In today's episode of the Luxury IBS podcast, we'll talk all about: Where I've been Whats new with my business Where I'm headed next Do I still believe in dietetics? You will love this episode if you: Have trouble finding success with dietitians Are not seeing results despite working with multiple practitioners Want to understand the blocks in your life regarding IBS and chronic illness
Now that I have Covid, I figure there is no better time than the present to talk about the topic of curing yourself! Getting sick is never fun. It really puts into perspective how we take being healthy for granted. As someone with a chronic illness, I understand the struggle to remain healthy in the face of it all, which is why in today's episode I discuss how living authentically can cure chronic illness. Whether it is Hashimoto's, PCOS, or IBS, 50% of your lifestyle is responsible for the outcome of your symptoms. Over the next 45 minutes, I share with you why you need to tackle chronic stress, focus on authentic alignment, and introduce nutrition that nourishes and heals you. I've had a number of clients ask me about blood glucose levels and how to regulate them, and that's because it has skyrocketed in popularity online. The downside to this is the immense amount of misinformation out there which is not only annoying but harmful and confusing. In this episode I am telling you everything you need to know about blood glucose levels, the importance of nutrition, and three ways to manage your blood sugar. I also update you on my pregnancy, dealing with weight gain, and how my fashion has changed since getting pregnant. Connect with me: TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@beckyrashidifard? It's important to really understand the concept of mentorship in the health sphere because the right mentor will make and break you. There are a million coaches, dieticians, nutritionists, and health coaches out there and not all of them will be for you. In fact, 95% of them will not be for you, and I know this from experience because I've gone through 30 practitioners myself, and made the mistake of really hiring all the wrong people. To illustrate this idea further, in this episode I discuss who you should hire to help you with your nutrition goals, breaking down the idea of the black-or-white continuum and how to commit to embracing healthy habits. For the last three and a half months I feel as if someone blew my candle out. I had no motivation, no hope, and no desire to do anything, and it was awful. But my suffering is finally over, my candle has been relit and the old Becky is back! I never thought this would happen, but I feel back to my normal self and I am so grateful. My depression was intense during my first trimester, a cycle of hopelessness and no energy which made it really tricky for me to navigate. During this episode, I share more about my experience with prenatal depression and five tips I wish I could have shared with my past self during this time period. Finally revealing my pregnancy has been such a big relief because I can be honest about what I'm doing and what I'm struggling with during my pregnancy. Currently, I am in my second trimester and I am still dealing with lots of symptoms, and although I am not feeling 100%, I am trying my best especially as my body grows and changes. One aspect of my pregnancy that has been really interesting for me to dive into is in health, nutrition, and lifestyle. It has felt so empowering to me! I am so excited for today's episode of Luxury IBS, because I am doing a deep dive into this topic to give you tangible examples on the power of energy and magnetism of healing. This isn't something that a lot of dietitians talk about, but I am so interested in this topic. People will tell you about how relationships, health, and money all have the same energy to them, and when you have one issue in this area it probably impacts the rest of it. During this episode, I share my own experience with this concept, in particular how TikTok has really shifted the way I see my own health and relationships. I talk about my TikTok journey growing and then losing my followers, how sometimes when you push harder for something to work the more it starts to work against you, when you need to use your feminine and masculine energy, and my own experience with human design and how I am using it in my day to day life. Today's episode is inspired by a DM I received a few weeks ago from a new mom who feels like Adderall has become a crutch for her while she keeps up with the demands of having a newborn. I have been noticing that a lot of my clients have used Adderall in the past and some still use it today. I myself have used Adderall before, and I think it's a topic that isn't really discussed in depth. During the episode, I share my own experience with Adderall, how it impacted my IBS and life, the impact of Adderall on your neurotransmitters and digestive system, and seven ways you can rebalance your body if you've been a long-time user of Adderall. If you have ever dealt with any form of gut health issues whether chronic or still undiagnosed, you have had to adopt a low FODMAP diet. This diet isn't easy or fun, I know from personal experience, and I know many of you have struggled while being on it. Well, a low FODMAP diet isn't always a long-term solution for everyone, and often what follows is the reintroduction of FODMAPs to determine your triggers or go back to eating “normally”. In this episode, I go over all things related to reintroducing FODMAPs into your diet. I share why I decided to reintroduce FODMAPs into my diet, trying to find a way to navigate a new diet from a grounded perspective, and the process I recommend for introducing FODMAPs and reversing your intolerances. When we think of addictions, we often think of the major ones like drugs and alcohol, but in all honesty, there are so many other nontraditional forms of addiction that people are dealing with. In this episode, I cover different forms of addiction including social media, food, and even dopamine! Dopamine is not something we tend to think of as an addiction, but after listening to an episode of the Andrew Huberman podcast, my mind was totally blown! During this episode, I talk more about dopamine and the ways it shows up for us, what dopamine addiction looks like, and how our neurological function impacts our day-to-day life. In today's episode I talk about a popular weight loss drug that's hit the market recently. Ozempic is a medicine traditionally used to treat adult type 2 diabetes however this injectable medication is now gaining