On this episode of Generation Red: A Husker Podcast, the boys preview Nebraska's upcoming game versus Boston College in the Pinstripe Bowl in New York City. They open things with a quick recruiting and portal update from Justin, and then dive into the game against the Golden Eagles. Coach BA previews the Husker offense, including three play designs we could see on Saturday. Justin then gives us a glimpse into the mind of new DC John Butler and tries to break down what the Blackshirts defense might look like. Scott breaks down the BC offense, and Ken wraps things up with a look at their defense. Then the boys give their score predictions. In the last segment, they review their predictions for Round 1 of the College Football Playoffs. How badly did they do? Then they give some quick predictions for how they see Round 2 going. On this episode of Generation Red: A Husker Podcast, Scott & Ken are once again joined by Coach BA and Justin Adams to preview the first round matchups in the 2024 College Football Playoff. Make sure to stay tuned to the very end for a B1G announcement! They start things off with a lively discussion about the seedings for the 12 teams, and whether or not the CFP Committee did right by all of them. Coach BA certainly has his issues with how it all shook out! After that, they broke down the games, one-by-one. They compare stats, national rankings in total offense and defense, and pick then final scores. Same one-score loss. Same 2nd half collapse. Same opponent. Shit. On this episode of Generation Red: A Husker Podcast, Scott and I discuss the inevitable mess that is every 2nd half versus Iowa since 2018. It's biblical in proportion. It's painful, and yet kind of a dull, numb pain that comes from the same old crap, different game. They go over the game for a bit, then give their unique opinions about all the pregame drama, and shift their focus to the future. Has the mantra of “Chasing 3” been a negative narrative, along with the Rhule-ism of “This will be a 4 quarter game”? We discuss that, along with Tony White's apparent - maybe - departure to be the DC at Florida State, and the prospect of his taking key position coaches with him, and the effect that would have on recruiting. Oh yeah. Nebraska starts bowl prep soon, and you have Signing Day right around the corner. Sheesh! We are partners with Underdog Sports; the easiest place to play fantasy sports. On this episode of Generation Red: A Husker Podcast, Ken & Scott welcome Levi back to the podcast to discuss the dominant and thoroughly enjoyable win over the Wisconsin Badgers on Saturday, and to preview the Iowa game. The guys talk about the efficiently explosive plays made by the Holgorsen-led offense, the leaky, yet just good enough defense, and give out their Game MVP. From there, they turn their attention to the night time tussle that is coming up in Iowa City. Once again, the Blackshirts will be tested with a stout running game…but not much else. Can the offense put together enough offense to score on a rather stingy Hawkeye D? Tune in to find out as the boys give their players to watch for Iowa, and close the festivities with score predictions and bowl game location wish-list. On this episode of Generation Red: A Husker Podcast, Scott and Ken mourn the 4th one-score loss of the 2024 Season, and preview what they kinda sorta hope will be the sixth win on Saturday vs Wisconsin. After Nebraska's 4th straight loss, 5th loss overall, and 4th loss by 1 score in 2024, the boys are in a apathetic mood. Scott breaks down the defense, Ken breaks down the offense and they choose their game MVP before turning their attention to the Badgers, who has a new OC...who has never called a play in his college football career. It's the perfect recipe for Nebraska to finally get over the hump...or NOT. We hope you enjoyed this episode, and we would love for you to contact us with questions, comments, or suggestions. In this episode, the guys talk about the prospects for the Husker offense now that Matt Rhule has given play-calling duties over to newly-hired offensive analyst, Dana Holgorsen. On this episode of Generation Red: A Husker Podcast, Scott and Ken discuss the State of the Husker football program following the loss to UCLA. Rather than covering the game in detail, the guys tackle some difficult questions that are swirling around the Husker football program after the lack of effort they saw in the shocking loss to the previously 2-5 UCLA Bruins. This is more of a philisophical discussion, as opposed to a breakdown of what went wrong. Why bother? We all saw it. Tonight, we try to answer the question of why. Who is Nebraska? Why do they play so well in Columbus a week ago, and then literally crap the field at home against one of the worst teams in the conference? I am not sure if we ever arrive at any answers, but at least we believe it was therapeutic, We hope you enjoyed this episode, and we would love for you to contact us with questions, comments, or suggestions. On this episode of Generation Red: A Husker Podcast, Ken and Scott look back at the