Chainsaw Man is unstoppable. Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc is #1 at the North American box office, knocking out prestigious releases from Disney and the like with an impressive $17 million in its first opening weekend.Per Variety, Chainsaw Man: The Movie continued Sony's box-office anime dominance with an opening-weekend haul of $17.2 million from 3,003 North American theaters. This is the second big win for Sony's anime-distributing brand, Crunchyroll, following the jaw-dropping domestic success of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Infinity Castle. However, the box-office weekend from Friday, Oct. 24, to Sunday, Oct. 26, was anything but good news for Disney, as its big-screen musical biopic of Bruce Springsteen flopped in theaters.Support The Podcast!https://creators.spotify.com/pod/show/roose366/subscribeFollow For More Content &Streams!Science Podcast: https://open.spotify.com/show/5nFXe9dPeWrMpyObyAlrnF?si=7358d1cf32cb45b7Youtube Gaming: https://www.youtube.com/@RooseJp/videosTiktok: https://www.tiktok.com/@podcastonanime
There is been one disappointment after another recently. Chatty Patty almost goes to a Kodansha House lottery event, Crunchyroll suddenly doesn't know how to make subtitles, and Wandance's animation is a disgrace. At least with the bitter there is a little bit of sweet in the form of some Fall 2025 anime that caught our attention. Hollywood isn't performing as well at home or abroad. Is it losing its cultural dominance to China's burgeoning film industry? ‘Survive until 2025' was the mantra that got Hollywood through the past five years of lockdown, streaming wars, and franchise fatigue. And while summer films like Lilo & Stitch, Superman, and Mission Impossible: Final Reckoning made critical and box office impact… on the whole, it still doesn't compare to pre-2020 levels. And even more curious, the international box office - specifically in China - has declined over the years as well. At the same time, the highest grossing animated film of all time hit theaters this year… in China. Ne Zha 2 has dominated the global box office and with Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba and K-Pop: Demon Hunters also breaking records, Brittany had to ask: What does this say about Hollywood's global influence and how have audience appetites changed since 2020? Staff writer at The Atlantic, Shirley Li, joins the show to answer those questions and more.Learn more about sponsor message choices: podcastchoices.com/adchoicesNPR Privacy Policy

The words "the final phase" keep crossing our minds. Of course they do. It's 2025 and Muzan finally let us in to the most bombastic, physics defying, and confusing place of residence in all of fiction. Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle is upon us. We went to watch it to bring you back the feels, the top-tier animation, on top of the sword play action that made us wait for so long. Shout out to the water tribe, if you know you know, cue the Upper Moon 4 strumming her biwa (yes, we're cultured) and join us on this multidimensional escapade. Every effort is made to keep spoilers to a minimum. (The only exception being older titles)

The Battle Royale film comes to US theaters for its 25th anniversary, the Azumanga Daioh collection is released on Blu-ray, and a fight breaks out at the Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba movie after a man pees on a row of seats in front of him! Also, KPop Demon Hunters becomes 1st Netflix title to surpass 300 million views, the CLAMP x GODIVA lineup is revealed, and Creepy Nuts R-指定 & DJ松永 announces an appearance at Coachella! Meanwhile in Japan... An employee was suspended and demoted for verbal abuse, blaming being Osakan, an airport inspector arrested for stealing from luggage, and a man was arrested for stealing 50 fire hose nozzles?!
Though it definitely hits best with fans, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba: Infinity Castle's winning formula is just as effective on the big screen. Read more at: https://scottsself-indulgentmovieblog.blogspot.com/.

Demon Slayer is back in theaters with its second original movie after the record-breaking success of 2020's Mugen Train, and the latest installment – Part I of the planned Infinity Castle trilogy, adapting the final arc of Gotouge Koyoharu's manga – is proving every bit as popular, breaking box office records in Japan and now in America. That's for good reason: Infinity Castle is an incredible film, depicting three major battles across its 155-minute runtime, and executing on all of it at the same insanely high level we've come to expect from ufotable over the years. This is a film with some of the most jaw-dropping animated spectacle you'll ever see in a theater, but as always, its heart is with the characters, their backstories, and their interiority, and this film's focus on the villain Akaza proves to be some of the most effective material in the life of the entire series. We talk about all of it and more, including the terrific vocal performances and killer soundtrack, as Kimetsu no Yaiba truly kicks off the beginning of the end. Enjoy! Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Infinity Castle (Japanese: 劇場版「鬼滅の刃」無限城編, Hepburn: Gekijō-ban Kimetsu no Yaiba: Mugen Jō-hen) is a 2025 Japanese animated dark fantasy action film based on the "Infinity Castle" arc of the 2016–20 manga series Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba by Koyoharu Gotouge. It is a direct sequel to the fourth season of the anime television series as well as the manga fourth, fifth, and sixth adaptations, following the film Mugen Train (2020) and the feature-length compilations To the Swordsmith Village (2023) and To the Hashira Training (2024). It is directed by Haruo Sotozaki, produced by Ufotable, and written by the studio's staff members.Unlike the Swordsmith Village and Hashira Training adaptations, which are compilation films, Infinity Castle is a feature-length multi-film adaptation due to the arc's content and dramatic pacing, similarly to Mugen Train. It is the first film of a trilogy announced in June 2024, immediately following the airing of the fourth season's finale.[4]Officially titled Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Infinity Castle – Part 1: Akaza Returns, it was released in Japan on July 18, 2025, by Aniplex and Toho. It was released by Crunchyroll through Sony Pictures Releasing in select Asian countries in August, before releasing in all other territories the following month. The film broke several box office records and grossed $386 million worldwide. It became the fourth highest-grossing Japanese film worldwide, the highest-grossing film of 2025 in Japan, and the third highest-grossing film in the country's history. The film received generally positive reviews from critics, who praised its action sequences, visuals, and engaging story, although some noted pacing issues. After recovering from Kagaya Ubuyashiki's trap and subduing Tamayo, Muzan Kibutsuji retreats into his dimensional stronghold, the Infinity Castle, and traps the Demon Slayer Corps inside.[a] The Demon Slayers are separated and begin battling numerous powerful demons as they search for Muzan. Kagaya's son Kiriya and daughters Kuina and Kanata lead the operation by mapping the Infinity Castle with the Kasugai crows and locating its inhabitants, with former Hashiras Tengen Uzui and Shinjuro Rengoku standing guard.PlotPart 1: Akaza Returns