popularity as a weight loss substitute. We know that weight loss, and extreme measures to lose weight, are all narratives of a toxic diet culture but why are people so willing to use medication to see the results? During the episode, I share my opinion about Ozempic from a dietician perspective, from an IBS standpoint, its pros and cons, and whether or not this drug will actually help you lose weight. In today's episode I talk about up-leveling your life and to help you get started I am sharing a fun visualization exercise that you can focus on as you listen to this episode. Today is my one year anniversary of launching Luxury IBS! Exactly a year ago, I was in Miami recording my episodes from a tiny closet, with absolutely no idea of what to expect on this journey. Starting this podcast was one of the best decisions of my life, both professionally and personally speaking, and I am so grateful for everything that has happened. In honor of this anniversary, this episode is dedicated to five things I learned from my year of podcasting. I share ways podcasting has helped me in my own life, and how as a result, I have seen so much growth in my own business, relationship, and professional development. Following the Thanksgiving episode, I go deeper into what happened over the holidays when I decided I did not want to be a people pleaser anymore. I came to this realization through deep shadow words and inner child work, which helped me realize the path I was on did not benefit me at all. It can be easy to just go through life white-knuckling things and dealing with things you don't want to put up with are eventually going to negatively impact your life. In this episode, I share more about my experience with shadow words, how this impacted my Thanksgiving dinner, and how I have never felt more content and comfortable with myself in a long time. I love nothing more than to record these podcast episodes for you, but sometimes it can feel like such a wild experience! What I mean by this is the absolute growth I undergo in between each weekly episode. The crazy thing about podcasting is how easily you can track your growth because it makes you accountable and in turn makes you a better person. With this in mind, I really want to dedicate today's episode to discussing my own growth and the things I want to change about myself. I share my thoughts on being a chronic people pleaser and how I broke that pattern, showing a new side of me through shadow work and why you should lean into the best most authentic version of yourself. The holidays are officially here, and boy oh boy can this be a pretty tricky time for a lot of us. Whether it's dealing with the in-laws, large feasts, or unhelpful and certainly not necessary comments about weight, the holidays can certainly suck! It can be especially tough for my gals dealing with IBS. I know that in the past this time of year used to cause me so much anxiety and pain. Thankfully I have learned a lot and I am so happy to share with you my tips for surviving Thanksgiving. In the episode I cover how you really should approach Thanksgiving, managing food expectations and relationships with others, and the power of movement during the holidays without the emphasis of calorie loss. Today I have a totally different episode for you that was requested by many people, and I am so happy to talk to you about how to start a nutrition business online. In this episode, I share all the advice I wish I knew five years ago, the finances and logistics of running a business, whether or not an online business is the right choice for you, and the pros and cons of being a business owner. Being an entrepreneur is such a rewarding experience but it also requires so much effort. Oftentimes it may not be the right choice for everyone, but I hope this episode sheds some light on being a business owner and helps you to make the best choice for yourself. When I talk on these episodes, I really like to share with you a blend of a patient and practitioner perspective. During my own healing journey I really looked up to a lot of dieticians and nutritionists and put them on a pedestal thinking they had superhuman knowledge. In reality, healing is a team sport and you're always constantly improving. One area I have noticed this is in nutrition and the idea of embracing the seasons of life. During this episode I talk about the importance of really focusing on the season of life you are in rather than pushing through it, grounding yourself in the challenging moments and growing from it, and my own experience with holistic medicine and my IBS diagnosis. Lately, I've been really drawn to sharing my process of how I have been dealing with IBS from an art, science, intuition, and psychological perspective. I have been finding it so healing to really get behind the root of IBS from a more holistic approach and to understand IBS from a behavioral approach. Understanding why we do things is so important, and it ties into the way our own bodies feel too. During this episode, I talk about the integration of nutrition with a gastro perspective, and how my own personality impacts my IBS, my relationship with food, and my relationship with others. I'm a big believer that there are different seasons in life and that there's a season for growth and change and there is a season for celebrating and fun. Without the different seasons in life, you risk stagnation and never growing into your own authentic version of yourself. During this episode, I talk about my own ease of growth, including my decision to explore being sober curious, getting older, and navigating the desire to have chidlnrem, why status symbols don't really matter and why in life there are no mistakes but a chance to learn from failure. Everyone loves talking about the ego, and I am sure you've heard people refer to someone's ego, or someone being egotistic, but do you even know what that means? I will be the first to admit that for a long time I did not know what having an “ego” really meant, beyond the superficial definition. In particular, I want to discuss why ego is the biggest enemy of success, more so than fear itself. In this episode, I share my own experience with a problem I faced and how I overcame it by tapping into my conscious mind, dealing with a selfish versus giving mindset, why certain characteristics centered away from your ego make you more successful and how the idea of perfect ideal life is a fallacy. Over the last six months, I have been having conversations with my friends and family about this topic, which lately, has become a heavy topic to discuss. Weight loss can