Tonight we invite you to partake in the big pitcher of Kool-aid we will be serving as Greg has promised to showcase his pent-up joy and enthusiasm for our beloved Husker Football season. As the Chatterfields and Minnie have endured an entire off-season of Greg's expectant misfortunes of gloom for the Huskers, tonight we will witness and share in his exuberance and excitement. We will also be discussing the Big Ten Network's stop in Nebraska on Wednesday. Why Pat McAfee called out Head Coach Matt Rhule on his show today. As well as the latest in Chasing 3 docuseries.
This week on the Five Heart Podcast, we have the most unfortunate news that OT Teddy Prochazka is likely to miss the entire season with an injury that he incurred earlier this week. At the same time, Tristan Alvano underwent surgery, which we expected, and Brian Buschini lost some power in his punting. Nebraska held an open practice over the weekend with admission going to the NIL initiative. What's the reaction from the event? What does Head Coach Matt Rhule have to say about his elite QB Dylan Raiola? And most importantly, is Rhule comfortable starting a freshman QB? Or is he more likely to rely on Old Faithful, Heinrich Haarberg?
On this episode of Generation Red: A Husker Podcast, Scott and Ken welcome two new guests to the show. Justin Adams is the host of a successful Husker Football Recruiting channel at The Voice of College Football. You can find his show at Nebraska Football at the Voice of CollegeFootball on YouTube, and @The_HtownHusker on Twitter/X. Our other guest is Coach Ben Aude, host of The BA Coach's Show on YouTube, and also available on any podcast app of your choice. You can follow Coach @theBACoachsShow on Twitter/X We start the show by talking about the HUGE talent that made their way to Nebraska over the weekend, in the likes of #1 OT in the 2025 recruiting class, David Sanders, Jr. Also in town was Oregon commit, 4 star WR Isaiah Mozee, who's father Jamar was just hired as an offensive assistant to help coach receivers. Justin's specialty is recruiting, so he led the discussion, and then talked about the visit with Phil Steele that the Voice of College Football recently hosted. After that, we spent over an hour reviewing some clips of video from B1G Media Days, where Isaac Gifford, Ty Robinson, Ben Scott and Head Coach Matt Rhule emphasized the concept of family at Nebraska. Finally, we reviewed a clip of video featuring the SEC's biggest hot-take apologist, Paul Finebaum, who took offense to Matt Rhule's comments about the B1G being the best conference in college football. The commentary was incendiary for sure, but the response was especially heated, including a tweet from friend of the show, Bryan, host of t he Husker Army Podcast. It was a fun, silly segment about a silly man with silly SEC homer-ism, who feels his job is to gatekeep college football and put everyone in their place who just don't auto-anoint the SEC as the greatest thing ever to happen in the world of sport. Head Coach Matt Rhule spoke to his evaluation process in recruiting and how his philosophy is the same as the one at Ohio State. It's a great message for a coach to send to his players, but is it entirely accurate?
It's what you've always wanted. Going back to talk about a Nebraska football victory. (Apparently talking more about the Minnesota and Colorado games caused unintended heartache among the populous.) In Week 3, Nebraska hosted the Huskies of Northern Illinois. It would be the first of a state-wide sweep of the Land of Lincoln, as the HuskERS emerged victorious in Head Coach Matt Rhule's regular season debut in Memorial stadium. This week, Hoss and Greg take an emotionally detached look at the victory, what went right for Nebraska and how they would use that win to build on future success.
Chris Schmidt and Connor Clark are back for a Monday edition of Hail Varsity Radio as the guys open the show up by talking Nebraska's second closed scrimmage of spring ball on Saturday, specifically the quarterbacks and the great day they had according to Head Coach Matt Rhule. The guys then welcome David Gustafson to discuss Husker baseball's series win over Maryland over the weekend and previews some very important games moving forward. To finish up hour one the guys hear some of Coach Rhule's presser following the scrimmage on Saturday and break down more of the offense. In hour two its Coach Charlie McBride who sits down with the guys to discuss third down defense and the importance of that to win ballgames in the Big Ten next season and how to respond if the defense gives up a big third down. Then Jay Moore continues the defensive conversation and lays out what he wants to see during the spring game next Saturday. Hour two wraps up with more Rhule audio and a brief conversation about the NFL Draft. A Hurrdat Media Production. On today's show, Pat, AQ Shipley, Darius Butler, AJ Hawk, and the boys recap last night's crazy Monday Night Football doubleheader that saw Tommy Cutlets once again orchestrate an incredible performance that saw the Giants defeat the Packers at home, and the Titans put together one of the best comeback's in NFL history as they defeated the Dolphins in Miami down 14 with less than three minutes left. Today's show also features three incredible guests including 6x NHL All-Star and ESPN NHL analyst PK Subban to chat about tonight's massive tilt in Edmonton between the Oilers and Blackhawks and an update on the NHL right now (39:29-55:42), 4x MVP, Super Bowl Champion/MVP, and QB of the New York Jets, Aaron Rodgers to chat about the Jets massive win this week, and everything that's going on in the NFL as each week seems to get crazier than the one before (1:03:30-2:07:24), and Nebraska Head Football Coach Matt Rhule to chat about the Nebraska football rebuild, what he likes about college football as opposed to the NFL, the state of NIL in college football and how much things have changed since he last coached in college, how long he thinks it'll take to get Nebraska to where they used to be, and much more (2:13:47-2:57:44). Head Coach Matt Rhule joined Greg Sharpe in studio for the weekly Nebraska Football Show ahead of the Huskers' week 4 matchup against Louisiana Tech.
