I really remember) of the danger of bioengineered pathogens, which felt like a significant oversight. Specific thoughts: Two things which continue to baffle me
Horrified that a foreign plot was destroying the Republic, Robespierre moved to halt the dechristianisation campaign. Motivated by practical, ideological, and political concerns, the influential Jacobin launched a blistering counterattack against radical anti-clericalism. Daily Soap Opera Spoilers by Soap Dirt (GH, Y&R, B&B, and DOOL)
Click to Subscribe: https://bit.ly/Youtube-Subscribe-SoapDirt Days of Our Lives spoilers show that Theo Carver (Tyler Joseph Andrews), has family secrets about to unravel. Theo's grandfather, Stefano DiMera's (Joseph Mascolo) bones, have been confirmed as the remains found in the crypt. However, another secret about the death of Theo's mother, Lexi Carver (Renee Jones), still lurks in the shadows. As Theo recovers from his hospital stay, his father Abe Carver (James Reynolds) and Paulina Price (Jackee Harry) agree to keep the truth about Stefano's role in Lexi's death from him. DOOL spoilers reveal that the secret may not stay hidden for long, especially with the possibility of Lexi being the test subject Dr. Wilhelm Rolf (Richard Wharton) is about to revive. Stefano and Theo shared a close relationship, and it was Stefano's influence that led Theo to his love for chess. However, Lexi worked to shield Theo from Stefano's darker side, leading to a complicated relationship. Days of our Lives spoilers indicate that Theo's mother, Lexi, succumbed to inoperable brain tumors after being held captive in the DeMera tunnels, filled with toxic fumes, by Andre DiMera (Thaao Penghlis). Stefano felt responsible for Lexi's death, as his family's schemes indirectly led to her illness. Before her death, Lexi forgave Stefano, leaving a lasting impact on him. DOOL spoilers hint that Rolf's human test subject could lead to Lexi's return to Days, a possibility that could see Theo learning about Stefano's indirect role in his mother's death. The upcoming memorial for Stefano could set the stage for this revelation, potentially leading to a family bonding moment or further divisions within the DeMera clan. As February sweeps approach, fans are eagerly waiting to see if Lexi will be revived. The Soap Dirt podcast made the Top 100 List for Apple Podcast's Entertainment News Category. Gilthanas' life is one of torment and transformation. Let's learn more about this ill-fated Hero of the Lance. You can buy the Odyssey of Gilthanas here: https://amzn.to/4rPa9Rc https://youtu.be/I8r_Jz2PW7s Transcript Cold Open His story is one of love, betrayal, and torture. Let's learn more about the tumultuous life of Gilthanas Kanan. Intro Welcome to another DragonLance Saga episode. My name is Adam and today I am going to talk about Gilthanas Kanan. I would like to take a moment and thank the DLSaga YouTube members and Patreon patrons, and invite you to consider becoming a member or patron, you can even pick up Dragonlance media using my affiliate links in the description below. I am referencing the Chronicles, The Odyssey of Gilthanas, and DD3 Price of Courage for this information. If I leave anything out or misspeak, please leave a comment below! Discussion Gilthanas Kanan was born in 241 AC, a prince of the Qualinesti elves, and from the moment of his birth, his path was decided for him. He was not destined to rule, like his elder brother Porthios, nor was he fated to inspire armies as his younger sister Laurana would one day do. Gilthanas was raised for something subtler—and perhaps more dangerous. He was groomed to be a voice. As the middle child of Speaker Solostaran Kanan, Gilthanas was trained to speak for the elves beyond the borders of Qualinost. He was educated in diplomacy, history, swordplay, and magic, taught to represent elven interests in a world the Qualinesti increasingly feared and despised. Handsome, articulate, and confident, Gilthanas embodied everything the elves believed themselves to be—cultured, refined, and superior. And that belief would nearly destroy him. In his youth, Gilthanas formed a close bond with his cousin Tanis Half-Elven. Together they roamed the courts of Qualinost, shared stories and adventures, and dreamed of futures yet unwritten. But as they grew older, those bonds fractured. When Laurana and Tanis fell in love, Gilthanas reacted with fury. To him, the idea of a royal elven princess loving a half-elf was an unforgivable stain upon their lineage. That moment defined the early Gilthanas: proud, inflexible, and blinded by racial arrogance. Yet fate was already shaping him for something greater. During the Kentommen, the sacred elven coming-of-age vigil, Gilthanas narrowly escaped assassination—saved by the very cousin he had cast aside. Though the truth of the plot shook the royal house, Gilthanas retreated inward, remaining in Qualinost for decades until he himself completed the Kentommen and was recognized as an adult among his people. When the War of the Lance began, Gilthanas was no longer a sheltered prince. He became a scout, a commander, and eventually, a hero. In 350 AC, while patrolling the forests of Qualinesti, Gilthanas encountered the human smith Theros Ironfeld. Suspicious at first, he soon recognized the man's integrity and foresight. Together, they began constructing a fleet—quietly, desperately—to ensure the elves might escape should the Dragonarmies overrun their homeland. But escape was not enough for Gilthanas. He led elven forces toward Pax Tharkas, seeking to free the slaves held by Highlord Verminaard. The mission ended in catastrophe. Dragonarmy forces ambushed his command, and every elf under his leadership was