In this episode of #SMRadio I talked to my Sis Phylicia Henry about continually pursuing God, going to church, and her her lifestyle brand Seek God Slay Goals. Let me tell you, there are all kinds of gems dropped in this conversation. One of the things that we unpacked was how the pandemic has shifted our mindset about what it means to be in "fellowship" with a local assembly. Is it necessary to be in a local church body? Does God require that we are part of a church? Can we maintain our relationship with God without stepping foot in the building? It's such good stuff! This episode was so much fun to record, I know you'll love it. Short Bio Phylicia Henry is the CEO of PLH Consulting a solution oriented agency that focuses on creating systems that position expanding small businesses for sustainable growth. She is also the founder of Christian lifestyle brand Seek God Slay Goals, which helps millennial women enhance their spiritual, economic, emotional, and physical health. Cccchhhiiillleeee....whew! Secret jealousy is a thing. A thing that sadly shows up in our walk with Christ way too often. As our generation steps into various roles of leadership and ventures out into launching our personal ministries, there's a cloud of competition forming that just should not be. People are losing sight of what their assignment is and are causing what God intended to be purposeful and impactful to become self-serving, self-gratifying, and self-praising. REAL ministry is actually the complete opposite. It's becoming a servant to the people God has assigned you to. REAL ministry requires sacrifice, but most of all it REQUIRES your obedience. Stop acting like obedience is optional. When we fall into this competitive nature in ministry, it brings out some nasty character flaws, like jealousy. Instead of focusing on our assignment and harkening to the voice of God for instruction...we become driven by the number of likes and shares, and the number of people who joined our live. How many downloads did my podcast get? How many people viewed and subscribed to my YouTube channel? How many people stood up while I was preaching? Obsessed with things that we look to "validate" our assignment. When God already validated your assignment and the work that goes with it when he assigned it to you. What happens when we do this, is we open the door to comparison...which can lead to SECRET JEALOUSY! All of this plays a major role in how you're able to navigate and fulfill your assignment. If these things get in the way....you'll think you're walking in purpose because you are doing work, but in fact you're accomplishing nothing because you're out of alignment. In this episode of #SMRadio I'm share my personal story of how jealously and disobedience hindered me from walking in purpose.
This episode is was recorded a while back but yet is still so relevant. How can we unite as the body of Christ when so many churches still look segregated on Sunday mornings (pre pandemic?). We MUST have the race conversation head on and directly. Its just a fact that there are some things that have divided us as a church one of them is race...so me and brother BJ aka William Wilson Jr. talked about it. In addition to race we talked about church traditions, what should stay and what should go. Garry Levere is a choir director, vocalist, Elder, and one of the incredible voices of Ricky Dillard's choir New G. We are still out here talkin about our stacks in the#RunMeMyCoins series! In this episode I talked to my good friend Reg Smith about how entrepreneurship can be used as a tool to build the kingdom and create generational wealth for our families. ⠀ ⠀ Money is NOT a bad word, as people of faith we must learn that it is a resource that God has provided for us to advance his kingdom, bless our homes, and to bless others! ⠀Reg shares great perspective and gives us an up close look at the blessing of entrepreneurship. Earl did an incredible job of matching up money principles that are in alignment with biblical truths. ⠀ We talked about how to get out of debt, the importance of creating a budget, and how discipline is truly the key to maintaining financial stability and wellness. ⠀ Connect with Earl Murray III Instagram :: @ETMurray3
Lemme tell you something...this episode is going to have saying Amen, you right Sis, that's the truth throughout the entire interview. Ty gives us nothing but unfiltered truth about the what it means to be a prophetic voice in this climate. It aint houses, cars, and money cometh like many people think..whew laid it all on on the table!
In this episode I sit down with Justin Ponder, a dynamic millennial voice, out of the sunshine state of Florida. He shares how music was his gateway into ministry, and why it's important that every minister of the gospel finds their own unique voice.
In this episode of SM Radio I had the pleasure of speaking with Anthony “AJ” Jefferson (@aj_chosen) Of course I inquired about his salvation story and his view on the current state of the church BUT the conversation got real interesting when we discussed the intricacies of the gospel music industry. What it means to stay true to the message of the gospel and what it looks like to simply be meeting the demands of a record label.
In this interview with the Purpose Cultivator, Yah Hughes, it gets real! As we continue in our mini series about relationships, it's important that we take a minute to reflect on our relationship with ourselves. Why? Well, if we aren't secure in our identity and we're carrying around a bunch of mess....How we gone do ministry? It's a fair question right? Me and Yah had lots of laughs, but we got into some serious conversation about ridding ourselves of toxic behavior and thoughts. She shares her salvation story and how her relationship with God has shaped who she is today!
Season 2 of SM Radio is LIVE with an incredible series about relationships! In Episode 1 of Season 2, I had the awesome pleasure of speaking with Pastors William and Ebonie Scarborough! This millennial power couple has been together for nearly 15 years and share a wealth of wisdom about marriage and ministry, as well as what to do before you say yes! Healthy relationships are vital to health of the church, so we're talking about it and guess what...Its good good!
It got real REAL in my conversation with Youth Pastor Duane Williams Jr. As a former Baltimore City police office, youth advocate, and minister of the gospel his insights and viewpoints come from a place of experience and wisdom. The talk we had may be seen (or heard rather lol) as a bit controversial because we dug into some of the politics of “church”. Should preachers charge an honorarium to share the Word of God? Should musicians leverage the “need” for music as a means to get paid for serving in their local congregations? Yeah…it was that kind of talk. @Saved_Millennial @Dwilliams_jr @EvgShane
As a pastor, author, and conference host he brings a unique perspective on the state of the church. He talked the pressure of living up to the expectations of people when it comes to preaching and the responsibility of stewarding the gift God has loaned him. In this interview Pastor Tyson offers some very frank advice to young preachers/leaders and encourages those in leadership to never lose humility.
This week's episode features one of my absolute favorite kingdom vessels Ms. Kaneisha “NeeCee” Trott. She is gifted, anointed, and joyous! In this chat she opens up about how she was able to reconcile the absence of her biological father with accepting God as the father. We discussed why she opted not to go secular, and of course we talked about her thoughts on where the church is headed. E P I S O D E 17 :: In this episode of SM Radio me and Casey J. talk about how the church is not a building, it is the movement of people who carry the message of Christ and his love in the earth. She speaks candidly about how she recognized some flawed personality traits within herself and later found that God was calling her to walk in humility and service. Y'all know I didn't let her her go without talking about her music! We talked extensively about her new album “The Gathering” and how she uses her music as an evangelism tool by hosting Pop Up Worship events. Get into it!
A MUST LISTEN! The church is suppose to be a place of refuge and healing, but are being that to the LGBTQ community? In this episode Jessica and I take a deep dive into the relationship of the church with the LGBTQ community, and she shares her journey of deliverance from the lifestyle. If you've never tuned into SM Radio before you'll want to hear this episode for sure.

She shares her journey of faith, from sleeping on couch cushions in a crack house to being all in for Christ! We talked about how she's using her gift of styling to empower women and to share the gospel! It's GOOD GOOD!
In this episode I speak with Ashley Burton who's not only a mental health advocate but a preachers kid. We talked about the pressures of being a PK, the challenges of dealing with mental health as a Christian, and what churches can do to be more supportive of those within the body of Christ suffering with mental health issues. Ashley is very transparent and sheds light on this very important topic.
