Christmas is (almost) here! However, we're both awaiting the gift of a win this holiday season. This week's episode covers the Falcons being dismantled by the 49ers in a de-facto Wild Card matchup and previews the potential embarrassment (or is it?) of a loss to the Lions at home this coming Sunday. In the NFC North, the Bears (read: Matt Nagy) struggled mightily against the Vikings on Monday Night Football despite being competitive up until the point that they weren't. Next up for Chicago is Seattle, who is also struggling and has a lot to prove to itself and its fans in a 4:05 p.m. ET showdown in Week 16. Elsewhere around the league, Bill Belichick is no longer a grinch, we get NFL football on Christmas Day, and the fantasy playoffs aren't going so well for Asif... unfortunately. Cheers!

On this week's episode, we talk about the significance of Atlanta's 4 p.m. kickoff against San Francisco (spoiler alert: Falcons can go from "in the hunt" to NFC Wild Card with a win) + what it'll take to ensure another Dirty Birds road win. In the NFC North, a Monday Night Snoozefest awaits the nation as Da Bears host the Minnesota Vikings. Another primetime opportunity to grow and develop as QB1 awaits Justin Fields in that game. The possibility of ruining the Vikings potential playoff chances is an added bonus. We also cover the surprising shootout that was Bears vs. Packers and the quality win Atlanta had against Carolina in Week 14 too. This week's selection of beers cover a pilsner, DIPA, and stout. We're back with another fresh episode for y'all! This one covers how Da Bears are bad and how the Falcons are somehow worse. So what's next for both teams? Chicago plays Green Bay on SNF this week; the only thing worth looking forward to in that game is return of Justin Fields. Atlanta plays a division game on the road Sunday. A win could keep them alive in the playoff hunt, which will be an unpleasant disaster; a loss will have a lot of people questioning what has to happen next in terms of a rebuild, fire sale, etc. Elsewhere, Nick Saban pulled a Nick Saban. Now, the Bulldogs have a chance to pull off what Alabama did with a switch at QB, but they'll have to get through Michigan first. Happy holidays!

As for the Falcons side, the Dirty Birds are back from across the pond with a W as part of their carry on! Kyle Pitts pulled out the tea cup for his first NFL touchdown celebration, Matt Ryan is playing like a hungry veteran, and next up is a beatable Dolphins team after this week(end)'s bye. There's still plenty of Atlanta sports to discuss, though, as the Braves are celebrating Joctober in style—pearls and all. We hope you enjoyed our Clip of the Week (instead of a traditional episode) on social media last week. This week we're back with an episode that—in our opinion—is well worth the wait! On this episode, we're talking with none other than Will McFadden, current freelancer for The Falcoholic and former Digital Reporter for AtlantaFalcons.com. Will literally worked behind-the-scenes with the Atlanta Falcons from 2017 until last season. He tells us about walking the line between objective journalist and being a fan who was employed by the team, how he got started in the sports industry (which is how he and Asif met originally), and then... Around 14 minutes into the episode we start talking about Julio Jones. Some questions answered include: Where will he get traded? Will he even get traded? What things do the Falcons need to consider in making such a deal? What's Grady Jarrett got to do with any of it? Is Julio making a mistake? There's a lot more too, such as did Julio's trade request at season's end impact Atlanta's NFL Draft strategy? And who was Will's favorite pick of the NFL Draft for Atlanta? As always, there's beer talk too... and because this is a podcast about Atlanta sports (& birds), Will also gave us a prediction for Game 5 between the Hawks vs. Knicks, which took place right after this conversation. We hope you enjoy this episode and find the audio quality to be listenable as Asif spent some time doctoring it up. While it might sound less than ideal at the very beginning, it certainly stabilizes and improves for the duration of the episode within the first few minutes. This week's episode features another super special guest! This time we're speaking with Matt Wells, beverage director of Taco Mac. Atlantans know Taco Mac as an institution for wings and beer. The brand is something Matt takes pride in and has worked hard to make a top dining and imbibing destination in the metro area. Our conversation also covers his illustrious and fascinating career in the beer industry (truly the stuff of legends), what he drinks on his days off, why you should have your next outing at Taco Mac, and Atlanta sports... specifically, what does he want to see the Falcons do in the upcoming NFL Draft and why he's optimistic about the Braves chances to finally get a championship this year. Whether you like beer or sports, one thing is for certain: You're going to love this episode! Cheers p.s.: Many, many thanks to Matt for his time! We can't wait to talk again!

This special episode of Bears, Birds, and Brews features an interview with Christo Brock, who is the director of the new documentary Brewmance (https://www.brewmancemovie.com/). His film tells the story of multiple brewers' journeys about making it in the craft beer industry. It is beautiful, entertaining, and informative. Diehard craft beer fans will love it, as will people who are newer to the scene. We enjoyed our conversation with Mr. Brock very much. We talk about his inspiration for the film, what he learned from it, and how we all play a pivotal role in the world of craft beer—whether we make it, consume it, or document it. Enjoy!