be such a taboo topic that can only be approached from a black-or-white perspective when in reality it's actually a spectrum. I have been talking about weight for quite some time, and in this episode, I want to share my thoughts on how the dietetic community approaches weight loss, what healthy weight loss actually looks like especially when you have chronic gut issues, and questions you need to ask yourself around weight loss. My hope is that this episode leaves you feeling safe, encouraged, and overall having a lot more clarity on the topic of weight loss. I started my Instagram, in my coaching business five years ago, and over time I have really leaned into my profession and worked hard to create a platform where you can get a lot of information out of it. My platform and my podcast are a great way for me to connect with you guys and I am so grateful for that! So building on that connection, in today's episode of Luxury IBS, I am talking about independence and commitment and why you need both of these things to transform into your most authentic self. I explain how independence is important for your self-growth, exploration, and the ability to grow, maximizing your own potential and achieving self-mastery, and my own thoughts on commitment. In today's episode of Luxury IBS, I am talking about a taboo subject, which personally I think is great! I think it is important to talk about certain subjects and really dive into the psychology behind human behavior. This episode covers everything you need to know about binge eating, why we shouldn't demonize it, and how I overcame it. There's very specific rhetoric around binge eating which almost makes binge eaters feel like they need to walk around in shame carrying the burden of this eating pattern. I do not agree with this at all, in fact, I want to remove the stigma around binge eating and really break down the reason why so many people deal with this issue. During the episode, I cover the three main reasons behind binge eating addiction, my own childhood and how it led to a binge eating disorder, and what you really need to learn about nutrition and binge eating. Dealing with these issues takes traveling to a whole new level. Don't worry though, I got you covered! I share 8 tips for traveling with celiac and IBS. I explain the importance of understanding what type of eater you are (indulgence, some indulgence, or routine eater), how your travel destination caters to your needs and desires, keeping things simple meals-wise, and the power of exercise. In today's episode of Luxury IBS, I am doing a bit of a reflective episode. If you have a chronic condition, I know that you definitely deal with this balance between pain and pleasure. Personally, I've had a really interesting relationship with pain and pleasure throughout my life and I'd say it's only been recent, that my definition of it has really changed. When it comes to mastering IBS it really comes down to how we define pain and pleasure, and this has really been showing up in a big way in my life. I talk about my experiences with sharing content on TikTok, my approach to mastering and healing IBS and how this extended into cutting certain people out of my life, and what pleasure looks like to me. I share my trip to New York, my thoughts on Diet Coke and how this relates to general nutrition and coping mechanisms, my experience with Topomax, an anti-seizure medication, the idea of biofeedback therapy to treat my pelvic floor dysfunction, and why I like to workout. I really enjoyed this episode and I hope you learned a little something along the way! In today's episode of Luxury IBS, I talk about what's going on lately in my life ad answer some FAQs about my recently launched course. One way is with my recently launched course that will close on June 24th at 11:59 pm EST. In today's episode of Luxury IBS, I am talking about the five steps of the change process and the emotions you experience when you are on the road to recovery with IBS. many people think that once you are in the process of change you will experience immediate relief but in reality it can be a mixed bag of emotions. I cover the pre-contemplation stage where you are not ready to actually change your habits or accept responsibility for some of your situation, the contemplation stage, the preparation stage and working through your behavior and committing to action, the action change that is not imposed by anyone but yourself and finally the maintenance stage where you implement replacement behaviors and sustain your habits indefinitely. In today's episode of Luxury IBS, I am talking about a project I have been working on for so long! Today I am launching my course “The Art and Science of Healing IBS.” I know what it feels like to literally be caught in this circle of doom where you spend half of your waking hours just trying to figure out what to eat, what caused you symptoms, and where the bathroom is. I've been in that situation, and I've also worked with people in a one on one setting for four years hearing about these experiences from other people. This course is a culmination of professional and personal experience to help you get the support and clarity you need to help get you on the road to recovery. In this episode I share my own experience with IBS, what to expect in this self-guided lifetime access course, and a breakdown of each module! In today's episode of Luxury IBS, I am talking about Tom Brady - but not about his football career. Instead, I want to talk about his approach to nutrition. Lately, I have been thinking about him a lot, I even talked about him to my therapist! He's the greatest of all-time athletes for a reason, but in all honesty, it's his lifestyle approach I admire the most. Tom Brady adheres to a strict anti-inflammatory alkaline diet that is tailored to him! I talk about the importance of fully committing to a goal, how there are many approaches to dietetics, the impact of poor nutrition on your body and why you should care, and everything I admire about Tom Brady, his diet and lifestyle approach. In today's episode of Luxury IBS, I share why being process-oriented over goal-oriented will change your health trajectory forever. Now, this probably sounds super meta but in reality, once you realize just how transformational this approach is, you will not want to go back to how things were before. I explain how my own perspective has changed on fear once I got Covid, the difference between being process-oriented versus goal-oriented, how this may reflect in your diet and exercise routines, and why at the end of the day consistency matters.