nearly-miraculous Saturday morning in Columbus, OH. Not only did the Huskers basically shut down one of the most explosive offenses in college football, but they also scored some points in the second half! TEN of them! AND THREE FIELD GOALS!!!!! What happened? Of course, not a single bigtime game can go by without the B1G referees inserting themselves and/or NOT asserting themselves when necessary. The boys discuss this with the aid of some screenshots from Twi-X. They break down the offense, defense, and give their main take aways and MVP award before turning their attention to previewing the UCLA game on Nov 2. On this episode of Generation Red: A Husker Podcast, Ken and Scott attempt to explain just what the heck happened on the road against #16 Indiana. They dive into some numbers from the offense, defense and give their main takeaways before naming a Game MVP, which wasn't really much of a contest. Only one player stood out, while everyone else just stood there for four quarters and took a beating. Then the boys switch gears to cover the upcoming trip to Columbus by comparing all the season stats for both teams and make their doom and gloom score predictions. The cover their overall impressions, give their main takeaways going into the first bye week of the 2024 Husker football season, and give out the Game MVP Award. Then, they shift their attention to previewing the Huskers upcoming road trip to Bloomington to take on the undefeated Indiana Hoosiers on October 19th. This game will mark Nebraska's second trip into the state and the guys compare the season stats for both teams, while also comparing the overall schedules for both teams and how well their opponents have faired throughout 2024. On this episode of Generation Red: A Husker Podcast, Scott and Ken react to the Huskers' important win in West Lafayette, IN over a pretty bad Purdue team. Even after the crazy scoreless first half, there was not doubt as to who the better team was, it just took more time than usual to establish their superiority. It was good to see a second half performance that Nebraska desperately needed. On this episode of Generation Red: A Husker Podcast, Scott and I are in-studio tonight with his three brothers and special guest, Jake AKA: Texas Toast on Twitter! We talk about early Husker memories, what it's like seeing a game at Memorial Stadium when you know the team is good, and of course the game itself. The defense was a little bit leaky, especially on 3rd down, while the offense was efficient and prolific, leading to zero punts by Brian Buschini and a comfortable win. Then we turn our attention to next Friday's contest versus the Illini of Illinois, complete with stat comparisons and score predictions. On this episode of Generation Red: A Husker Podcast, Scott and Ken recap the altogether enjoyable 28-10 beatdown of the Buffaloes, which should have and could have been worse...much worse. But they're pretty sure the refs couldn't get any worse. It was almost as if they may have had money on something...like the total points over/under, maybe? However, I don't think anybody had an over/under for broken bones...which were 2. Both CU players. And of course, Rolex the Rapper left the field with 2 minutes to go. What a bad sport! Anyway, the boys use a new approach and recap the game by presenting Three Takeaways each, and intersperse the latest clips from Coach BA's Breakdown. Being 2-0 feels incredible. Being 2-0 after beating the Vermin feels incredible times infinity. At the end, they share a quick preview of UNI. On this episode of Generation Red: A Husker Podcast, Scott and Ken are joined in-studio by three very special guests: Ken's wife, Wanda and his cousin Janelle and her husband Chuck, who are visiting Nebraska for the first time. Supposed Penn State fans, Chuck and Janelle were in Memorial Stadium Saturday afternoon for their very first major college football game. We talk with them both about their experience and then turn our attention to the game. Dylan Raiola shined in his debut as the Huskers' starting QB, and the Blackshirts shut the Miners offense down after one quick strike drive to propel the Big Red to their very first opening week win since 2019. In fact it was also the first opening week at home since then as well. We also debut a brand new segment on the show called Coach BA's Breakdown, where Coach Ben Aude, host of the BA Coach's Show breaks down two plays from Saturday's game: one on offense, and one on defense. On this episode of Generation Red: A Husker Podcast, Scott and Ken welcome back Justin Adams from the Nebraska Football channel at the Voice of College Football on YouTube. After the usual ad reads and general podcast housekeeping, Justin updates the Generation Red audience with the latest in recruiting…namely, the recent commitment from Isaiah Mozee, and supremely talented wide receiver from Missouri, who's father Jamal was recently added to the offensive staff. What implications - if any - could this flip of a highly touted Oregon commit mean for the likes of David Sanders, Jr? Or Michael