burned alive. Gilthanas survived only because he was struck unconscious and left for dead. When he awoke among the ashes, something in him hardened forever. Captured soon after alongside the Heroes of the Lance, Gilthanas endured slavery, betrayal, and war at close quarters. He helped liberate Pax Tharkas, guided refugees through impossible terrain, and stood beside humans he once despised. Though he felt isolated among them, their courage chipped away at his certainty. Slowly, painfully, Gilthanas began to change. That transformation accelerated when he met Silvara. In Southern Ergoth, Gilthanas encountered the mysterious Kagonesti elf who would alter the course of his life. Silvara was unlike any elf he had known—quiet, compassionate, and bound to secrets she did not yet share. Gilthanas fell deeply in love, and for the first time, his heart overruled his pride. But love came with revelation. At the Monument of the Silver Dragon, Silvara revealed her true identity: D'Argent, a Silver Dragon in elven guise. Horrified, Gilthanas recoiled. The elf who once condemned his sister's love for a half-elf could not accept that his own heart had chosen a dragon. Yet even in rejection, love endured. Guided by the wizard Fizban, Gilthanas and Silvara undertook one of the most dangerous missions of the war—recovering the metallic dragon eggs from the Dragonarmies' dark city of Sanction. Within the Temple of Luerkhisis, Gilthanas witnessed the creation of draconians and the true horror of the enemy's designs. Their success changed history. The Metallic Dragons reentered the war, and the tide turned. By the war's end, Gilthanas stood transformed. He reconciled with Tanis, openly rejecting the racial divisions he once championed. When asked to rule Kalaman, he accepted—not as a prince above others, but as a servant of all. Yet peace did not last. During the Age of Mortals, Gilthanas was captured and imprisoned for twelve years beneath Silvanesti, forgotten by the world. When finally rescued, he emerged into an era defined not by gods, but by dragons who ruled as tyrants. He wandered Krynn in search of Silvara—enduring poison, madness, assassination attempts, and magical trials—driven by love that refused to fade. Their reunion came at last during the struggle against the Dragon Overlords, but fate demanded one final sacrifice. When Gellidus, the White Dragon Overlord, captured Silvara, he offered Gilthanas an impossible choice: her life in exchange for his freedom. Gilthanas accepted enslavement, becoming a dragon vassal, branded and bound, serving as the eyes of a monster to save the soul he loved. In doing so, Gilthanas betrayed allies, stole forbidden relics, and vanished into shadow—his ultimate fate uncertain. Once a prince who believed in elven perfection, Gilthanas Kanan became a hero who learned humility, and finally, a tragic figure who chose love over honor, freedom, and legacy. His story is not one of triumph. It is one of transformation— and of the terrible cost of loving too deeply in a world shaped by war. Outro And that is all I have to say about Gilthanas Kanan. What is the fate of Gilthanas in your home campaigns? Should happy endings ever be realized in war torn campaign settings? And finally, what would you have done differently if you were Gilthanas? Welcome to The Times of Israel's Daily Briefing, your 20-minute audio update on what's happening in Israel, the Middle East and the Jewish world. Diaspora reporter Zev Stub and religion and archaeology reporter Rossella Tercatin join host Amanda Borschel-Dan for today's episode. Two gunmen shot dead at least 15 people and wounded dozens of others on Sunday at a Hanukkah event being held at Sydney’s iconic Bondi Beach to mark the first night of the Jewish holiday. There were about 1,000 Jews in attendance. We learn about the timeline of the attack and the identities of the murdered that were released by recording time. Stub reports on what is known so far about the father-son attackers' potential motives and a potential direction police are investigating. We learn how a bystander, filmed tackling and disarming a gunman during yesterday’s terror attack, was named as Ahmed al Ahmed, a 43-year-old Muslim father of two who owns a local produce store. And after a series of conversations yesterday with Australian Jewish leaders, Stub reports how they feel as though their fears for the community's safety were left unheeded. Tercatin explains how in Sydney, the Chabad movement’s annual Bondi Beach Hanukkah gathering is a massive event that usually features a petting zoo, face painting and box after box of free jelly donuts. She delves into the history of large-scale Chabad-led Hanukkah events. We then learn about Jerusalem's "cursed" museum, the Rockefeller Archaeological Museum in East Jerusalem. Now again -- kind of -- open to the public. Hear what can be seen in a place where time has stood still. And finally, we hear about a rare, 1,300-year-old lead pendant decorated with a menorah symbol was uncovered during an archaeological excavation beneath the southwestern corner of the Temple Mount, north of the City of David. This week, Jason is joined by one of the fast rising stars in Netflix's global reality universe, Harry Jowsey! After first breaking onto the scene with Netflix unscripted TV, Harry has become one of the faces of the platform with his own show “Let's Marry Harry” premiering in 2026. He was the centerpiece of Netflix's summer breakout event earlier this year where the streamer spotlighted him as one of its breakout stars. However, Harry's career goes further beyond reality TV as he breaks into acting with starring roles in Netflix's upcoming “The Wrong Paris” and “Billy