Thousand of Children are about to starve and when we say that Fascism is Imperialism turned inwards, this is what we mean. The CIA's twitter account just posted “The front gate at Headquarters is closed until further notice. Please use alternate routes for Thursday, May 22nd.” We are seeing the coordinated focus on the protest slogan “globalize the Intifada” from right-wing politicians and Israeli propagandists. This is just another evolution of the ill-fated Global War on Terror, which has never ended, and will now turn inward on not only muslims but anyone who opposes the War-State.

For the first time in decades, the United States is considering expanding, rather than reducing, its nuclear arsenal. This is allegedly being done in response to Russia, China, and North Korea reportedly expanding their own nuclear programs at a rapid pace. Given the current situation, there are growing concerns that the world may be returning to a state similar to that of the Cold War. Scott talks with Tim Shorrock about the build-up to today's tension with North Korea. Shorrock takes us back to the 1990s when the U.S. and North Korean governments were making serious headway in negotiating a formal end to the Korean war. At the time, the North Korean nuclear program was nonexistent. By the end of the decade, there were even serious talks taking place about ending the entire missile program. Then George W. Bush came in and, with the help of John Bolton, ruined everything. Scott and Shorrock talk about what went wrong, how it was almost fixed during the Trump administration and how things spiraled back out of control—again thanks largely to John Bolton.  Discussed on the show: The Shorrock Files — Patreon  “U.S. Government Quietly Declassifies Post-9/11 Interview With Bush and Cheney” (The Intercept) Tim Shorrock is the author of Spies For Hire: The Secret World of Intelligence Outsourcing and a regular contributor to The Nation and the Korea Center for Investigative Reporting. Scott is joined by David Stockman to talk about the economic issues facing the world today. To start, Stockman explains where the American economy stands today. He argues that the crash of 2020 represents the next stage in a 50-year evolution of the boom-bust cycle. They also touch on the labor markets, which Stockman argues are not doing as well as the news would have you believe. Next they turn to China, where Stockman says an accelerating slide back towards central planning that's all built on an absurd level of debt should dispel the idea we're headed for a world run by Beijing. He also debunks the myth that China has been waging an effective economic war on the U.S. since the 1990s. Instead, Stockman says America's economic troubles are all the Fed's fault. Lastly, Scott and Stockman take a step back and look at how the dollar is faring on a global scale.  Discussed on the show: David Stockman's Contra Corner David Stockman is the ultimate Washington insider turned iconoclast. He began his career in Washington as a young man and quickly rose through the ranks of the Republican Party to become the Director of the Office of Management and Budget under President Ronald Reagan. Deist observes that the issue with today's economic discourse is the focus on GDP and employment. What really matters, he says, is productivity. Through that lens, Deist helps us interpret the warped economy that the government brought about through its historic levels of intervention during the pandemic. Deist and Scott also talk about the importance of opposing war, the most destructive government policy of all.  Discussed on the show: Mises.org “In Latest Recession Signal, Money-Supply Growth Plummeted to a Three-Year Low in August” (Mises Wire) Dave Smith Breaks Down the Reasons Russia Invaded Ukraine on Joe Rogan Jeff Deist is president of the Mises Institute, where he serves as a writer, public speaker, and advocate for property, markets, and civil society. Scott is once again joined by Douglas Macgregor Col. (ret.) to discuss developments in Ukraine. Macgregor has been working hard to keep track of what's actually happening on the ground, and the result is a very different narrative than what you'd find in most media outlets. Despite a very public “defeat” in northeastern Ukraine, Macgregor is convinced the Russians are dominating this war. He argues that Russia's focus appears fixed on the southern coast, which may soon become part of Russia itself. Scott and Macgregor work through the current dynamics of the war and examine the risk of a nuclear strike.  Discussed on the show: “Playing With Fire in Ukraine” (Foreign Affairs) Douglas Macgregor, Col. (ret.) is a senior fellow with The American Conservative, the former advisor to the Secretary of Defense in the Trump administration, a decorated combat veteran, and the author of five books.