Terry, now that Texas has landed their #1 target at receiver? After that, it was time for the main topic; where based purely on speculation and the players getting the most buzz early in Fall Camp, the boys have a good time predicting the starters for the revamped Husker offense and their legacy quarterback, Dylan Raiola. The boys' picks rarely differed, and there was great peace and tranquility in the Realm of the Red. Then they shifted their focus to the Blackshirts, which featured a lot of different opinions on who should be awarded the coveted practice jerseys.. On this episode of Generation Red: A Husker Podcast, Coach Ben Aude from The BA Coach's Show joins Ken in the studio, while Scott remotes in from his house to discuss some comments made by Dylan Raiola at the media session on Friday. Then Coach BA and I react to what we saw at the Big Red Preview open practice on Saturday night, which raised about 100,000 dollars for the 1890 NIL Initiative. On this episode of Generation Red: A Husker Podcast, Scott and Ken welcome two new guests to the show. Justin Adams is the host of a successful Husker Football Recruiting channel at The Voice of College Football. You can find his show at Nebraska Football at the Voice of CollegeFootball on YouTube, and @The_HtownHusker on Twitter/X. Our other guest is Coach Ben Aude, host of The BA Coach's Show on YouTube, and also available on any podcast app of your choice. You can follow Coach @theBACoachsShow on Twitter/X We start the show by talking about the HUGE talent that made their way to Nebraska over the weekend, in the likes of #1 OT in the 2025 recruiting class, David Sanders, Jr. Also in town was Oregon commit, 4 star WR Isaiah Mozee, who's father Jamar was just hired as an offensive assistant to help coach receivers. Justin's specialty is recruiting, so he led the discussion, and then talked about the visit with Phil Steele that the Voice of College Football recently hosted. After that, we spent over an hour reviewing some clips of video from B1G Media Days, where Isaac Gifford, Ty Robinson, Ben Scott and Head Coach Matt Rhule emphasized the concept of family at Nebraska. Finally, we reviewed a clip of video featuring the SEC's biggest hot-take apologist, Paul Finebaum, who took offense to Matt Rhule's comments about the B1G being the best conference in college football. The commentary was incendiary for sure, but the response was especially heated, including a tweet from friend of the show, Bryan, host of t he Husker Army Podcast. It was a fun, silly segment about a silly man with silly SEC homer-ism, who feels his job is to gatekeep college football and put everyone in their place who just don't auto-anoint the SEC as the greatest thing ever to happen in the world of sport. On this episode of Generation Red: A Husker Podcast, the guys are in-studio with former Husker Chancellor Brewington. Right out of the gate, they talked about how Chance made his way to Lincoln, why he felt it was such a good fit, and what it was like to play for the Huskers. Then they spent a good bit of time previewing the 2024 season, and how Chance feels about the culture changes, and the potential he sees in the receivers and TEs on this team. Finally, they finish up by discussing his current life in Lincoln, and what keeps him here as opposed to going home to Arizona. We also shared some fun facts about reading, Larry the Cable Guy, and cologne obsessions…and of course the charity golf outing coming up in October. Anyone who watched the Blackshirts in the mid - 90's know who these fine gentlemen are, and many a former college quarterback likely still experience night terrors after being pulverized by these two and their teammates. Peyton Manning, anyone? We will talk to the guys about what they're up to these days, discuss the glory years, and the Championship Mindset that was cultivated back then, and then ask them when and where they believe the program began to slip. Then,we will have Grant & Jared answer a few questions from our live audience, and social media. Finally, we wrap things up by discussing the current team, and if The Bookends believe Matt Rhule and his 2024 Huskers will begin to right the ship, and usher in a new Era of Nebraska Greatness on the national stage. On this episode of Generation Red, A Husker Podcast, Scott and I go through Nebraska's schedule, game by game, to predict final scores...from two perspectives: Realistic and Drunk-As-Hell-On-Rhule-Aid. We start with the realistic predictions, which were pretty optimistic considering what we've both seen since starting the podcast in 2021. Y'all remember 2021, right? The Greatest 3-9 Football Team in History? Before moving into the Rhule-Aid predictions, we have a HUGE announcement at the midway point that you DO NOT want to miss. BUUUUUURP!!!! After downing ginormous tumblers of Rhule-Aid, we dive into our optimistic views of how the season could play out...and if either one of us is right, Nebraska could very well be hosting a first round CFB Playoff game come December. On this episode of Generation Red: A Husker