Knight” where he will be opposite Al Pacino, and the horror indie film Horrified. He is also an entrepreneur launching PASH, a sustainable brand with a philanthropic mission inspired by his personal experience. Harry Jowsey is back — and this time, he's peeling back the curtain on what's changed since his last appearance in 2021. From the unique path he's carved in television to the downside of being “too good” in the industry, Harry gets candid about how he's grown, what he's learned, and how he's navigating the highs and lows of fame. He opens up about dealing with online hate and turning it into a lesson, the realities of living and working in LA's film industry, and why redefining what it means to “take a break” has been a game changer. Harry also dives into the making of Let's Marry Harry, the likelihood of a proposal, his personal goal to read daily, and where he's making the most money right now. Plus, Harry weighs in on the current state of reality TV vs. scripted work, the shows he passed on (and may regret), his experience working as an actor, joining the Unwell network with Alex Cooper, his desire to work on projects that simply make people feel good, and his unfiltered take on today's social media landscape. Harry reveals all this and so much more in another episode you can't afford to miss! The first time I had much use for poetry came in college, freshmen year. My professor assigned each of us to memorize a poem and recite it in class. Horrified, I chose ee cummings' "anyone lived in a pretty how town" and began the process of reading it a million times between tennis practices and snowball fights. Over and over and over I read it, trying to memorize how the words and lines zipped together without the usual literary wardrobe of grammar. I can still remember pieces, twenty five years later: "anyone lived in a pretty how town / with up so many floating bells down..." "no one loved him more by more..." As I read and read, I realized the poem featured two characters named "anyone" and "no one." I began to understand how the years passed quickly through the lines and stanzas, as cycles of time spun through small word choices. I saw its heartbreak. Reading by reading I began to find it utterly beautiful. By the time my friends and I went out to practice for our class presentation by reciting our poems in the middle of Pomona College's outdoor Greek theater late one night, I loved it. But I was still really nervous. As an educator, I've often wondered how to help students get as close up to a poem as I got to ee cummings' "anyone lived in a pretty how town." What makes it possible to step inside the story of a poem, try on its language, dream its dreams? Maybe without having to recite it though? This month I had a chance to explore some of Robert Scott Root-Bernstein and Michèle Root-Bernstein book, Sparks of Genius: The Thirteen Thinking Tools of the World's Most Creative People. Inside, they discuss the risk of education staying on a kind of hypothetical parallel track to the realities of the world, each so close to each other and yet never quite touching. Imagination and experience, they suggest, have become disconnected. "This being the case," write the Root-Bernsteins, "the task for educators, self-learners, and parents is simply put: to reunite the two. And the world's most creative people tell us how in their own words and deeds, in their own explorations of their own minds at work. What they find as individuals, when taken as a whole, is a common set of thinking tools at the heart of creative understanding" (24-25). What are these tools, you might well ask, and what do they have to do with ee cummings, students, and the study of poetry? The tools are: observing, imaging, abstracting, recognizing patterns, forming patterns, analogizing, body thinking, empathizing, dimensional thinking, modeling, playing, transforming, and synthesizing. They're pretty fascinating to play around with when it comes to designing curriculum. How might we help students better understand a poem, using these tools? I decided to experiment with designing around patterns when it comes to ee cummings, a master of writing in rhythms and cycles. The nexus of patterns and poetry had me thinking of blackout poetry at first, but of course, I already had a poem. I didn't need a new one. So I decided to try a new spin on the blackout - blacking out for discovering meaning, instead of to create a new poem. Instead of a blackout poem, I would try a poem blackout, illuminating what patterns I could find by eliminating everything else. For me, the results were powerful. So today on the pod, let me walk you through how to do a poem blackout of your own in class, with any poem you might want to dig deeply into with students. If you love blackout poetry, I think you'll love this riff. As usual, I really encourage you to check out the show notes for the oh-so-necessary visuals to complement this episode. America is now on a watchlist for the the health of civil society for “sustained attacks on civic freedoms.” We have to turn this around. Did Trump just confess to his Epstein role? Is he treating "the financially-lubricated sex trafficking of women as mere [employment]?" How does a 16 yr old come to work at a spa at Mar-a-Lago? Will Trump pardon Diddy? Does Trump have a special place in his heart for the trafficking and abuse of young women and girls? Democrats did something important for democracy and the mainstream media ignored it. Or are the Dems not fighting loud enough with their message? Are we now living in the age of "Trump traveling terrorism?" If you don't agree with Trump - it's scary to travel.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