The Huskers get their first win of the season. Great news for Matt Rhule and the team that could have beaten Minnesota and, because of turnovers, let Colorado run them out of Folsom Field. But there was a development after the win. Nebraska did it with a new quarterback. Because of a Jeff Sims injury, Kearney native Heinrich Haarberg started under center. Haarberg led the team in rushing with 98 yards on 21 carries. His passing numbers are also not bad, 14-24 for 158 yards and two touchdowns. So, does this mean the Huskers have a quarterback controversy three games into the season? On this edition of the Husker Doc Talk Podcast, presented by BetFred Sports, Dr. Rob Zatechka and Travis Justice discuss the performance of Haarberg and the pros and cons of going back both quarterbacks as the Huskers get ready to take on Louisiana Tech. Head Coach Matt Rhule has a lot to consider heading into the season's fourth game. The athleticism of Sims or the face the Huskers only turned the ball over once with Haarberg as the starter. This week on the Five Heart Podcast, Greg and Jon discuss the new allowance of single-digit uniform numbers as instituted by Head Coach Matt Rhule. Also, season ticket holders received their physical copy tickets this week. Not only did the Athletic Department hear the cries of the people and bring back physical tickets, they are enhanced with digital extras. We discussed changes in the Big Ten, including the possibility of the championshpi game being played in Las Vegas. Meanwhile, Chip Kelly has an idea of doing away with conferences and having two large divisions (made up of Power Five and Group of Five schools) and letting them battle it out. And to that I say...bring on relegation! One of our commenters gave us some Superchat $$$ and asked about our worst away game experience. Jon tells the story of his, noting that his wife still gets angry about it every time it comes up in conversations. Furthermore, Colorado social media is just silly sometimes. And Jon gives us details on the Mn4NE gathering before the first game of the season. More info on that is here!!! The comments were lively once again this week!

This week on the Five Heart Podcast/Live Show, we can only hope that the Husker baseball game has completed by showtime or we will have lost Jon for the foreseeable future. As the Huskers were taking on the top-ranked Maryland Terrapins Thursday night, if not by 9pm Central, certainly by the end of the show we will know what's next for the Nebraska baseball team. In the time since our last get-together, the the Husker football team has received a commitment from in-state QB Daniel Kaelin, who flipped from Mizzou to stay home. He was one of just two Class of ‘24 quarterbacks to receive public offers from Head Coach Matt Rhule. And make some room at the buffet, because there's a big boy coming in, as Rhule and Co. signed Tyler Knaak, an offensive tackle transfer from Utah. It is a gabby show, but we did have a fairly animated discussion about NIL and people who can shit $8M and not really care that they just did. We also discuss Kevin Warren and Larry Scott and two terrible conference commissioners and whether or not the game of college football is being destroyed. Learn more about your ad choices. It's been awhile since Scott & I recorded our 72nd episode in which we happily trolled Iowa for it's three consecutive losses to Nebraska in the two major men's sports.Let's just sit back and enjoy that for a moment...Ok. Spring practice for the Huskers starts on Monday, March 20. In the past Spring seasons, fans were focused on the quarterback battle or who the top running back will be. Instead, everyone will be dialed in on new Head Coach Matt Rhule and his staff this year. The expectations at Nebraska have never changed. However, it's no secret that the results have not matched the expectations, and that's why the Huskers are starting over with their sixth new Head Coach since 1998. On this edition of the Doc Talk Podcast presented by BetFred Sports, Travis Justice and Dr. Rob Zatehcka sit down with Mitch Sherman from The Athletic and discuss the expectations for Spring Practice and if we are going to learn anything about what this team is capable of doing. Also, how many players will be leaving after the Spring Season? It might be more than you think! Right now, there are not enough scholarships to go around. Mitch also gives us his insight into the recruitment of quarterback Dylan Riola. Riola made a big splash on his recent visit to Lincoln. Was his high visibility at the basketball an indication of his comfortability and maybe showing his cards on his college selection? We discuss. The gang is back with Hot Take Szn's NFL matchup of the week! While the Bills look to pay back the Chiefs after last post- seasons short comings, the Panthers send Head Coach Matt Rhule home while still owing him $40M. Seems the Panthers have forgotten some unwritten Rhule's of their own. Rhule #1: Never commit to a coach past 3 seasons and give him full control of the roster if he's not a proven winner, let alone 7 seasons. Rhule #2: Never have a Christian Mccaffrey and give him an offensive line softer than the drinks at the McCafé. Rhule #3: Never in your life expect to have credibility as a coach when you look fresh off a weekend bender every Sunday and you bet your job on Baker Mayfield and Sam Darnold. Rhule #4: Never come out of college to the pros and think you'll operate 53 grown men making more money than you like some hungry kids at Baylor. Follow us on social media!