Podcast, I am joined by Redcast Rob, who is in town for the Spring Game. Scott wasn't able to join us as he had other plans, and the podcast was unplanned. Rob came over to see the studio and signed the sign, and then we said: "Hey! Let's do a podcast!" So we did. And fun was had by all until the tornado sirens started going off. On this episode of Generation Red: A Husker Podcast, we are back in the studio, where we are joined by Ravi Lulla from @hurrdatsports. He hosts Hurrdat Sports Radio every morning from7-10AM on AM 590 ESPN and ESPN Tri-Cities, where he and former Husker running backDamon Benning have a unique on-air chemistry that blends sports talk, in-depth philosophy, and some crazy rabbit trails to make for a fun and thoughtful show every morning. Ravi also serves as the Business Operations Manager at Hurrdat. For the first part of the show, we discuss Ravi's journey to Hurrdat. Then we transition intoSpring Football for the Huskers, and talk about the storylines that have grabbed his attention, expectations for the Spring Game, the position group that needs to make the biggest jump to help production, and our favorite binge worthy TV shows. Plus, because I am a forgetful old guy these days, we remembered to have Ravi sign our sign after we went off the air. On this episode of Generation Red: A Husker Podcast (@genredpod), Scott and I list our the ten people in the Husker football program who will make an impact on the 2024season. Mind you, we said people...not just players. It has been a tumultuous last ten days or so for the program and the fanbase, and we're happy to get back to just talking football. There will be zero administration drama discussed on this show. None. Nada. Nyet. We have our opinions, but there's already a crap ton of them floating around the Husker Podcast Universe, and adding ours to them won't change what happened, nor influence the future, so we'll just stick to what we can control...making preseason lists. We hope you enjoyed this episode, and we would love for you to contact us with questions, comments, or suggestions. We haven't seen our buddies Justin, Derrick and Tyler since they were in our studio in August, making our picks in the Over/Under Game for the 2023 Season, but this temporary hiatus from our triplicate bromance can't last forever, can it? Nope. We welcome the Cuz Cast boys back to the StreamYard studio to reveal the results of those picks on this episode of Generation Red: A Husker Podcast, where we laughed, the cousins drank, and general mayhem ensued. What more could a Husker podcast fan ask for? Well, besides coherent content, I suppose. Anyway, it is always a freaking blast to record a pod with our favorite Husker cousins, and this one is no exception. This is also our last show of the year...and #99 to boot...so, stay tuned for a very special Episode 100 to come early in 2024, featuring lots of guests, laughs, and hopefully looking toward a brighter Husker future in the New Year. Help out Willie and Karrie Miller with medical expenses by going here to donate to their go fund me: https://gofund.me/28345859 Thank you! Ever wonder how much emotional and mental torture you can handle before you dissolve into a pile of quivering goo? Well, ask any Nebraska Football fan that question, and you are likely to hear them say something like: "Hell, I don't know, but I'll be back for more next year, dammit!" On this episode of Generation Red, Scott and I will do our best not to dissolve into piles of quivering goo as we break down Nebraska's 4th straight loss in a game that would qualify the Huskers for their first bowl game since 2016. Never mind that this was the 2nd loss in that stretch that came down to a last second walk-off FG by the opposition...at home...after a back-breaking interception when the Huskers' were threatening to score. Never mind that the Huskers had won 3 games in a row before losing to three teams who had, in order: lost 6 in a row, lost 4 in a row, and lost 3 in a row...with the last two of them becoming bowl eligible with their win over the Big Red. To wrap this vortex of agony up, Nebraska had #17 Iowa against the ropes with less than a minute to go in the game Friday afternoon, when Iowa ran a zone blitz, and one INT and long run by an IA back later, and a pint sized FG kicker comes in to attempt his first FG of the season...you know, cuz that makes perfect sense in crunch time, right? Well, the little fart barely gets the ball over the crossbar to win. Therapy session over, we flush the 2023 season away and look forward to 2024, and Year Two of the Rhule Era. Some questions are left to be answered in many fans' minds, and Scott and I wonder out loud about a few of them in the second half of the show. 1. Can Nebraska still make a bowl game? 2. How do the Huskers FIX their turnover issues going into 2024? 3. Is a Portal QB necessary? 