On this week's episode we talk Sam Darnold getting traded to the NFC South and what it means for the upcoming NFL Draft. Before that, we also talk (half jokingly) about the draft prospects for Gonzaga's Jalen Suggs, who was a great high school quarterback, but mainly we focus on his exceptional play in this year's NCAA Tournament. Unfortunately Gonzaga's perfect season didn't happen. We also talk about that game and the classic Final Four match between Gonzaga and UCLA over the weekend. This week's episode is a short one because there's also a bonus interview with documentarian and filmmaker Christo Brock, who's newest film Brewmance (https://www.brewmancemovie.com/) is available for streaming now! (See our queue for that standalone interview.) This week's beer is an IPA called Cancel Culture from Celestial Beerworks in Texas. Great brewery, highly recommend it!

We're back... literally! This week's episode is a very special one as Nabeel and I got to record again in person (all Covid protocols met) for the first time in MONTHS. And we sure have a lot to talk about too! We start with talking about having a beer on the forever-infamous 3-28 Day (a.k.a. Atlanta Falcons Day), in which Dirty Birds fans everywhere are allowed to have a strong, stiff drink. We went with Pothole City from Pipeworks Brewing, which certainly hit the spot. Then we discuss the NFL's unofficial 3-way trade (hence the title) involving the Dolphins, 49ers, and Eagles. What implications do the moves have on the Falcons and Bears? How should 49ers fans feel? How did Miami come out on top of all of it, and what will they do next? Also, what can Eagles fans expect as a result of their blockbuster move? Other topics include the Chicago Bulls winning the NBA trade deadline and so much more! Please LIKE, SHARE, and SUBSCRIBE as it helps us tremendously! And don't forget to follow and tag us on social media @BearsBirdsBrews so we can keep the conversation going! (There's a question at the very end that Nabeel wants all listeners to answer, so don't forget to take notes!) Cheers!

This week's episode revolves around the madness that is the NCAA Tournament, Andy Dalton being the new QB of the Chicago Bears (still), and another week of NFL free agency. Specifically, we re-visit Da Bears acquisition of Andy Dalton (spoiler: still not a good move), the release of Kyle Fuller, and why the front office and coaching staff (i.e.: Matt Nagy and Ryan Pace) don't actually seem to be on the hot seat. Then we transition to talking about some of the best free agents who are still available, what the Falcons have been up to in the offseason so far, and what their mindset might be heading into the NFL Draft. We also discuss March Madness too! If you can't get enough Oral (Roberts) from this week's episode, be sure to join us again next week because there will be more...! p.s.: Apologies in advance for the poor-ish sound quality on Asif's end; the AirPods didn't want to cooperate this week. Please submit all feedback to @bearsbirdsandbrews on social media and in the reviews on Apple Podcasts. Thank you!

The legal tampering period in the NFL is open, and Da Bears did what Da Bears do best... make another move for a bridge quarterback way too early in the free agency period. Other stuff happens on this episode too—such as Matt Ryan restructuring his deal, the Jags making splashes in free agency (not the pool at the arena), and more—but really, Andy Dalton is going to become a Chicago Bear, and Nabeel is heated! It's Da Rant, Part... well, who really knows at this point?? Fortunately I'm drinking just the thing to calm Nabeel down, and that's Cirrus CBD water made right here in Atlanta! #drinkcirrus we're not sponsored, but give us a shout on social media if you do like our show and recommendations @bearsbirdsandbrews. Also, please do leave a comment, like, share, and subscribe as IT TRULY HELPS... unlike Andy Dalton coming to Chicago... maybe?!!?

New NFL Salary Cap, Who Dis?

We're back from our brief hiatus! And of course we've got a lot to talk about... On this week's episode, we discuss a variety of scenarios that could play out with both the Chicago Bears and Atlanta Falcons now that the NFL salary cap number has officially been set at $182.5M for next season. In addition to that, we discuss who got the better end of the deal (or is it great for both sides?) between the Dallas Cowboys and Dak Prescott, who signed a 4-year, $160M contract just a few days ago. Then, Nabeel does a deep dive into a topic that's been on his—and every single Bears fan's mind—for the last two weeks, which is when and how will Russell Wilson become the guy in Chicago since he's clearly open to playing there?! The show actually leads off with some breaking NBA news: the mutual parting of ways between the San Antonio Spurs and LaMarcus Aldridge. We also speculate on where he will end up and why. Other topics discussed: Are All-Star Games worth it? Are they necessary? Also, how much responsibility does Matt Ryan have on his shoulders going into next season since he's technically the second-most expensive player in the NFL for next year? And Nabeel clarifies his social media comments on Patrick Mahomes' Super Bowl postgame comments. As always, you can sound off on any of the above on our social media pages @bearsbirdsandbrews on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. Don't forget to like and subscribe to our podcast either! Shares, subscriptions, and reviews help us greatly, and we love to hear your feedback! Lastly, this week's featured beers are from Creature Comforts Brewing Co. Visit any Atlanta-area Taco Mac anytime during the month of March to try Creature Comforts on tap since it's their Beer of the Month. If you go on a Thursday you might even get a free pint glass or koozie! Cheers!
