The Ohio State Buckeyes absolutely destroyed the Akron Zips 59-7 in Kyle McCord's debut as the quarterback for Ohio State and that leads the show. Jordan Williams and Christopher Renne provide an instant recap show to break down the reasons why Ohio State won and what to expect for the Buckeyes moving forward. They get into a discussion about K'Vaughan Pope's sideline outburst and try to contextualize that moment. Jordan and Chris discuss why fans should not go too hard on him in spite of everything that occurred. The offensive side of the ball played a complete game from start to finish on the back of Henderson, McCord, and the receivers. McCord set a true freshman record, but is that enough for him to challenge Stroud's starter status. Defensively, they played with effort and executed extremely well after the firsts series, we discuss what changed. Then we get into some of the players who shined and if this will translate for the Buckeyes moving forward. Lastly, we get into our final thoughts from the game and give our final takeaways. It was only Akron, but the Buckeyes played awesome. The next game for Ohio State will be October 2nd against the Rutgers Scarlet Knights. Ohio State will look to show that this game was not a fluke against an upset minded Rutgers team. The hosts are new, but the sarcasm hasn't changed a bit. Join Gene Ross and Josh Dooley all year long as they break down everything going on in Buckeye Nation on Land-Grant Holy Land's flagship podcast. With a big date against the Akron Zips looming on Saturday night, Gene and Josh discuss the fact that Ohio State's biggest opponent this weekend is themselves. They also discuss about how much, if at all, C.J. Stroud should play this weekend given the fact that he and the coaches are openly talking about his shoulder injury, and they need to have backups prepared to play if an emergency arrives. Also, Ryan Day said the right things in his press conference on Tuesday, but the Holy Land boys think that whether or not the coaching staff can come together around a single defensive game plan will determine whether or not they are able to make the needed adjustments to turn the season around. They also preview the 0-3 Akron Zips who aren't very good, but have a roster full of really great names. If you're a fan of soccer or golf, Matt and Steve have some highlights there as well. This week's show notes: Penguins- Pens trade for Erik Gudbranson who is considered one of the worst D Men by the numbers he is listed as mor Physical than effective. He is signed through 2021. The Pen also picked up D Man Chris Wideman from the Panthers to try to sure up the Blue line . Derick Brassard who Pens traded to Panthers is now with the Avalanche. Former Pen, Haglin who was traded to the kings earlier this season is now with the Caps. Biggest one in my eyes is Mats Zuccarello to the Stars. In the last few games, the Pens have had some bad outings, getting shelled by the sharks 4-0 and a total give away game in the Stadium Series Out door game in Philly last Saturday losing in OT 4-3. Murray is letting in weak goals, the Defense isn’t clearing pucks, lots of giveaways in the natural zone, the offense isn’t keeping the zone and putting puck on net. Ice conditions last Saturday were shit, we lost Doumalin and Letang on same play in first, lots of weird bounces. Blue Jackets tonight. 20 games left in season and the Pens are on the outside looking in. Riverhounds- came to a 1-1 tie with Pitt last Friday and 1-0 win over Bethlehem Steel last Sunday. This Friday March 1st the Akron Zips come to Highmark @3pm and Sunday the 3rd Lansing Ignite FC at 1PM, March 9th Toronto FC @2pm for last preseason game. all Preseason Matches are Free to attend. Well, the South Carolina Gamecocks lost a very wild, weird game against the Clemson Tigers this past Saturday. The Gamecocks were out-manned, literally and figuratively, but played a much more competitive game than the scoreline indicated. Some exceptionally pedestrian play inside the redzone and a few gaffes in crucial third (and fourth) down situations ultimately sealed their fate, but not before Carolina’s offense hauled off for 600 yards of offense, led by a career performance from Jake Bentley. This podcast does not condone ever losing to Clemson in any capacity but there were some positive takeaways from Saturday night’s game. We go in depth on our takes from the Palmetto Bowl, but we also run through the rest of rivalry week to determine our winners and losers. Some highlights: why would anyone ever fight Kevin Faulk?Kendrick Rogers ridiculous catch against LSU.nobody played defense yesterday, not even Michigan. The FCS playoff is better.Les Miles to Kansas is actually good? We also do our best to preview this weekend’s final game against the Akron Zips, including our crystal game balls and our uniform predictions for the matchup, which will take place at Noon, and will be on SEC Network. You can checkout a little preview here if you’d like. As always, thank you for listening. If you have half as much fun listening as we did recording, then we had twice as much fun as you.

We have been building to this moment all summer. Corn Nation founder and heart and soul, Jon “Damn” Johnston! It’s finally time for our fearless leader to take his place on the Stand, answering the same questions we have posed to our Corn Nation colleagues over the course of the entire series. Here’s what we learned about Jon: He is from a small town in Nebraska He fought in the Korean War at the age of 5 He was the first IT Consultant (probably) His favorite Husker moment elicited a “WTF” from Hoss He really does love all of us. If that’s not enough reason to listen, then know that he also really rips on the Akron Zips (accidental rhyme, I’m keeping it) and he made Hooch laugh so hard he (Hooch, “pronouns, pal”) had to turn down his microphone. Seriously, Jon is an amazing person and the reason we are all here. So enjoy this amazing episode of the Five Heart Podcast. #GBR If you like the show, tell your friends.