4. Should Rhule hire a full-time QB Coach? We end the show with a surprising - and only - #3tweeted entrant from Big Red Smoke, a dedicated viewer of the show, and preview our next livestream with the Husker Cuz Cast on December 3. On this episode of Generation Red: A Husker Podcast, after our scheduled guest was a no-show, Scott and I look back at some of the key moments and stats from the heartbreaking, gut-wrenching, and thoroughly disheartening loss to the Badgers. This morphed into less of a game recap, and more of a conversation about coaching and what may or may not eventually happen at the OC position. And overarching in all is the same gut-punch question: Will the pain ever end? After that, we turn the page to the upcoming battle in Lincoln in 5 days with the B1G West-winning Iowa Hawkeyes. Nebraska spoiled their shot at Indianapolis last season, and those crappy corn-growers to the east will be looking for revenge against a hurting and vulnerable Husker squad who's still looking for that ever-elusive sixth win and bowl-eligibility for the first time since 2016. On this episode of Generation Red: A Husker Podcast, Scott and I recap the deflating loss to Michigan State in East Lansing...but not before we drop some tidbits and the Viewer Poll. We'll look back at some stats, key plays, and shout out our Husker Players of the Game. Then we turn the page to the upcoming turtle tussle with Maryland next Saturday in Lincoln. We will compare some season stats, give our keys to victory, pick two players to keep an eye on, make a bold prediction or two, and finish up with picking the final score. #3tweeted makes it's return. Or does it? Tune in to find out...Seriously though, if folks don't get busy participating, we're gonna run out of games to use for the contest, and then Scott and I are gonna eat all the damn jerky! On this episode of Generation Red: A Husker Podcast, Scott and I are honored to do a special simulcast livestream with the Husker Army Podcast, which is available to watch on both of our YouTube channels. Bryan Knutzen and Kenny Cheatham joined us in the GenRedPod studios to talk about the Purdue game - including our picks for Players of the Game for the Huskers - and then preview the Michigan State contest in East Lansing next Saturday. Of course, unlike the last time we had a guest in-studio, we let Kenny and Bryan sign the sign. In case you're wondering why there were no Husker Tidbits or #3tweeted segments, it was because we wanted to focus in on the conversation. Both of those segments make their return next week. We hope you enjoyed the show, and would love for you to contact us with questions, comments, or suggestions. Use the links below to find us on social media, or to send an email. On this episode of Generation Red: A Husker Podcast, Scott and I welcome Dustin Schutte back to the podcast for his third visit. We look back at the weird, wacky, and wonderful win over the Northwestern Wildcats. We give our Team and Individual Stats, our Players of the Game and Bold Predictions Results before turning the page to preview Purdue. Dustin is a friend. A buddy. A Purdue fan...but we don't hold that against him. He has a unique perspective of the rebuilt happening in Boilermaker country under f irst - year head coach, Brian Walters. We'll look at the season stats for both teams and see how they compare in national and conference rankings. Then, Dustin tells us who we should pay attention to on the Purdue roster, and we do the same for Nebraska's. W e wrap the preview up with Score and Bold Predictions for the game. The top (1) entries in this week's #3tweeted contest are revealed, along with the results of the Viewer Poll. We'll look back at the stats, share the GenRedPod Players of the Game, take a gander at some mid-season stats, share a few nuggets from Twitter in the newly-named “Three-Tweeted” segment, and then finish up by mapping out Nebraska path to bowl eligibility after the bye-week. On this episode of Generation Red: A Husker Podcast, Scott and I are joined in-studio by Matt Honke from the Go Big Redcast, to break down the Huskers' game with the Illini in Champagne. No outline. On this episode of Generation Red: A Husker Podcast, Scott and I are again joined by our buddy Jake (@TexasToasty54) to look back at the carnage the Wolverines left behind in Memorial Stadium, and how a demoralizing loss like that could affect the rest of the season. The good news? Newly-minted RB Joshua Fleeks' long TD run late in the 4th Quarter helped avoid the first home shut-out since 1968. Other than that, it was all bad...and I watched it all in Section 18 without emotion. I knew a slaughter was in the cards, and accepted it with resignation. Then we turn the page to preview the road trip to Champagne, where the Huskers will take on the Illinois on Friday night at 7PM. It is also my birthday, so I am hoping for a nice present in the form of a W, and as bad as Illinois has looked so far this season, anything is possible. We look into the numbers and then select our Players of the Game on offense and defense for both teams. Then we turn our attention over the the Northern Illinois Huskies, who sent former AD Shawn Eichorst packing last time they were in town in 2017, by beating the Huskers in a surprising upset.
